"Very good location, close to both the station and the supermarket. Easy choice for anyone interested in exploring Nikko.
One minor critique on the tap/shower head of the bathroom being slightly too small for ample waterflow and temperature adjustment, but overall will not impact the quality of your stay and thus no stars deducted.
Place is very clean and organised, with additional things offered free of charge that will be explained to you at reception.
Staff is also multilingual for those who are concerned."

"4.5 stars! Property is older but extremely well maintained. The corner western/Japanese rooms are spacious with two western beds and tatami area, single japanese bath and shower area and separate toilet area, mini fridge, tv, sitting area overlooking the river and table with four chairs as well as a massage chair! Onsen area has both indoor and outdoor areas separate for men and women and a cold plunge as well as multiple hot baths. Minus half a star for low staffing in the store/cafe areas (often no staff member to be found when kakigori desired), no in house lunch option and overly fatty meat on the 3rd night dinner (breakfast and dinner were LARGE and BEAUTIFUL but perhaps heavy on the yuba. Also, shuttle to the train station is only at 10 and 11am and getting cabs is difficult. However, would overwhelmingly recommend Nikko Senhime Monogatari!"

"My stay at Hotel Hatago Nagomi was a lovely experience. While the property is a bit on the older side, it more than makes up for it with a cozy atmosphere and excellent service.
Waking up to a direct view of the lake from my room was a highlight, as was winding down in the relaxing on-site hot spring. The three-course Japanese dinner was absolutely awesome and offered incredible quality for a very standard price. It’s a perfect, comfortable home base for anyone looking for an authentic stay in Nikko."

"The hotel is great! The room was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped with many facilities like karaoke, a game center, and more. I visited with my family, a total of 14 people, and they were able to arrange a private room for us for both dinner and breakfast. Both meals were buffet-style and absolutely delicious.
The onsen experience was wonderful, and the view from the onsen was fantastic, with a beautiful view of the Kinugawa River.
However, there was one issue: when we checked in, the reception took our passports for photocopying. Unfortunately, they missed returning one of the passports to us. It wasn’t until after we checked out and reached our next stop that we realized one passport was missing. We had to go back to the hotel to take it.
Despite this, the overall experience was great, and I would still recommend the hotel."
Lakeside hotel with gorgeous views. Our fisherman chef's trout and mountain vegetable dishes are simply divine.
"When we arrived grandma missed our order. But it was dealt with quickly. We took this dad on the trip. We enjoyed 3 days and 2 nights. The old lady cooked a sumptuous breakfast and dinner every day. They were very delicious and I was very full after every meal. We were also very satisfied with the meal. The B&B faces the mountains and the sea. The scenery is beautiful. Great stay . I really like it. Thank you, grandma. Our family of 3 had a lot of fun"
