Spent one night with spouse and kids, a simple place we found convenient and relaxing. Breakfast and dinner (included in the already modest price) were both a positive surprise (quantity and quality) especially when compared to the neighbouring restaurants (disappointing and expensive). The hotel is owned by nice and kind folks.
Great place to stay if you want to explore the lions rock and the area around. Pidurangala rock is only 15min away by tuk tuk, the lions rock can be done by walk (~20min walk to entrance). But the best experience was the kindness of the hosts. The helped us in every way (explaining routes, advices on activities, organizing tuk tuk, etc.). The food was amazing and we had a lot of interesting conversations with the friendly stuff. Special thanks to Daushna, Larush & Nimal for making our stay remarkable.
GGuest UserKalundewa Retreat has an amazing concept and a beautiful, secluded location that really stands out. The surroundings are peaceful and unique, making it a lovely place to disconnect. That said, there are visible signs of wear and tear in certain areas, and some aspects of property maintenance could be improved.
However, what truly made up for this was the hotel team — their service was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The food was excellent and clearly prepared with care, which added greatly to the overall experience. With better upkeep, this place has the potential to be exceptional.
This hotel was in an excellent location. It was nearby restaurants and amenities. We had a pleasant stay except for an issue with the laundry service which was not up to par. Would advise travellers to clarify the no of items and weight of laundry before getting hotel to do it. Laundry was returned to us partially wet and a sock was missing n never found. We were asked to pay more as they claimed that our laundry exceeded the weight. It would have been good to have been informed first. It was unfortunate that the end of stay was disappointing due to this incident. The hotel manager was not very professional in handling the matter. ☹️
Great quiet place, small pool, contrary to information there is no playground, the restaurant works by the clock - that is, at 17 you can't order any food, you have to wait until 19. Very clean, everything is disinfected, very kind and helpful staff. I would stay again
