Great
GGuest UserI loved it. Amazing location, gorgeous hotel, helpful staff, nice views (see attached photo), wonderful swimming pool and small but functional fitness. I was planning to visit Yangon on the weekend but loved the hotel so much that I have spent most of the time resting, swimming, training and enjoying massage in their Spa (Nadia). Highly recommended and only 20-25 minutes to the airport.
PPomPom0It was a great stay. Staffs are polite and helpful. A male receptionist and a woman Housekeeping attendant at 16th floor were particularly helpful during my stay. The Pool is beautiful and I was actually amazed that they built a very deep pool for a hotel (1.9 m). My feet barely touched the pool ground, but they did have the fitness trainer who watched out for the deep pool. The room is okay, but I feel like it’s a bit small. Don’t get me wrong, they already are among the widest rooms in Yangon, yet the room I got had very tight entrance. The bathroom is separated with toilet and shower and bathtub. TV is rather small, I expected to have a more updated smart TV in this kind of hotel.
The only thing I wasn’t satisfied was Breakfast. Yes, they did have variety of selections but the tastes were blend and honestly, I didn’t like their food menus.
Overall, it was pretty decent memory to stay at Melia.
ZZmeyerOld luxury hotel - resort style big pool, great breakfast, spacious rooms. They have to renovate it, but it still very nice.
Ah, by the way. Its hard to find some restaurants nearby - be prepared for taxi for any case. But they have 24h convenient store on first floor.
And - its very strange for the hotel of this level - there was a situation with exec lounge. It was in my booking but they refuse to give me access: ”It was an error in room description”. Guys, its really not my trouble, right? I wasnt in the mood for hard negotiations, so... let carma decide ))) And they have no local shuttle bus (yes, there is an error on hotel site). Heh )))
RRaffles81Other than an encounter from kitchen staff during breakfast, everything was fine. During breakfast, soup was cold and I saw no fire below the pot. I just had the cold Mont Hinn Garr and thought that I was late. After that, I went for a cup of tea and saw one kitchen staff near the pot, I told him that the soup was cold and no fire below the pot, he just gave me a blurred look and no reply at all. 😂😂 After that I went and looked, the pot was warm and there was fire again. At least, please train your staff to reply to customers if there is any feedback which may be right or wrong. In the end, Novotel is an international hotel chain and brand name trusted by customers and expectations are there.
GGary Joseph HayesReview: The Governor’s Residence, Yangon
The Governor’s Residence remains one of Yangon’s most atmospheric and elegant hotels, combining colonial charm with modern comfort. Nestled in a quiet embassy district, the restored teak mansion, once the home of a British colonial governor, immediately impresses with its graceful architecture and tranquil gardens. Approaching through leafy pathways and lotus ponds, guests are welcomed into an oasis that feels far removed from the bustle of downtown Yangon.
Rooms are spacious and tastefully decorated, featuring polished teak floors, four-poster beds, and traditional Burmese textiles that reflect the building’s heritage. Balconies overlook either the lush gardens or the inviting fan-shaped swimming pool, creating a sense of calm retreat. The service is consistently warm, professional, and attentive without being intrusive, with staff eager to share local knowledge and assist with arrangements.
Dining is a highlight. The open-air restaurant offers refined Burmese and international dishes, prepared with fresh ingredients and presented with flair. Breakfast under the wide verandas, with tropical birdsong in the background, is especially memorable. Afternoon cocktails by the pool or an evening meal by candlelight evoke the romantic grandeur of a bygone era.
What sets the Governor’s Residence apart is its atmosphere: it is not simply a hotel but a living reminder of Yangon’s colonial past, reimagined with comfort and grace. Whether visiting on business or leisure, guests leave with a sense of serenity and timeless elegance. For those seeking a blend of history, luxury, and authentic Burmese hospitality, this residence is an exceptional choice.
GGuest UserThe room was clean and the view was great, and the breakfast was satisfying.
The water pressure in the shower was also excellent.
The location is a little far from the city center, but I think it is very reasonable.
I would like to stay here again if I have the opportunity to come to Yangon.
The only downside was that it took a long time to check out.
GGuest UserLocation is basically good but not easy to find shops nearby, Inya lake is just on the opposite side of the road but have to walk long way from the hotel room because the hotel is situated in the inward inlet. There's no water bottle in the room but instead guests have to go to the hallway to use the water server machine, which never gave cold enough water. This is an European hotel and says a lot about eco-friendly or sustainable stuff, but it means downgraded service compared to other hotels run by Korea or Singapore. Breakfast is simply superb and I liked very much. Overall good hotel but it is recommended those who can sacrifice comfort for the sake of some peculiar things like sustainability.
KKSSKLocation of the property is opposite to Myanmar Plaza shopping mall. It would be great if the size gate of the property could open for guests to walk a shorter distance to the mall.
Service staffs were very friendly, especially Lenna who was very efficient during the check-out process and responded professionally to queries.
Breakfast at D’Cusine was average needs improvement. There is also a Japanese Restaurant and a Korean restaurant for dining within the property.
Swimming pool is excellent especially for family with kids.
Club at basement played good music. Take note of age group and dress code requirements.
Overall highly satisfied with the stay at this property.
PP.atricia_a.The accommodation is clean, exactly as in the picture. I had to check out at 5 a.m. so I didn't have breakfast. But the cuteness of this hotel is that it prepared snacks for me 😊🙏❤️ I am very grateful. Thank you Myanmar Life Hotel 🏨 ❤️🇲🇲 Thank you kaa 🙏🙏🙏
