"Choosing this hotel for our trip to Nikko was a great decision. The price was perfect for someone on a regular budget. The hotel was clean, and its location near Tobu Nikko Station was fantastic, about 300 meters if you follow the right navigation. My navigation kept changing directions after I got off the train, so I had to ask a local shop owner for directions, and then it was easy to find. Just walk a few steps down the small road past the post office, and you're there. The hotel offers free breakfast to all guests, and it's quite good! The room was clean, and the view from the window was lovely, with mountains and clouds, very picturesque! There's also a large supermarket across the street where you can buy delicious and reasonably priced sashimi."

"Our trip during Golden Week was to visit Nikko Toshogu Shrine and other World Heritage sites. We stayed in a corner room in the main building. The interior was beautifully maintained, in the style of a charming old-fashioned hotel, spacious, clean, and comfortable. The next day, it was bright and sunny from early morning. Through the large window, we could see fresh greenery, and snow seemed to have fallen on the distant mountains. We thoroughly enjoyed our coffee and had a wonderful time. I'd love to visit again in autumn."

"Lovely hotel. The female receptionist is so kind. It is a little far from the station and main roads, but ok if you have a car. The shower and bed was excellent. It has free tea and coffee but you need to buy your own breakfast things from 7/11. Most outside breakfast places open at 9am or 10am and were nothing special.
There is an excellent steak place 400m uphill from the restaurant, but you need the reception to make a booking. It is very expensive, but extremely high quality.
The Italian downtown is fab. Try the carbonara, salad, gnocchi, duck and tiramisu. Next to it is an excellent sushi place called Komekichi Kouzushi which is great, but the Italian restaurant was the winner."

"I stayed here for a business trip. I was prepared for a very small 4.5 tatami mat Japanese-style room, but it was surprisingly cozy and felt just like my own room.
The toilet, located at the back of the room, was very clean and pleasant to use.
The onsen (hot spring bath) was also empty on a weekday, so I had it all to myself, which was great for soothing the fatigue from a lot of walking. I wonder if it would be packed on weekends?
Most of the shops around the station closed abruptly around 5 PM, leaving no dining options, but having a convenience store right across the street was a huge lifesaver.
The breakfast was also uncrowded on a weekday, allowing me to enjoy it leisurely. It was Japanese-style and healthy, which I appreciated.
Given it's a station in a tourist area and one of the more affordable options around, I'd definitely like to stay here again if I have the chance."

"Nikko Hoshino Yado was, without a doubt, the most stunning chapter of our trip. It's much more than just a hotel; it's a living temple of Japanese aesthetics.
The beauty of its garden is comparable to the renowned Ruriko-in – the same interplay of light and shadow, the same myriad shades of autumn leaves, but with an added sense of private immersion. Staying in a room with a view of the autumn foliage, the window frame becomes a canvas, with the ever-changing seasonal scenery as its most priceless artwork.
The kaiseki dinners and breakfasts are not merely a feast for the taste buds but also a visual art. Each dish is like a delicate haiku, narrating the seasonal stories of Nikko through the finest ingredients of the season.
Then, sinking into the indoor and outdoor *furo* (baths), letting the warm spring water embrace your body, you can gaze upon the autumn colors of the garden or the starlit night sky. This ambiance is simply perfect. This wasn't just a stay; it was a profound healing experience centered around Japanese beauty."

"4.5 stars! Property is older but extremely well maintained. The corner western/Japanese rooms are spacious with two western beds and tatami area, single japanese bath and shower area and separate toilet area, mini fridge, tv, sitting area overlooking the river and table with four chairs as well as a massage chair! Onsen area has both indoor and outdoor areas separate for men and women and a cold plunge as well as multiple hot baths. Minus half a star for low staffing in the store/cafe areas (often no staff member to be found when kakigori desired), no in house lunch option and overly fatty meat on the 3rd night dinner (breakfast and dinner were LARGE and BEAUTIFUL but perhaps heavy on the yuba. Also, shuttle to the train station is only at 10 and 11am and getting cabs is difficult. However, would overwhelmingly recommend Nikko Senhime Monogatari!"

"I've lost.my bag in the bus when I arrived at the hotel. I immediately seek the hotel staffs for help. They were very helpful and making calls to the places that I've may have left it. Train station, bus company.
Lastly, was very lucky to have found it back. Someone picked up and passed it to the bus driver.
In Japan, there's always a chance of finding back lost item. It's very safe."
