"My stay at Hansi Xihu Hotel (Chaozhou Ancient City Paifang Street Branch) exceeded my expectations. The hotel is conveniently located directly opposite Xihu Park, just a few minutes' walk from Paifang Street, making it super easy to explore the ancient city. Upon checking in, I added the customer service on WeChat, and they promptly sent over a recommended itinerary and local food suggestions, which was a very thoughtful touch. Following their recommendations, I tried A-Rong Seafood Porridge – and it was indeed delicious! The porridge was fresh and flavorful. Even though there was a 20-minute wait during peak dinner time over the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, it was definitely worth it. What truly surprised me was the hotel's complimentary tour guide service. We booked a tour for the next day, and a knowledgeable local guide took us to sights like the former site of the Huangpu Military Academy's Chaozhou branch, the Chen Weinan Memorial Hall, the City God Temple, Paifang Street, and the Guda Temple. Her detailed explanations gave us a much deeper understanding of Chaozhou's history and culture. Strolling through the ancient city in the early morning or at night, the bluestone paths and the illuminated arcade houses had a wonderful antique charm. On Mid-Autumn night, we also enjoyed a performance at the government office, which added a delightful surprise to our trip with its great atmosphere. Overall, the service was warm and attentive, and the room was clean and comfortable. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to deeply explore the ancient city without the hassle of planning their own itinerary."

"The past few days in Chaozhou have been scorching, with temperatures at 36°C and a 'feels like' temperature of 43°C – absolutely sweltering! The hotel thoughtfully provided an extra power card, so every time I returned drenched in sweat from exploring, the best part was being greeted by a blast of cold air and a chilled bottled water from the mini-fridge – pure bliss! The reception area also had a fridge stocked with plenty of complimentary bottled water, which was a very nice touch. Inside the room, there were some local Chaoshan snacks, which were quite tasty. When I inquired where to buy them, the hotel even had an auntie bring us more to sample – I was pleasantly surprised! The hotel is only about 100 meters from Kaiyuan Temple, making it incredibly convenient to walk to attractions like the Ancient City, Guangji Bridge, and Xima Road. I even walked to Guangji Bridge three times in one day and didn't feel tired. There are also plenty of food options and souvenir shops nearby. The room was spotlessly clean, and the pillows were very comfortable. The lovely ladies at reception and the cleaning aunties were all very warm and provided excellent service. Because the heat was so unbearable, I decided last minute to have lunch at the snack shop right next door. I ordered Chaozhou braised platter rice and pig offal kway teow, and to my surprise, they were incredibly delicious – tasting just like traditional home-cooked Chaozhou food. The pig offal kway teow had a light flavor, and for only 15 yuan, it was packed with ingredients; adding black vinegar elevated the taste even further. This hotel is definitely worth recommending!"

"I chose this hotel for my trip to this city, and after staying here, it's officially on my go-to list for business trips! As soon as I arrived, the front desk staff proactively helped me with my luggage. Check-in was handled with such a warm attitude, and they patiently answered all my questions about local transportation. To top it off, they even offered me a freshly brewed hot coffee from the front desk – one sip and the exhaustion from rushing to catch my train instantly melted away 🥰. What really hits home for business travelers is that the hotel actually has a business center with shared computers. I had to make urgent edits to a proposal and send files, and instead of hunting for a print shop, I got it all done right there. Staying for three days, I didn't have to lug dirty laundry home either; the self-service laundry room was available anytime, and I could wash and dry my clothes, ready to wear. It was incredibly convenient and stress-free. Absolutely a full five-star rating! 👍🏻 A special shout-out to Guo and Li at the front desk – their service was outstanding, and their smiles were so welcoming. "The location is convenient if you’re a backpacker, as it is within easy reach of many tourist attractions. Staying here also gives you the opportunity to experience the charm of the old residential areas of the Teochew community. However, if you’re travelling with family and carrying a lot of luggage, the location may be less convenient, as cars cannot drive directly into the alley behind the property. Furthermore, the bathroom does not seem to have adequate ventilation or dehumidification. The room can become quite humid, and we noticed water droplets forming on the ceiling when the bathroom door was kept closed. We found that leaving the bathroom door open while running the air conditioning helped to reduce the moisture and dry out the room. Another area that could be improved is the delivery service. At other hotels, the front desk would usually send food deliveries from local apps directly to the room. Here, guests are required to collect their deliveries from the front desk themselves. There were also occasions when no one was available at the front desk when we went down to collect our food, which was rather inconvenient."
