"First Bungalow beach resort has a fantastic location on the quiet side of Chaweng Beach. Rooms are tired and need updating. Walk in showers would be a plus - anyone with mobility issues would struggle to get into the tub/shower. Cleaning is adequate. A plentiful breakfast is included but is mostly the same offering every day. Coffee is barely drinkable. Pool area and beach area is fantastic! Staff work hard to help where they can. Definitely a budget hotel but within walking distance of many fantastic restaurants."

"My husband and I stayed for 10 days, and our vacation was excellent! The rooms are spacious, and the bed is huge :) The breakfast is standard, buffet style. The sea is gorgeous. White sand, clear warm water. Peace and quiet… The low tide didn't really bother our swimming. You just had to walk 20-30 steps further, which I don't think is a problem at all. If you know the Gulf of Finland in St. Petersburg, don't worry, it's nothing like that :) The room was cleaned daily. Please note that to get new towels and fresh linens, you need to place a card (save the planet) on the bed. This is done to avoid washing linens and towels unnecessarily. Beach towels were changed daily. At the reception, there's a separate desk for a tour agency offering their services. We booked two tours through them, and everything was fine. The prices were reasonable. The hotel itself is a bit away from the party scene, which was a plus for us. Peace and quiet :) Regarding the number of people – it was busy. We were there at the beginning of June. We looked at other hotels along the coast, and they were only 30-40% occupied. At this hotel, all the sun loungers were always taken. We'd walk about 50 meters to the right or left to swim because there were so many people in the hotel's beach area. But I'll say right away, it's not Anapa or Sochi; there isn't an overwhelming number of people. I just compared it to the neighboring beaches :) The staff are super, always smiling and very friendly. They speak English fluently."

"Great location by the beach with fantastic view of the sunset. The room and areas around the property are clean. Staff are friendly and the food in the restaurant is good with reasonable prices in the area. I had the breakfast package, the breakfast buffet is simple and adequate but would benefit from more choices. The downside is the room itself which is compact and basic, the mattress is a bit firm for me but you may like that. The bathroom has some design flaws but you can work around that like when showering, remove the toilet paper from the holder so it doesn’t get wet as the shower head points directly at it. All in all, a nice stay away from the noise of the popular areas. The picture is the view from the poolside."

"We stayed 9 nights in this excellent picture perfect beachfront paradise!! Our bright and airy cottage was right next to the sparkling clean pool and overlooking the beach. Our room was was spotlessly clean, with a huge comfy bed with new clean sheets, a large bathroom with good hot water. Lovely to sit out on our deck overlooking the pool and ocean. Breakfast was served overlooking the beach and was awesome!! The buffet, included Thai food such as sweet and sour pork, chicken and cashews, noodles, fried rice- they changed everyday. Everyday there was also an egg station, bacon, sausages, salad, fresh fruit , croissants, juices and a coffee machine. The restaurant is open all day and the staff set up tables on the beach for dinner - delicious food. All the staff are friendly and welcoming!! Perfect quiet location on Lamai beach - walk 2 or 3 minutes along the sand to the walking bridge and you are at the Night Market and busy Lamai town. There is also a 7 11 right next door. Tesco down the road and a Makro another few kms further. Highly recommend… we are staying again next year"

"A very good hotel. Beautiful garden, cozy little houses. But most importantly, the staff is super, very friendly. I want to give special thanks to the hotel manager. She is a wonderful person, she helped us a lot 🙏 There was a theft on our way there and she really helped us out of such a difficult situation. We want to thank you again. The hotel also offers delicious and varied breakfasts with a beautiful view, good Wi-Fi, and a very convenient location."

"Rated location a 5/5, not because it is just a doorstep away from popular night markets, or just beside a beach, or the steep slope up to the villa, but because of the amazing view point it provides and the quiet sanctuary we are looking for in a retreat! The resort does offer free shuttles to areas in coral cove and (our favourite) crystal bay, which is great. Service (receptionist through WhatsApp, and drivers, cleaning) was very prompt and fuss free. Room was spacious and comfortable, facilities (eg bathroom, jacuzzi) were clean. Will definitely visit again! Thanks for making our retreat an enjoyable one."

"The place was a paradise for us. The food, the service, the people, the beach, the sea - all you can think about is amazing! There are a few things need to improve in cottage 23: the air conditioner blows very strongly on the bed, the pillows are uncomfortable and the mattress is sagging on one side. But these are just small things."

"Honestly, I don't understand the negative reviews. It's a beautiful, traditional Thai-style resort. We stayed in a pool villa, and the included breakfast was pretty decent. It's also ideally situated right on Lipa Noi beach. The surroundings are gorgeous, lush and verdant. We even saw fireflies in our patio! And the staff were incredibly friendly. The bathroom is huge, and daily room cleaning is available upon request."

"Small, I would even say, cramped bungalows for two guests. However, everything you need for a short trip to Koh Samui is there - air conditioning, clean linen, a dryer for swimsuits, a small balcony, hot water in the shower (only the pressure was rather weak). We were here for 3 nights, and that’s enough, but if you’re not going for a week or longer, I’d recommend something more spacious. The location is excellent for a relaxing romantic getaway. Beautiful beach and sunsets. It takes 10-15 minutes by bike to get to shops or the night market."

"Large resort area in tropical setting with smaller apartment buildings and houses which makes it very quiet and peaceful, morning sun wakes you up early with lots of birds singing. Breakfast restaurant is great with good selection, pool bar is a little too expensive, but happy hour between 15-17. Fitness is ok but with basic machines needing a little update. Small walk through the garden down to the private beach and restaurant, entire beach only has 4-5 other very quiet hotels. Main hotel entrance from main road, only option as all other hotels also have private roads from and to the beach, which is normal in Samui but also annoying. Once you walk to the main road it has several good restaurants, 7-11 and ATMs. Walk to downtown is possible but takes 30-40 minutes, not really made for pedestrians. We stayed 8 nights and would return due to peaceful setting and beach."
