Hotels in Dianchi Lake Scenic Area/ Sunac World, Kunming

I spent a long time choosing a hotel for our trip to Kunming because I wanted somewhere that would keep the kids entertained, but also be suitable for celebrating our wedding anniversary and a birthday. I chose this place primarily for the bathtub in this room type and its convenient location. However, once we arrived, I was truly impressed by how comprehensive the amenities are. From meals to entertainment, and catering to both children and adults, everything is taken care of. The staff were also incredibly friendly and attentive. The biggest surprise was the handwritten birthday card – in this digital age, a handwritten card really warms the heart. We booked two nights, and we didn't even leave the hotel for one of them; we spent the entire day there with the kids and never got bored. My children are already talking about coming back again.

Place is a two-room apartment Homestay conveniently located near the Park 1903 Mall and Central Avenue, which is the main attraction around this area. If you are into designer (Coach, Boss etc) or sports brands (Adidas, Nike, etc) the 1903 mall offers a few selected Factory Outlets here. Anyway, the Homestay we stayed in has its pros and cons. Pros: Place is spacious and has most of the usual stuffs like 55” TV, washing machine, microwave oven, etc. There's also a convenience store right downstairs. Main point (again) is that it's strategically located. Cons: Place has a lot of mosquitos, has low lighting on the corridor (sensor lights), lift is super slow and the toilet basin only has cold ❄️ water.

This hotel boasts a fantastic location, directly facing Daguan Park. It's just a few minutes' walk to Dianchi Lake, no taxi needed, offering expansive views. The front desk staff were warm, attentive, and efficient with the check-in process, patiently addressing all our needs. The room was clean and tidy, and its proximity to Dianchi Lake made sightseeing incredibly convenient. Overall, it was a very comfortable stay, and I would definitely choose this hotel again for my next visit.

Great location, about a 15-minute drive from the train station. Downstairs, you'll find the Runcheng commercial area, and it's close to Wanda and Yunfang, making both travel and daily life convenient. The high-rise lobby is themed around camellia flowers, creating an elegant atmosphere. The rooms are clean and spacious, with comfortable Serta mattresses, and the bathroom features a separate wet and dry area with Peter Thomas Roth toiletries – thoughtful details. The buffet breakfast includes specialty Yunnan rice noodles, and the freshly ground coffee is aromatic. The 24-hour gym and free laundry room are very practical. The front desk service is efficient and enthusiastic. It's suitable for both business trips and leisure travel, offering great value for money. I'll choose this place again next time I'm in Kunming.

Came here with a friend, and it totally exceeded our expectations! The B&B has a lovely French vibe, and the room decor is so romantic. We really enjoyed lying in bed watching movies on the projector at night – very cozy and comfortable. Taking photos in the community area was also great; we didn't even need to go looking for specific scenic spots [facepalm emoji]. Plus, there were so many flowers! The B&B is within walking distance of Haigeng Dam, perfect for watching the sunset. The toiletries and bedding provided in the room were excellent, showing great attention to detail. The owner's service was also incredibly thoughtful, attentive, and responsive to all our needs throughout our stay. For just over 200 yuan, the value for money was really good. They even gave us a box of brown sugar when we checked out, haha! It's a fantastic place for a relaxing weekend getaway. Highly recommend!

The biggest pleasant surprise of my Kunming trip was definitely the Dianyu Healing Hotel. It's conveniently located near Daguan Park and boasts excellent facilities: a clean outdoor pool, a gym, and complimentary self-service laundry and drying. They even offer daily sound bowl healing sessions and morning yoga. The front desk staff, especially one young man, provided meticulous service; check-in was efficient, and he proactively shared sightseeing routes for Dianchi Lake. Even food deliveries were brought to the room by a robot! The breakfast spread was a rich mix of Western and Chinese options. The lobby has a serene, Zen-like atmosphere, and cleanliness was impeccable everywhere. The self-service laundry and sound bowl healing were incredibly relaxing for both body and mind. Plus, parking was convenient, and the room had excellent soundproofing, ensuring a peaceful night's sleep. Overall, my stay was comfortable and relaxing from start to finish. I highly recommend this place for anyone vacationing in Kunming!

This guesthouse was an absolute delight! We stayed in a twin tatami room with our little one, and the low, spacious beds meant our child could run around and play freely without any worry of bumps or bruises – it was incredibly reassuring. The courtyard garden was meticulously maintained, featuring a lemon tree laden with fruit, a beautiful assortment of succulents and cacti, and a charming thatched tea pavilion perfect for a relaxing tea break. The lush greenery and tidy pathways in the yard kept our child entertained, exploring all the flowers and plants. Inside, the room was decorated with a simple yet elegant style, and the bedding was wonderfully soft and comfortable. The overall atmosphere was serene and peaceful. It's perfect for both family trips and relaxing getaways. We've already added it to our list for our next trip, highly recommended!

The hotel owner was incredibly friendly, and the auntie who made breakfast was also wonderful – very thoughtful, always worried we wouldn't have enough to eat, and there was a great variety of food. You can also borrow electric scooters for free here. The environment is really nice and quiet. From personal experience, staying here is definitely worth it!

The hotel is conveniently located near Haigeng Dam, and as soon as you step in, it feels like a Banyan Tree resort, with lush tropical plants, fountain courtyards, and especially the stunning large palm trees. The room is very spacious, and the decor has a great sense of quality. The bedding is comfortable, and the toiletries are Byredo Blanche, which shows excellent taste. The breakfast is rich, especially the delicious rice noodles – just make sure to go early as it gets crowded. The service is exceptional, especially Nina, who, knowing we were traveling with a child, installed two bed rails and prepared many baby essentials for us. It was incredibly thoughtful, and we are very grateful. The rice noodles at Xiangdao Xuan Chinese restaurant are so authentic; both the chicken soup and ingredients are excellent. This was a truly satisfying stay, and InterContinental will definitely be my first choice when I return to Kunming.
