"Even though we only stayed one night at Castle Hilo Hawaiian Hotel before an early flight, the experience was lovely and a clear standout compared to other nearby options. Our room was more affordable than the one we had at SCP, yet it was significantly more spacious, clean, and comfortable. We even had a private balcony, which added a really nice touch. The setting was serene, surrounded by beautiful banyan trees and with easy access to walking paths along the ocean.
The atmosphere was peaceful and welcoming! perfect for a restful night before travel. I wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy more of what the property had to offer. Highly recommend it if you're staying in Hilo."

"The location is excellent, in the town center, with many restaurants and supermarkets nearby. It's convenient for visiting the volcano and close to the airport. Cleanliness, at least superficially, seems acceptable. Breakfast ends around 8:00 or 8:30, consisting of chocolate waffles and coffee… Is there a deposit for check-in? All credit card information was manually entered, which was a first for me and made me very uneasy afterwards. My security code was also specifically verified… I suggest checking if cash is available."

"The hotel's interior facilities are complete and comfortable, and the service attitude is good. However, taxis are not allowed to drive up to the hotel lobby entrance. You have to walk out of the hotel compound to wait for a taxi at the gate, which is about a 7-8 minute walk. There's no Wi-Fi signal there, making it inconvenient to call a car. This really doesn't match the hotel's grand and upscale exterior environment and style."

"The hotel is so beautiful, there is a large internal area, you need to drive from the iron gate for ten minutes, along the beautiful road, there are small wild boars on the road, next to the waterfall, there is a waterfall behind the hotel room, only for internal residents , You can swim and boat in the pond under the waterfall, and you can also participate in their rich activities such as climbing from the waterfall or visiting their farm. Breakfast is delicious. We did not have the opportunity to have dinner. It is said that it is their chef’s no-menu dinner. They use fresh ingredients from their own farm, which is a little regrettable. I highly recommend it. I will stay a few more days next time."

"There was no air conditioning, so it wasn't too hot in the summer. February was just right; the fan provided a comfortable gentle breeze. The hotel had WiFi, but it was extremely slow, so I mostly used my own internet during my stay. I accidentally left my Apple earphones at the hotel, and they notified me via email through Ctrip. However, they only offered to keep them for one week. I had already left the Big Island for Oahu. I emailed the hotel again to ask if they could ship them back, but received no reply. After contacting the hotel through Ctrip customer service, they replied that they could only keep them for one week and wouldn't ship them back—a point deduction for service. Otherwise, the environment, facilities, convenience, and cleanliness were impeccable for the price; it was excellent."

"Tropical wooden cabin. Just a heads-up, it's a two-story building with no elevator. The facilities are very well-maintained, and the kitchen is great. The balcony is super comfortable, and the neighborhood is very quiet. At night, you'll hear frogs and insects, and during the day, birdsong. It's very close to the beach, just a 5-minute walk to get into the water. Be aware that there aren't many places to eat or drink nearby, so you'll need to stock up beforehand. If you plan to do laundry, make sure to get coins from the front desk upon arrival. The front desk closes after 5:30 PM. The owner is a very nice Vietnam War veteran. There's also a very friendly cat at the property. This place really gives you a taste of local life."

"The hotel itself is better than expected; You can tell that they went through a massive renovation in order to give a chill vibes based stay (on the outside). Inside of the room, it’s definitely an old hotel… I liked the furniture, but the windows were too open for my liking (you get the feeling that anyone can look into your room); Not as much of an issue since we used the curtains! The bath towels were covered in hair (ranging from long strands to tiny ***** pieces) which I found to be disgusting. The staff were more than willing to switch out the towels (there was still hair on them but a little dusting off mainly did the job). There was tiny ***** hair pieces in the bathtub as well, but I washed them down the drain so no biggie. The main issue that I had with this stay was that you could hear everything that was going on in rooms next door or outside. We heard loud screaming and fighting into the early ams, and it took a while for them to stop. This is not the hotel’s fault, but if you do stay here, keep in mind that the rooms aren’t very spacious, you can hear everything, and there might be hair in your towels. Overall, I really loved staying here and found it to be quite charming. The view in front of the hotel is INSANE. Though I listed negative traits about this hotel, I feel that it’s important to give some transparency to readers of this review. Mostly everyone goes into a hotel thinking that it’s 1000% clean and perfect. However, for me, the negative reviews are what I look for so that I know what to expect. You will definitely love the vibes and views this hotel has to offer, as well as the friendliness of the staff who worlds here."
