"The hotel in general is a reasonably priced hot spring inn, with good customer service and spacious rooms, but a little old. There were many small children, and it was fully booked, even though it was not a weekend. We had the 1,300-year-old gourmet cuisine "Tenpyo no Utage," which claims to be the only one of its kind in Japan. The cuisine was created with the support of archaeologists and culinary experts over five years, based on wooden tablets, pottery, and documents excavated from Heijo Palace. Including the 20 years since then, it has a tradition of 35 years. Each dish was explained to us. It was very delicious, and almost all the dishes were Michelin one-star level. However, some dishes left a disappointing impression. The daigo, a cheese-like dish made by boiling down milk, was overcooked and was dry and hard. It was much browner than the sample. The wild boar meat was too hard and had lost too much moisture. The dried figs had lost too much moisture. The other dishes, as you would expect from imperial court cuisine, were just the right firmness and very delicious. I was put off by the fact that the only drink available was white sake (shiroki: cloudy sake), even though it was apparently all-you-can-drink. The tea (not sure what kind of tea it was) that came towards the end was not tasty either, but it was easier to drink than white sake, so I wish it had been brought out sooner. Imperial court cuisine, whether Okinawan, Korean, Chinese, or French, is indescribably delicious. I would definitely recommend trying ancient Japanese imperial court cuisine. You can enjoy the ancient imperial court cuisine alone, even without staying overnight. The Tenpyo Banquet is the pinnacle of this hotel!!!"

"This hotel is located in between the two train stations. It is on a busy road, but the sights are walkable. The room was large, and it was great to have a sitting area and space to relax. The furnishings are worn and dated. The onsen is a nice feature at the end of a long day. As were the free drinks in reception in the early evening. We enjoyed our stay."

The Deer Park Inn

"There are deer at the door and Mount Wakakusa next to it. It is very close to various attractions. Although the boss does not speak the language, he is very enthusiastic and gave me a map. There is a public restaurant, toilet, and shower. The room is clean. There are deer outside the window. It's just that it's a mountain road. I was exhausted from pulling the luggage. I searched for a long time and found it on a big staircase."

Environment: The room we stayed in had a sense of age But we booked the main building, but were arranged to stay in the other building. The main building and the other building are connected, and the breakfast is of the same standard, but in fact there is a price difference, and the facilities in the main building are newer. It is unknown whether the price difference was deliberately booked in the other building, or the agent made a mistake, or the hotel deliberately arranged it. People who choose to stay later need to pay attention to whether they are staying in the main building."

Wakasa Annex

"The hotel is a little far from the JR station and requires a bus, but it is within walking distance to Kintetsu Nara Station. The location is right next to Todaiji Temple, and it is very convenient to Nara Park and other attractions. The hotel staff had a first-class service attitude, were very attentive, spoke fluent English, and patiently explained the hotel facilities and services. There are also small gifts for guests who come to stay here. I won’t spoil the contents of the gifts for now, but they are really heartwarming. In terms of room facilities, the open-air bath is very comfortable. Taking a bath in the zero-degree weather outside is a great pleasure in life. The room was clean and spacious. The 1.5-meter mattress was very comfortable. I slept very well and cleared away the tiredness of the journey. In terms of food, both dinner and breakfast are Japanese cuisine, which is very exquisite, with fresh ingredients and a good dining experience.  The experience of this stay was very good and I highly recommend it."
