Since it was built in 1932, Baiyun Airport has been the airport world’s tireless overachiever, constantly upgrading and expanding. After relocating to a new site in 2004, it kicked expansion into high gear: a third runway, the T2 terminal—and the T3 terminal is slated for completion in 2025!
As of 2024, Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport’s route network covers 233 destinations worldwide, nearly 90 of them international or regional—with particularly strong coverage across countries along the "Belt and Road."

Baiyun Airport’s Terminal 1 mainly serves domestic flights and some international/Hong Kong/Macau/Taiwan flights. It’s divided into Area A (domestic departures/arrivals) and Area B (international/Hong Kong/Macau/Taiwan flights), with facilities including check-in, security screening, boarding gates, and a commercial area.
Terminal 2, which opened in 2018 and is dedicated to flights operated by China Southern, China Eastern, and others, features more modern facilities, more brand-name shops and rest areas, and is connected to T1 by metro or shuttle bus, with a ride of about 10 minutes.
The airport is super thoughtful—it has everything you could possibly need! Places to eat and drink, shops to browse, and there’s even a duty-free shop for a full-on shopping spree. Traveling with kids? No worries: there’s a kids’ play area and a baby care room. Best of all, the metro is super convenient—you can be in downtown Guangzhou in just 30 minutes!
