Cheap Hotels in Nikko

"One word: fantastic! I'd call this the most convenient hotel to stay at in Nikko, bar none! It's just a three-minute walk from Tobu Nikko Station, and you can catch buses from the station square to all the tourist attractions. There's also a large supermarket right next door. The hotel offers a free buffet breakfast with a wide variety of delicious options. I highly recommend it to everyone!"

"This was an incredible experience. An old fashioned Japanese inn at a beautiful lake. You get a room with six tatamis, futons, yukatas, some tea to greet you and a beautiful view of the lake. We also had a dinner, which had lots of variety, including locally sourced fish. The owner is a nice old lady, who did not speak English, but we could converse using Google Translate with no issue."

"This is amazing! The location next to the train station makes it easy to get to all the attractions. The man working at the reception desk deserves a bonus! He explained everything so well and was very informative. The breakfast is delicious, especially the toast with whipped cream. The rooms are large and spacious, and the bed is comfortable. There's also bottled water in the room. The amenities are excellent too; they provide toiletries like shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel everywhere. I'd happily return!"

"The hotel offers a shuttle service to Kinugawa Onsen Station, but even with a reservation, I was told it was full and I couldn't board. The hotel does have a public hot spring bath, which is a nice perk. However, the room didn't have a traditional air conditioner with an outdoor unit; it only had something like an evaporative cooler, which wasn't cool at all. I had to open the window for ventilation to try and cool down. On the positive side, the hotel room was very spacious."

"4.5 stars!  Property is older but extremely well maintained.  The corner western/Japanese rooms are spacious with two western beds and tatami area, single japanese bath and shower area and separate toilet area, mini fridge, tv, sitting area overlooking the river and table with four chairs as well as a massage chair!  Onsen area has both indoor and outdoor areas separate for men and women and a cold plunge as well as multiple hot baths.  Minus half a star for low staffing in the store/cafe areas (often no staff member to be found when kakigori desired), no in house lunch option and overly fatty meat on the 3rd night dinner (breakfast and dinner were LARGE and BEAUTIFUL but perhaps heavy on the yuba.  Also, shuttle to the train station is only at 10 and 11am and getting cabs is difficult.  However, would overwhelmingly recommend Nikko Senhime Monogatari!"

"This hotel was perfect for me from Yen value to ease in every sense and I am fussy with my comforts & expectations & budget. You will be happy at the Itoen Hotel with friendly English speakers at service desk, happy atmosphere, a great onsen & great dining. I would have booked for longer than one day in this very pleasant hotel & town had I known how much I enjoyed it. There is an absolutely wonderful nearby avenue of cherry blossom trees if you're here at the right time.... I was and it made my trip! Check out the steam train & suspension bridge too."

"The hotel locates nearby Nikko, the world herritage area, just 4 km. from the hotel. Our room is very big, clean, and good maintained. There are 5-6 private onsen rooms, available and enough for guests. The hotel owner gave us warm welcome and services with very reasonable price. Recommend for the one who wants to stay and travel in Nikko!!"

"Upon arrival, I tried to inquire about the shuttle bus, only to find out it needed to be booked a day in advance. I contacted Trip.com and the hotel for assistance, and both were very friendly and helpful. They told me to wait for the shuttle at the Nikko Hotel entrance, which is opposite JR Nikko Station. The driver who picked us up was also very kind and asked us where we were from. For every pick-up and drop-off, he would double-check if there were any other passengers, which was very diligent. My favorite part was the balcony in the room, which had a shower and a wooden bathtub. The scent of the wood was so lovely and therapeutic. I looked forward to breakfast every morning. As a vegan, there were fewer options, but everything was delicious. Although the journey was a bit far, the fresh air and cool, comfortable weather made it a perfect summer retreat. Plus, there's a free ice and beverage station on the second floor, which is a thoughtful touch. On the first floor, they also sell snacks and instant noodles, and I always wanted to buy a pack or two after coming back. There's even an antique car display on the first floor. Overall, it's very clean and welcoming. It’s a great place for families to relax and travel."

"We had a very pleasant stay at the hotel. The rooms had a lovely retro Japanese design, the buffet was excellent, and the hot spring baths were a real highlight. I was initially concerned about the language barrier, but the concierge was both friendly and fluent in English—a definite bonus. Thank you for a truly memorable experience."

"I visited Nikko to explore the areas around Tokyo during my trip! Nikko is apparently famous for its hot springs and yuba (tofu skin) cuisine. So, I stayed at Hananoyado Mitsuya, a hot spring hotel. We booked a stay that included both dinner and breakfast. Pros: All the staff members were incredibly friendly, and the service was excellent. The food was delicious and the portions were generous! They even prepared our futons for us during dinner, and the yukata (Japanese traditional garment) were free. Among all the amenities, I loved the hot springs the most. The water temperature wasn't too hot, and the outdoor bath, in particular, was absolutely beautiful! Being in the open-air bath, surrounded by trees and nature, listening to the sounds of the nearby stream, was incredibly relaxing! My travel companion and I even booked a private hot spring for one session, which was 3300 yen for 45 minutes. They also provided free transportation to Kinugawa-Onsen Station, where we needed to catch our express train. Additionally, there were various vending machines conveniently located throughout the property. Cons: Perhaps because I visited in winter, but our room was extremely cold. Even with the heating on its highest setting, it remained chilly. I think the large size of the room might have contributed to this. Also, the internet was slow. Although the hotel had Wi-Fi, it often disconnected or had trouble connecting. Even using mobile data was slow. Aside from these points, I was very satisfied! Especially the staff's service, the hot springs, and the meals were outstanding! 👍👍"
