This was our second time staying here, and we chose the ground-floor room with a private hot spring bath tub, which was super attractive and truly enjoyable. The room is well-organized and beautifully decorated, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The only downside was the air conditioner, which wasn’t quite strong enough during our stay. Overall, it’s a relaxing spot perfect for unwinding, and we’d definitely come back again! 🌿

A great homestay!! I stayed here for one night while biking from Taitung to Hualien. Many tea farms in the area. It’s close to the Tropic of Cancer marker. The room was extremely clean and spacious and so comfortable overall.
Once upon a time, in a remote corner of Ruishui Township, there was a barren piece of land. No one knew that the ground they walked on was a hidden treasure, rich with natural hot springs and minerals. A young man, standing at the age of 30, decided to take a chance for his hometown and his youth. At a depth of 430 meters underground, he discovered an entirely new world.
This journey was a story of gradual accumulation and continuous transformation. Every step forward was meant to let Ruixiong’s guests truly feel warmth and a sense of home. Over the years, our friends who witnessed us tear down various structures and watched us grow, we are deeply grateful to you.
In May, our square public bath was retired, moving into history. Many were in disbelief, even thinking it was just an internet rumor. Thoughtful guests still called to ask and share their concerns. Next to retire was the semi-open-air hot spring bathhouse. We knew that many of our loyal friends came to Ruixiong just for this experience. On the last day of operation, November 30, 2022, seeing your expressions of nostalgia made us realize we must strive even harder. Thank you, dear friends; your support is our driving force. In two years, we will re-emerge with new elegance, so remember to come back and visit us!
Due to the color and transparency of the hot springs, there are often misunderstandings. When it first emerges from the earth, the spring water is clear and colorless. However, after a brief moment of oxidation, it transforms into a golden hue, known as the “Golden Spring.” This water, with its high mineral content, crystallizes easily (calcium carbonate being the main component), and the color deepens as the water temperature increases. With this unique nature, Ruixiong has upheld the use of the original spring water for the past 20 years.
This place was fantastic. After a long day of cycling I was in dire need of a hot bath. The hot spring water is pumped straight into each room. The staff were very friendly and helpful too.

I really enjoyed my stay on a weekday. Even though the facilities are showing their age, the overall experience was good. The room, bathroom, and hot tub were all very spacious, and the bed was comfortable. However, there were definitely too few power outlets.

Really love this high quality living area n make sure to book as early as possible!
The service, food, and scenery were unforgettable. There's an outdoor swimming pool and public bath, but unfortunately, the bath requires advance reservations and there are small black mosquitoes. The rooms were quiet and spacious, but the bathroom door was a bit stiff; in winter, if two people want to shower consecutively at night, be aware that the hot water might not heat up in time. Breakfast was delicious, and the landlady was always very welcoming and attentive, even proactively asking if we needed help taking photos.

Excellent
GGuest UserOne of the better (if not the best) hotel chains I’ve stayed at in Taiwan. I’ve visited Taiwan about 10 times and stayed here for 2 nights, and overall I was very satisfied with the experience.
They provide free bicycles (3 hours limit), which is useful for getting around Hualien. Breakfast has a good spread, and there are complimentary ice cream and drinks available in the lobby around the clock. We didn’t realise they also offer late-night supper from 7pm to 9pm, which was honestly as good as a proper dinner buffet, with a good mix of Western and Chinese dishes and even live entertainment.
The room was spacious and well maintained, with no hygiene concerns. Shower water pressure was good. Noise levels were generally fine, though louder sounds like furniture movement could occasionally be heard.
The hotel is conveniently located near a convenience store, restaurants, KTV, and a cinema, and it’s about a 10-minute walk from the station. You can also cycle to the night market within 15 minutes, making it super easy to get around the main area without getting a taxi.
Overall, a very good stay and very good value for money. While a gym would be nice, I would definitely consider staying at other branches on future trips.
HHSIAO CHINGA wonderful experience, surrounded by mountains and streams, breathing in the fresh forest air and enjoying the natural scenery. The hotel's facilities were great, and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. Due to its secluded location, all meals were enjoyed at the hotel. The ingredients were quite unique, and I especially loved the blanched seasonal vegetables at dinner 😋. A pleasant fragrance permeated the entire hotel; I wondered if it was used to deter insects!
GGuest UserThe location is convenient, and they offer free bikes (single-speed, but free!). The room view was expansive and beautiful, and breakfast was decent. Unfortunately, I'm not sure if it was because of the towels, but I developed several red rashes on my body. I only noticed this after checking out the next morning, so I didn't get a chance to tell the hotel.
GGuest UserWell strategic location Hotel. The room is bright. But the room housekeeping is very poor. Eventhough i requested to clean the room, the auntie did not clean it. She just tidy up the bed very fast and change new towel. Never vacuum/mop the floor, dust and hair on the floor very obviously. So don’t expect she vacuum the bed if u request to change the bed sheet. Got flea/ bed bugs. I thought my eczema flare up. But once both my parents also experienced the same. And I noticed the bed sheet got a few spots a little dot. Then yeah it’s bed bugs. I hope the housekeeping auntie can make it better.
NnotrevePositives:
- like all lakeshore hotels in Taiwan, fantastic breakfast spread, especially incorporating local hualien food like gongzheng baos etc…
- sauna with a sea view.. what else to ask for
- children playroom
- comfy rooms and excellent service all round by all staff
- bath tub near the window where you can soak and see the sea
- coin operated laundry room with washers and dryers (affordable plus only two each.. so may have to wait)
- small snacks and beverages provided for guests daily on the ground floor
Negatives:
- only really gripes is the location.. about 2 km away from the city centre so not much to do in the neighbourhood
- sea view room is actually the view of the port and a distance away… technically hotel is not wrong.. but should lower your own expectations
AAnonymous UserHad a very underwhelming experience for the money that we paid for this hotel. Decor was very outdated (i.e. 2000s), which was understandable as this is an old hotel. Service staff was quite rude when we asked for directions and recommendations for food and things to see around the area. Do note that the carpark is very small and there are no parking lots surrounding the area. When we checked in, the carpark attendant told us that their carpark lot was at full capacity.
GGuest UserOverall a good experience (except one thing - see in the bottom). The location is somewhat central and on the walking promenade, but not very close to the railway station or the waterfront. About 25-35 min walk to the railway station but still okay. About 15 min to the waterfront.
Food options: there are a couple of local restaurants right near across from the promenade, including a noodle shop, a tempura donburi and a fried seafood place - all along the promenade. There's also a PX Mart not too far away, about 5 min walk.
The rooms are spacious and clean, very new renovation (as of 2025, seems like 2023-2024), no fridge in the room (on the first floor only), but there's a kettle. The bed was somewhat stiff but okay.
Overall felt like great value for the location and the quality, and especially the room size.
The only drawback - Easy to fix - was the towels. There was no proper size bathroom towels on my stay in May 2025. The small towels are rather insuficcient for showering.
GGuest UserThe exterior may not be very stunning and the hotel may feel a bit old, but after entering, you will slowly discover its inner charm.
The Daoxiang double room we stayed in was very elegant and large, especially the oversized bed which was super comfortable to sleep on. I am an elderly person who is undergoing neck rehabilitation and I am very picky about beds and pillows, but I slept very soundly and deeply here. A big thumbs up to the hotel owner for choosing the hard bed facilities. The room is super clean. Although the hardware equipment is not new, it has a simple and elegant charm, which I like. It's a bit like Kung Fu tea that needs to be savored slowly.
We are an elderly couple who came to Hualien to visit friends. Before checking in, we requested a quiet room with no smoke. We could not stay in the side room due to our physical condition. Although the room had some minor flaws in sound insulation, the hotel met our needs. The peaceful and pleasant environment in the rice fields will give you a good night's sleep.
The backyard also gets high marks, and is perfect for a relaxing stroll.
The breakfast was rich and delicious.
This is very suitable for us who don't need dazzling amusement facilities and come here to enjoy a comfortable and relaxing accommodation environment.
The only drawback is that they don't provide dinner, but we solved that by using the hotel's instant noodles and ordering takeout via mobile phone.
The price is very reasonable and it is a highly recommended accommodation.

GGuest UserThe room was spacious, tidy, and clean. The prison theme was amusing, and they even have a photo area where you can pose as an inmate. The surrounding area is pleasant, with plenty of restaurants and shops within walking distance.
@@travel_with_the_sunIt's clean, it's close to the train station, where you can rent a scooter to explore Taroko National Park, also have a gas station next door to refill your scooter and you are next to the main road to go to the National Park. There is enough stuff to cook yourself something. Communication with the landlord on self check-in went well and I could check-in earlier because my bed was free, actually I was the only guest in the dorm on my first of two nights.
It was calm and the entire hostel & bathroom was very clean. I liked, that you can buy razors, one-way towels, toothbrush kit for a small fee, even if I didn't need it.
The only downside, and that's why I gave it -3 stars in amenity was, that the mattress was so hard, it felt like sleeping on the floor. The room had a bit of strange moisture smell, but I could get used to it quickly. If there would be a thicker, less hard mattress, that place would get total points.
On the back door / balcony you have a nice view of the mountains. (The picture attached is taken from the road, but if you crop the lower half, it's what you see)
