🛍️ **Nearby Amenities:** Miyagawa Morning Market, Ajikura, and Akimaru are about a 10-minute walk away. There's also a large supermarket and a drugstore nearby.

🛌 **Twin Beds Can Be Combined:** The two twin beds in the room can be put together to create a super large bed (over 2.4 meters), perfect for families with kids – no crowding.
📦 **Spacious:** At 22 square meters, the room is significantly larger than hotels in major Japanese cities, so you can open your luggage without any hassle.
🚿 There's a bathtub in the room for a soak. However, for just showering, the public bath is highly recommended as it's more spacious, especially when showering with children.

GGuest UserThe Wi-Fi was terrible; there was none in the room initially. They fixed it later, and I got two bars of signal, but it was still poor. There's no hot spring here; what they call a hot spring is just tap water. The bedding was awful; I got bitten all over and felt very itchy, and the duvet cover kept coming off the comforter. This price is just not worth it; my child's skin was red and itchy from bites.

カカオリのパパI honestly can't give this guesthouse even a slightly bad review; it's a perfect 100 out of 100, no, make that 150 points! The staff, both the young man and the ladies, prepared breakfast for us early. At 7:27 AM, they politely called our room to let us know breakfast was ready (it was supposed to start at 8 AM, but they knew we had a bus to catch, so they prepared it ahead of time). And when we arrived at the bus station yesterday, the young man was already waiting for us there, helping us carry our luggage upstairs to the front desk. The emotional value they provided was off the charts, and breakfast and dinner were both perfect! There's truly nothing to pick apart. No wonder this guesthouse has no bad reviews; it would feel wrong to give it even 0.1 points less. It absolutely deserves full marks plus 50 points!

GGinoyiHirayu Onsen is a well-known hot spring in Japan, and it's incomparable to those that aren't natural. The elevation is quite high, so it often snows in winter, making for beautiful scenery. The 'one-night, two-meals' plan with two buffet meals was absolutely fantastic. My recommendations are usually spot-on. Plus, they offer free ramen for a late-night snack.

MMike IgOur stay at Ryokan Gizan was a truly memorable experience. This is a traditionally built and decorated Japanese ryokan, with tatami floors, sliding doors, and an authentic atmosphere that makes you feel fully immersed in Japanese culture. It’s definitely a “must-visit” if you’re looking to experience traditional Japanese accommodation — even a short stay of 2–3 nights is enough to make it special.
The ryokan is quite old, which actually adds to its authentic charm, though it might feel a bit less comfortable for more demanding guests. That said, it’s very well maintained and everything is clean and thoughtfully arranged.
The onsen facilities were excellent — one public bath and four private ones that you can use freely. After long days of exploring, it was a real treat.
We highly recommend booking with the traditional dinner included. The meals were a highlight: we had Yakiniku the first night and Shabu-shabu the second, both featuring fresh, generous portions of delicious food. Breakfast was a traditional Japanese set — beautifully presented and made with care, though not quite to our personal taste.
The location is stunning — surrounded by mountains, rivers, and blossoming trees. It feels peaceful and remote. Just note that amenities like ATMs or grocery stores are limited nearby. However, it’s well connected by bus (just a 3-minute walk from the ryokan), which can take you to Kamikochi or the terminals at Takayama and Hirayu Onsen. Buses run about once an hour, so it’s quite manageable.
Overall, a fantastic stay — relaxing, unique, and highly recommended for anyone looking to experience a more traditional and scenic side of Japan.

SsyamimiaziahThe room was quite small but all the amenities is good. there's onsen (which i didnt explore) but you can basically monitor everything from the tv, to check if the laundry is currently used or if the onsen is crowded. theres free drink and food upon arrival. and the front desk can speak english 😁 anddddd theres family mart in front of the hotelllllll. with parking some more and not that far from hida town.

EEivangThe hotel has a great ambiance, and the rooms come with private onsen, offering excellent value for money. The lady at the restaurant spoke Chinese, which made dining very enjoyable. The only downside was that the breakfast portion was a bit small, which seems to be a common issue with non-buffet hotels in Japan.

南南方澳配速員The hotel is in an excellent location with great amenities nearby. It's just a bridge away from Miyagawa Morning Market and very close to the old town of Takayama. During my two-day stay, all the other guests I encountered were European, and I was the only Asian person in the entire backpacker room, which was a very unique experience.
