I've been wanting to visit Shirahama for almost 10 years, so I picked this onsen resort, rumored to be among Asia's top 11. For Japanese onsen hotels, all-inclusive is a must! However, my overall experience was just so-so, probably because I've stayed at so many Japanese onsen hotels before. It definitely boasts an unbeatable sea view; I booked a garden view room, and when I tried to upgrade to a sea view at check-in, the front desk attendant said none were available. Yet, when I entered my room, I could still see the ocean! The sea view here isn't as breathtaking as in Izu. From Shirahama Station, there's no shuttle, so we had to take a taxi, which was about 2500 yen. The most impressive part of the hot springs here is the co-ed open-air ocean view bath – the scenery is truly incredible! The food was only decent, incomparable to what we experienced at Kusatsu Onsen, Yamato no Sato in Izu, Lake Kawaguchiko at Mount Fuji, or even Gero Onsen. The staff weren't particularly enthusiastic either. There were a lot of Chinese tourists, some from Hong Kong and Macau, but very few Japanese tourists, mostly elderly ones. This onsen hotel seems to be a popular spot hyped up by Chinese travelers! If you're only visiting Kansai, Shirahama is definitely worth a trip. But if you're going to other parts of Japan, it might not be worth making a special journey for.

Facilities: The onsen is a traditional Japanese hot spring. While the outdoor bath doesn't offer scenic views, the water temperature was perfect. We stayed in a Japanese-style room this time. The occupancy was low, so it was peaceful and uncrowded.
Cleanliness: It was spotless and met all standards.
Environment: The location is fantastic! It's right next to Senjojiki and just a 3-5 minute walk from the only small restaurant in the vicinity.

Facilities: Typical Marriott standard. I specifically booked a Japanese-Western style room to experience it, and indeed, the combination was a bit 'unusual'. The good thing is the tatami area can be used to store a lot of items!
Cleanliness: Tidy and clean.
Environment: Although many people complain about the 'hill' issue, since we took taxis up and down, I didn't feel the need to complain much. Walking up and down the slope without luggage can indeed be a bit tiring, but I just took it as exercise (I can understand other reviewers' complaints).
Service: Very good! We arrived at Shirahama Station around 8 PM, and there were no buses, so we had to wait for a taxi. It was raining and snowing, and no taxi came for a long time, leaving us shivering from the cold… I called the hotel to ask if they could pick us up, and the lady at the front desk quickly arranged for a colleague to pick us up from the station! I'm very grateful for their 'help in time of need'! (No charge) Also, the front desk reception, breakfast guidance, and greetings were all very warm and friendly 👍
A good stay overall!

It is very close to the three-section wall and the Millennium Shiba, and it takes only a few minutes to walk. The hotel's breakfast and dinner are very good, the front desk service is also very good, the water in the soup is mountain spring water, you can see the leaves. I like this hotel very much and I will go next time.

Wonderful hotel. The rooms are small, but with a beautiful view of the ocean. There is everything you need in the room: a stove, a refrigerator, a grill, a steamer. There are all the necessary utensils. The only thing is that we couldn't adjust the shower for a long time - the temperature is cool. There are many shops nearby. The ocean is a 10-minute walk away. Very friendly guys at the reception.

We had a lovely 6-day stay at Shiraraso Grand Hotel with breakfast and dinner included. What stood out most was the personal touch in everything—something you rarely find in chain hotels. Every staff member works well as a team to ensure guests are comfortable, and we appreciated that throughout our stay.
Our room was meticulously cleaned each day. The view was spectulae. We had good sleep because of the comfortable beds and pillow. The hot bath was a nice bonus, and we also enjoyed the free wine events.
The buffet breakfast and dinner were genuinely impressive. Over six nights, the chef prepared nearly 10 courses each evening with almost no repetition. We truly appreciated the variety and effort. They accommodated our special request of replacing the sashimi dishes to cooked food.
A special thank you to Mr. T. FUKUSHIMA. Due to my own mistake, I had booked a room with futon beds that we wouldn't have been able to use. He arranged a room upgrade for us (with a reasonable fee) and looked after us during our entire trip. His kindness and helpfulness made a real difference.
Also, thank you to Miss S. OZAWA, who helped us with a few personal requests to ensure we enjoyed our stay.
All the staff were polite and helpful throughout. We left feeling very well taken care of.

The hotel's location is excellent, making it very convenient to get to all the main attractions. The surrounding scenery of the hotel itself is also beautiful, and the facilities offer a great experience. While the dining options are quite varied, the Japanese cuisine isn't among the best, and the ingredient selection is just average. There are some seafood restaurants nearby that can offer a good alternative.

2. The hotel is excellent and newly renovated. The hot springs are fantastic.
3. Transportation is inconvenient, but there's a shuttle service to Shirarahama Beach.
4. It's about a 15-20 minute walk downhill to a convenience store. The distance isn't actually that far.

I had a wonderful stay here and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Shirahama for a relaxing getaway.
First off, the location is fantastic. The bus stop is right in front of the hotel, and after taking bus #12 from Shirahama JR Station, you get off directly at the hotel. The hotel staff are very welcoming and were at the entrance to help with luggage – super friendly! Across the street from the hotel is Shirarahama Beach, which is stunning whether it's cloudy or sunny. The white sand paired with the blue ocean is a real treat for the eyes. Shirahama is very quiet at night, and shops close early, but within a five-minute walk, there's a FamilyMart, Lawson, and a 24-hour supermarket. So, if you need snacks or drinks, these are great options. The hotel also has a microwave on the first floor for heating food. You can even buy fireworks at the supermarket to enjoy on the beach.
Room: The room was very spacious with plenty of space and directly faced the beach. During my two-day stay, I spent time just relaxing in the room, watching the sunset, observing people on the beach, or heading downstairs to cross the road and lie on the beach or play in the water. It was incredibly relaxing for both my mind and body. The room had both a bathtub and a shower. The bathtub was right next to the balcony, so you could soak while enjoying the view. The hotel also has indoor hot springs, but unfortunately, I couldn't use them.
Service: Most of the staff were middle-aged men and women, very kind and gentle. There was also a Chinese-speaking girl with a particularly soft voice who always greeted me with a smile. The service was excellent.
Although breakfast was the same every day, it tasted quite good.
Overall, I was very satisfied with my stay and would definitely choose Sanrakuso again if I come back to Shirahama.

Amazing
SShuijinshuijinThe location is decent, just a three-minute walk from Shirahama Station. There are supermarkets and small restaurants nearby, making it suitable for a 1-2 day stay. The owner is a friendly and welcoming Chinese lady. I booked a double room, which was spacious and warm with air conditioning. The only drawback was that the double bed was made up of two single beds pushed together, and there was a very hard board at the joint, which made me, who is used to sleeping in the middle of the bed, feel a bit uncomfortable.
GGuest UserAlthough I only stayed in Shirahama for one night, I canceled two hotels in succession and came to Haiyue after struggling. In a quiet harbor, the boss was elegant and elegant, Lao Bai was enthusiastic and meticulous, and communication was smooth throughout the process. Opened more than a year ago, the facilities are very new, and the room is very big. You can lie on the tatami and watch the sunrise directly. You can drink up to 6 bottles of drinks a day and it is impossible to finish them. Pola toiletries have two series from makeup remover to moisturizer. There are also pigeons for children. The bathing supplies are so meticulous that they provide socks and silk eye masks. The bathing pool is super clean, and there are all kinds of ice creams for free, and the meals provided are also very rich. Despite his busy schedule, Lao Bai also drove part-time as a tour guide to take us to visit the scenic spots. He showed his sincerity in every aspect. He is already thinking about coming to Haiyue next time when the weather is hot.
WWinnie WMI rented this hot spring hotel in Baibin this time. I personally feel that it is very worthwhile. The room is clean, there is a separate bathroom and a private style. When I checked in, the staff proposed to drink at the lounge. The small gift and the toiletries were the same. We immediately sighed and sighed. Two cups of draft beer, this arrangement is very intimate. Dinner can be arranged at 6 or 7 o'clock. The ingredients are very rich. The abalone is delicious, and the Kumano and the cattle are delicious. Every time the staff at the meal has an explanation, although the communication is difficult, but the squatting is very dedicated to using Google translate translation than mine. The service is really unbearable.
I originally bought the plum wine and planned to drink in the room. I was worried about how to ask them to drink ice cubes. I knew that as soon as I entered the room, there was a large edible ice bucket to place the cabinet. I immediately felt that the hotel was really intimate!
The second morning breakfast can be picked at 9 o'clock, because we plan to get up and soak in the hot spring again, breakfast is also rich, eat to take a belly room.
Overall, this experience is good, it is worth recommending!
GGuest UserThis hotel offers self-check-in. The hotel will send you a check-in code via Ctrip Messages. Simply follow the on-screen instructions. It's about 150 meters from the bus stop, making it a beautiful and quiet area. The bakery downstairs is delicious. The room isn't large, but the balcony is nice. Shirahama's coastal attractions are easily accessible by bus or on foot. The Sandanbeki and Thousand Layer Terraces are both within a 1km walk, and bus access to attractions like White Beach is also available. The public kitchen downstairs offers purified drinking water and a microwave.
11595150****I stayed in both the main building and the annex, and the annex offers significantly better value for money than the main building. All facilities are shared, and I highly recommend the hot spring.
I spent the first night in the main building and the second in the annex. Before arriving, I saw pictures with a Syrian-style aesthetic and mentally prepared myself for something run-down. However, I actually found the annex, with its Japanese-style design, to be superior to the main building and more suitable for younger guests.
The only drawback was the overly rigid front desk staff. After checking out of the main building, I seamlessly processed my check-in for the annex, but still had to wait until 3 PM to get the keys.
Also, on the night of my check-in, I could hear a group of Korean girls chattering loudly on the public balcony downstairs from my room on the second floor; they kept talking until past midnight.
GGuest UserThe Japanese-style house was dismantled into a guest house. It is only for girls. It is better. It is not a mixed bag. The owner Rinji is a man, but it seems that he can't live here, so our actions are OK. If you don’t bring your own towel in the bath, use the towel at the homestay for 100yan, and wash your clothes for 100yan.
GGuest UserThe hotel is conveniently located right by a bus stop. The onsen hotel offers a great variety of food. The dinner buffet included sashimi, and breakfast featured local specialties. The Japanese-style tatami beds were very comfortable. A pleasant surprise was the complimentary drinks bar, perfect for enjoying after a relaxing bath.
包包包BA very good experience. The house is very clean and can accommodate 6 people. But the house agent can explain clearly where to get the house key, but the email instructions are unclear. Otherwise very good.
GGeraldLim1Beautiful Ryokan! The room I stayed in had tatami floors and western beds. The doors slide instead of open outwards like they usually do. Toilets are relatively small, but the shower had great water pressure and temperature! However we did not shower much because.. We showered at the Onsen instead since we were there to spend time! The Onsen is tattoo-friendly as confirmed by the check in staff, and the water really had skin smoothing effects. Yukatas are available at lobby area for all guests, and level two has a restaurant with microwave and ice machine outside for your konbini meals. No view from the room, but that's fine cos the Onsen itself was worth a visit. Steep short hill up to the lobby, but if you drive then that's fine. Free to use outdoor BBQ area, but didn't have the chance to. Rooms were comfy, sleep was good with minimal disturbance. Side note: my underwear got stolen at the onsen and I never managed to find it back again but that's fine cos it was worth the Onsen experience. Stayed two nights here, no regrets, would totally do it again! Oh and Onsen area has got numbered lockers to store your belongings but not your undies!
GGuest UserOverall was a good experience and nice environment, food was good.
Improvement:-
It will be good to have buggy service for customers regardless of time as some of us may have big and many luggages to carry by hand to the room.
It will be better to have more different variety and choice of dinner food the next day, as we were dining two days with almost same food.
