I chose this hotel for my trip to Takayama. It used to be the Wing Hotel Hida Takayama, but now it's called Koko.
**Cleanliness:** The hotel has high-legged beds, and there was dust underneath, which personally bothered me.
**Facilities:** The hotel parking requires advance reservation and has two areas: one directly under the hotel and another 500m away at a different establishment. The price is 500 yen per night. There aren't enough spaces at the hotel, so if you reserve late, you have to walk a long way to get your car, which is quite inconvenient. Additionally, the washing machines and dryers are located inside the communal hot spring bathhouse, and on the men's side, there's only one washer and one dryer, which is really too few. You often have to wait in line.
**Environment:** The location is quite peaceful, about 1km from Takayama Station.
**Service:** Overall good, but not outstanding.

The quality of the hotel is very high. It's conveniently located near the train station and a 15 minute walk to the old town. The spa is really nice, clean, and spacious. The family spa is a nice touch. Rooms are very large, comfortable beds, with a tub. The only drawback is breakfast. The restaurant is too small to accommodate guests. It's odd that it's common in Japan to have large hotels, with many guests, include breakfast, and then build a tiny restaurant. Makes no sense. Options are limited and food is the same every day. I wouldn't recommend it, but there's so few options nearby or in the town in general, that you basically have to eat there. Just go before 8 AM. Otherwise, the hotel is really nice.

I was very satisfied with this hotel. The room was quite spacious, and for the price in Japan, it offers great value for money. The main thing is that the stay was very comfortable 👍. The hotel had many European and American tourists coming and going. The location is very close to the Nohi Bus Center and the train station, about a 5-minute walk, so transportation is very convenient. It's also not far from Takayama Old Town, just a leisurely stroll away. There are many good restaurants nearby as well. The Hida beef soba noodle shop next door was particularly delicious. If I go to Takayama again, this hotel will be my top choice.

Hotel and Spa Gift Takayama provided an unforgettable stay in the Japanese Alps. The location is perfect—just a short walk from the train station and the beautiful old town . Our room was spacious and immaculate, blending modern comfort with traditional touches . The highlight was absolutely the stunning rooftop onsen with incredible mountain views; it was pure bliss after a day of exploring . The staff went above and beyond, and the included breakfast featuring local Hida beef was a delicious treat . Having a relaxing spa experience right in the hotel made our visit to Takayama truly special. We cannot wait to return!

Excellent location, right by the Takayama train station. Hotel was new with clean facilities, breakfast was really yummy. Room was reasonably sized and clean with a washer dryer. While there was no gym, the onsen facilities at the hotel were spacious and new. Outdoor onsen experience was amazing while looking at the snow outside.

Our first stop on our Nagoya trip was a bit tricky to find; the hotel signs weren't very clear, and we drove around twice before spotting it. If you're coming by JR, it's quite convenient, less than a 10-minute walk. The room was spacious with three single beds lined up, and the layout was well-designed, tidy, and clean. The hotel feels relatively new, and the facilities have a unique, designer feel. The service was standard and efficient. Breakfast is a customized set menu that you book the day before. I chose the Japanese-style one, and it was a nice experience.

Highly recommend! The entire service was excellent. As soon as we got off the bus, there's an iCafe right under the JR station where you can drop off your luggage. They then send it directly to the hotel for you. So by the time you're done exploring and ready to check in, your bags are already in your room. Plus, there's a shuttle bus every hour from 6:30 AM to 9:15 PM that picks you up and drops you off at the JR station, making the whole experience very thoughtful. The hot springs are also a highlight – there are many outdoor baths, all super relaxing. Breakfast is very substantial too; you absolutely have to try the fish and natto. The front desk staff were incredibly accommodating as well. They proactively added an extra bed for us. We're two adults and one child, and our room originally only had two standard beds, but they added another one next to them even before we checked in.

A wonderful experience staying in a studio apartment with the kitchenette. You may visit the near by Boss supermarket or the other opposite supermarket to purchase hida beef and grill them in the apartment instead of eating in the grill shop. Save lots of money. So close to train station and Nohi bus terminal, less than 3 minutes walking. Easy to get around for 1 day trip like Shirakawago, Ropeway, Gero, Hirayu onsen. Staff do not speak fluent English but they do understand English. Coffee, tea are all provided in the front desk. For me, only thing that I dislike is the hard pillow. Overall excellent stay 👍.

The service was exceptional, every detail was handled with utmost care. As we were leaving, it started to snow heavily, and a staff member actually ran out to give us four umbrellas. The Japanese breakfast is definitely worth trying. The hotel's location near the station makes it incredibly convenient for getting around.

Amazing
TThanathip MoolvongOne of the best I have experienced with ryokan staying. I love a small hotel/inn as it is not crowded. This place answers my expectations.
Its location is a bit far off but it is not an issue. It is accessible by public bus from Takayama. Each room has private onsen. It also has 2 outdoor, private onsen on first-come-first-serve basis. There are also public baths for male and female.
Room was in good condition. Bathroom is a bit small for me. Only complaint I would have was foot step noise from the room on upper floor. Very annoyed.
Food was great. I stayed 2 nights, the hotel provided 2 different types of food - appreciated.
Highway recommended.
AAllblue1772The facilities have a more European-American style, simple, clean, and brightly colored. There's an outdoor onsen, which, though not huge, is perfectly fine when it's not too crowded. The lounge is also nice, a great spot to rest your feet when it's really cold.
Transportation: Extremely convenient. It's only a ten-minute walk to the station, even with luggage, which is incredibly important. You can reach Takayama Jinya and Hie Shrine within 25 minutes.
Surrounding Amenities: There's a large 7-Eleven convenience store just a ten-minute walk away. And right downstairs is the best Hida beef restaurant in Takayama – it was so easy to grab a ticket early.
Cleanliness: Decent, didn't look dirty.
Service: I have to give a special shout-out to the front desk staff – they spoke the best English of any hotel we encountered on our Nagoya trip. Communication was so smooth and pleasant. My wife forgot her onsen password, and the front desk quickly resolved it. I can't imagine how cold it would have been if the front desk didn't speak English and she had to go down in her onsen attire on such a chilly day.
GGuest UserThis hotel is absolutely perfect!!! The room is super spacious, we could open all three of our suitcases. It's only a 1-minute walk from the Nohi Bus Terminal, which is incredibly convenient! Maruaki is just a 5-minute walk away. Cross the street from the hotel and walk straight to the old town and morning market; the location is truly excellent, the kind where you don't even need navigation. The room has an induction cooktop, microwave, and various utensils, so you can cook your own meals. There's a large supermarket and McDonald's behind the hotel, but you need to take an underpass and walk for about 10 minutes. All in all, it's perfect. I'm so satisfied.
GGuest UserThe location is very close to Takayama Station.
The first thing I didn’t know before staying at this hotel (or at other hotels in Takayama) is that there is a 200-yen accommodation tax and paid this tax in the hotel before check-in (The staff said it is Takayama city’s accommodation tax).
For my impression of this hotel, it’s located very and very close to Takayama station (in front of the station and walk 1-2 minutes) .
Although the hotel looks old, there are many facilities that I loved such as public bath, electronic body massage machine, vending machine and free ice in hotel lobby.
GGuest UserThis was such a lovely place to stay.
The room was nice and spacious, allowing us to feel at home.
Not only were we taken care of by means of beautiful breakfast and dinner, but the staff were extremely helpful when we talked to them about hiking in Kamokochi.
I would highly recommend booking this place especially with a meal plan, since it was nice to have food sorted after Hiking all day.
雲雲尼王A small hot spring hotel. I really feel the hotel's care. Compared to more prosperous areas, I prefer this kind of remote small hotel. I feel that the hotel wants to do every place carefully. Although the price is cheap, there are many details. Everything is well done. For example, there is a self-service snack and drink area in the lobby, which is available 24 hours a day. Yukata for children is also provided. The hotel rooms are very clean. I wonder if they have been renovated, so the rooms are very new and clean.
SsyamimiaziahThe room was quite small but all the amenities is good. there's onsen (which i didnt explore) but you can basically monitor everything from the tv, to check if the laundry is currently used or if the onsen is crowded. theres free drink and food upon arrival. and the front desk can speak english 😁 anddddd theres family mart in front of the hotelllllll. with parking some more and not that far from hida town.
YYo-yo fooOverall I enjoyed my stay , just a little bit inconvenient was the electricity trip in the morning, but after reporting to staff, very quickly they came to solve the issue .
DDuboisTristanThis place was absolute amazing! By far our favorite place from our whole trip. The location was absolutely perfect for the Takyama festival. We were literally right there with shops and street vendors 50 yards away and the parades would have been right there as well if they weren't canceled due to rain. The rooms were humble and traditional and really added to the experience. The tea in the room was exceptionally good and the traditional Japanese breakfast they served was also delicious and fun to eat. We didn't even know they had a legitimate hot spring on site, but they did! They are Japanese style baths so be ready for that, but the water was therapeutic and so relaxing. I cant recommend this place enough and I would absolute make it a point to visit Takyama and stay here again for a few days on our next trip to Japan. They were such great kind hosts. And I cant believe the price, what an great value. Do yourself a favor and stay here. I'm not sure why the other bad reviews are here I read some of them and they sound like entitled stupid American tourists so ignore them and stay here.
