"I really enjoyed my stay in this hotel and felt so comfortable that I stayed more in my room than visiting the city ! At my checkin the receptionist saw I am a cyclist and he immediately suggested that I leave my bike in the luggage area, without having to request, which is exceptional when you travel by bicycle. First impression are lasting impressions… thank you to housekeeping as well for their great attention to guest needs and to details."

"Absolutely loved this hotel! It's nestled quietly on a hillside, directly facing Sakurajima, and we were incredibly lucky to witness the volcano erupting. The gentleman at the hotel entrance, dressed in an old-fashioned uniform, was so friendly. He saw us taking photos and specially came over to take a group picture for us, and it turned out great! The hotel offers various dining options and a convenience store. The breakfast, though, was the real highlight – easily one of the best quality breakfasts I've had in a Japanese hotel. The hot springs (onsen) were also wonderfully relaxing and fully equipped. Highly recommend!"

The Art Hotel Kagoshima is an ideal spot for travelers wanting to discover the city. Visitors to Kagoshima City will find that the Art Hotel Kagoshima is a fantastic accommodation choice. Traveling to the hotel is easy with Minami-Kagoshima Station located approximately 3km away and Kagoshima International Airport roughly 46km away. After a long day of sightseeing, guests can retire to the comfort of the hotel. For those driving themselves, parking is provided on site. This hotel is a popular accommodation for guests traveling with families.

"I originally wanted to book the highly recommended Shiroyama Hotel, mainly to see the active volcano scenery in Kagoshima! But I booked too late. I saw that this art hotel was also said to offer good value for money. The only downside is that it's a bit far from Kagoshima-Chuo, so you'll need to take a taxi, otherwise, the bus ride takes over half an hour. The room with a view is indeed outstanding. However, the hotel is a bit old, and the facilities are a bit dated. Plus, there's no hot spring, and the only swimming pool is closed in winter. There's also an outdoor spa that requires advance booking and a swimsuit, which I unfortunately didn't bring, so I had to give it a miss. The front desk staff spoke good English. The only issue was that on weekends, breakfast was super crowded, and we had to queue for half an hour 😮💨. However, the breakfast spread was quite rich. Overall, it's not bad, especially suitable for those traveling by car."

"Extremely satisfied with this hotel! It's super convenient, just a one-minute walk from the Shinkansen station. No need to drag your luggage far! I booked a double room in the North Tower, which was perfect for one person, and the space was decent. They replaced towels, slippers, and coffee daily. My booking included breakfast, and you could choose between Japanese and Western options. The Japanese breakfast even had Kagoshima Kurobuta pork hotpot, which was so filling I didn't need to eat again, allowing me to try more things later! I preferred the Western breakfast; the coffee was good, and the toast was delicious. I ended up having Western breakfast two days in a row, and they also offered takeaway coffee packets and waffles, which was a nice touch! I'll definitely stay here again when I go to Kagoshima and will recommend it to my friends!"

Complimentary wireless internet access keeps you connected, and digital programming is available for your entertainment. Private bathrooms have complimentary toiletries and hair dryers. Conveniences include safes and microwaves, and housekeeping is provided on request.

"The room is genuinely cozy, sparkling clean, and feels like a new apartment. It's about a 7-8 minute walk from Tenmonkan. The street downstairs is lined with nightclubs, so it's probably best not to return too late. There's a 7-Eleven downstairs and a local supermarket diagonally opposite, offering all sorts of fresh meat and vegetables. It was perfect for us to buy ingredients and use the room's kitchenware for a satisfying yakiniku or shabu-shabu meal. The local wagyu and kurobuta pork were incredibly fragrant and absolutely delicious! Check-in and check-out are fully self-service, which has its pros and cons. The advantage is the peace, quiet, and freedom it offers. However, the downside is that if it's raining and you need help calling a taxi, there's no staff member available to assist you. A taxi ride to Kagoshima-Chuo Station costs about 1000 yen. I would definitely choose to stay here again if I have the opportunity."

The Dormy Inn Kagoshima provides a great place for travelers to relax after a busy day. The Dormy Inn Kagoshima offers a pleasant stay in Kagoshima City for those traveling for business or leisure. The hotel is only 1km from Kagoshimachuo Station and 40km from Kagoshima International Airport, giving guests a number of convenient transportation options. There's plenty to do nearby, with Jigen-ryu Swordsmanship Museum, Kagoshimapuroposhonakademi and 天文館ベルク広場 all within a short distance. In their spare time, guests can explore the hotel's surroundings. Guests of this Kagoshima City hotel can make use of the parking facilities. When it comes to Kagoshima City hotels, the Dormy Inn Kagoshima is highly regarded for its excellent facilities. This hotel is particularly popular with those traveling with families.

"I often travel to Japan, and Dormy Inn rooms always seem to be in high demand. The 20+ sqm twin rooms, perfect for two adults and one child, are usually impossible to book. So, when I saw this room type available in Kagoshima, I decided to book it for one night. Overall, my experience fell short of expectations. Unfortunately, neither adult could enjoy the onsen (hot springs) for personal reasons, which is arguably the hotel's main highlight – a real shame. The room itself was a bit small, and while cleanliness was decent, the toilet emitted a persistent garlic-like odor. On the positive side, the dining options were excellent. Breakfast featured Kagoshima's special black pork shabu-shabu and a type of sashimi. Complimentary ice cream and Yakult were available all day in the lounge on the hot spring floor, and free soy sauce ramen was served after 9:30 PM. Given these amenities, I'd say it's best suited for adults who plan to fully utilize the onsen facilities. What truly made the stay less than ideal wasn't just my inability to use the onsen. More significantly, during check-in, the front desk informed me that my reservation did not include a 3-year-old child, resulting in an additional charge for the child's accommodation and meals. This wasn't the hotel's fault, and honestly, I'm not sure who to blame. I distinctly remember booking for two adults and one child, so I'm puzzled about what went wrong in the process. Perhaps Dormy Inn and I simply weren't a good match this time. I'm well aware that Japanese hotels charge per person, so I always meticulously enter the correct number of guests and compare prices across different platforms when booking in Japan. Having visited Japan over a dozen times, this was the first instance where I was charged extra at check-in due to a discrepancy in the number of guests. I was quite surprised when informed about the booking error. Checking my Trip.com confirmation on my phone at the front desk, I saw it indeed only listed two adults. I can only fault myself for never reviewing the confirmation after booking; moving forward, I'll be sure to check them carefully to catch and correct any issues promptly. After reporting this to Trip.com customer service, they responded quickly and later reimbursed me half of the additional cost. During this trip, both hotels I booked through Trip.com had unexpected additional charges at check-in. Besides the Dormy Inn incident, another hotel in Fukuoka charged a separate accommodation tax. Interestingly, I booked a different hotel in Fukuoka on another platform, and its price already included this tax, so I didn't pay anything extra upon arrival. Moving forward, when booking hotels in Japan, I'll have to carefully consider if the lowest price offered on certain platforms might be due to hidden fees."

TTuixiuyubeirenyuanI highly recommend this hotel when visiting Kagoshima – it's incredibly convenient! They have a delicious local pork hotpot right in the hotel (reservations recommended, portions are small). After dinner, you can head to the supermarket next door for a stroll and find a fantastic selection of strawberries. Afterwards, just pop up to the 5th floor for a relaxing hot spring bath. There's a tram stop right outside the hotel, but for places like the aquarium and Sakurajima ferry terminal, it's a bit more convenient to take a taxi (around 1,000 yen, very close). On the day we left, the sun finally came out, and we got to enjoy a beautiful view of Sakurajima right from our room!

GGuest UserI booked this hotel on Trip.com for my summer trip to Japan, and my stay was excellent! Self check-in is available from 3 PM. The hotel boasts a convenient location and pleasant surroundings, though its facade is quite unassuming and easy to miss. Our connecting family rooms (two rooms) weren't particularly spacious but were clean and well-equipped, featuring an air purifier and an LG clothes dryer. Guests can also enjoy a public bath on the 12th floor. Located just 1.4 km from Kagoshima-Chuo Station, the area around the hotel offers a plethora of unique dinner options, such as the famous 'Wagaiebi' izakaya, specialty soba noodle shops, and a wide array of other local delicacies. Furthermore, drugstores, bakeries, and supermarkets are all conveniently accessible. While summer prices tend to be a bit higher, the hotel offers very reasonable rates during off-peak seasons.

ZZaixiaputilaozuThe hotel is perfectly located in the middle of everything. It's about a kilometer to both the observatory and Sakurajima ferry terminal, and a 10-minute walk to Tenmonkan. So, the location is moderate, and the environment meets expectations. Service-wise, it's pretty much what you'd expect from a chain hotel, no real complaints. Overall, it's above average. If you're visiting for tourism, this place is worth considering, especially since it's important to be able to walk back and digest after a meal! 😀😀😀

GGuest UserThe location is superb, room was clean, spacious and with a nice balcony. The room provided all you need on a leisure trip. The only downside was it was super complicated and time consuming to contact the hostel for entrance pin, check-in procedure and check-in number. We asked the front desk receptionist of our previous hotel to call the hostel number stated on trip.com booking confirmation email in morning, but no one picked up; called again at 3pm, and the hostel hotline said the number was wrong and referred us to call another number. If we did not have the assistance from a Japanese local receptionist from another hotel, I dont think we could get the entrance pin and check-in procedure information smoothly. I recommend this hostel to Japanese local, or tourists with a Japanese mobile number to make calls/able to find assistance from Japanese local people.

Aa350ryomaThis hotel's location is super convenient, right in the heart of the Tenmonkan area, with the tram stop directly in front. It's walking distance to the bustling downtown and plenty of restaurants, so exploring and dining out was a breeze. The hotel and rooms felt new and clean, making for a very comfortable stay. The artificial carbonated hot spring in the public bath was fantastic for soothing away travel fatigue. I especially enjoyed the breakfast on the top floor, with amazing views of Sakurajima while savoring dishes made with local ingredients. The staff were also very attentive and polite. Overall, I'd say this is a highly satisfying hotel.

GGuest UserVery conveniently located close to the tram (which goes to the location to catch the bus to Kagoshima airport), as well as other places obviously. Also about  ten minute walk to Sakurajima ferry and about a fifteen minute walk to the high speed ferry that goes to Yakushima.   Has laundry and drying that you need to pay for on the first floor. Rooms are typical Japanese business hotel rooms but not ultra small or cramped. I stayed here for several days and enjoyed the view of Sakurajima in the morning and night.  Staff are friendly and prompt.

二黃What a surprisingly wonderful old ryokan! Operating for a century, its interior boasts a rich Showa-era charm. It definitely feels historic but is spotlessly clean. The true highlight was breakfast, which unexpectedly featured pork shabu-shabu. The broth was made with genuine, high-quality ingredients, and the yuzu kosho was locally sourced. Paired with the black pork, it was absolutely delicious! 😋

IISHI NAMII stayed here for two nights because it was close to the station, the price was reasonable, and the reviews said it was clean. The building is old, but it was well-cleaned. I stayed for two nights, but the sheets were changed (they were on the bed, so you lay them down yourself). The shower, toilet, and washroom are shared by men and women. I went to a public bath and hot spring, so I didn't use the shower. The entrance is unlocked, so you can enter and exit freely 24 hours a day. The entrance to the room is unlocked, too. However, since it was next to the shared floor, I didn't feel uneasy. They come to turn off the lights at 10pm (it's dimly lit after the lights are turned off). There is a lockable box in the room for valuables (suitcases won't fit). It was enough for me since I only needed to sleep. Thank you for your help. *Recommended for experienced travelers.

QQiao YingIt’s only a 6-minute walk from Kagoshimachuo Station! I stayed in the Tatami Room which can be relatively small for people with big luggages. Like other hostels, the toilets, shower rooms, and common space are shared among the floor. However, I do find the shower area a little small. Many of us wouldn’t enter the shower area if somebody was using the sink because the sink was right in front of one shower cubicle HAHAHA. And yes, there’s only one sink in the common shower area. I would recommend this place if you are doing a short stay in Kagoshima because there’s lots of shops and restaurants around the area! By the way, it’s located along the same lane as the famous “tonkatsu kawakyu とんかつ川久”. Please try it because it’s the best tonkatsu I’ve ever eaten!
