I had an amazing visit to the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding and highly recommend it to anyone coming to Chengdu. I booked my own ticket online and added the keychain option, then took a Didi to and from the base which made the trip incredibly convenient. I also rented the audio guide at the information center for 30 yuan, which added useful context as I explored the different panda habitats. It’s important to arrive early ideally between 7:30am and 10am because pandas follow natural resting cycles and become far less active as the day heats up. Arriving during the morning feeding time lets you see them eating, climbing, and playing before they nap for most of the afternoon. The areas with the highest number of pandas are the Sunshine (Sun) and Moonlight (Moon) Enclosures, as well as the popular Panda Nursery where younger pandas are often visible. Overall it was an unforgettable experience and absolutely worth the early start.

I enjoy hiking, and Qingcheng Mountain is definitely worth a visit. We took the cable car up and walked down, which took about 5 hours – a leisurely hike. If you're not very active or don't walk often, I recommend taking the cable car up and down! The downhill path is narrow and steep, and my daughter and sister were exhausted from walking it! 😁

Incredible historical site. The hike is not for the weak (it's very steep and takes around 4-5 hours), although there's a cable car to shorten the hike if you want but make sure it's not closed. There are beautifully preserved temples scattered throughout the mountain. Bring plenty of snacks, water & dress appropriately. They sell food and water on the mountain.

I originally checked online and found that taking bus 101 from Dujiangyan Lidui Park Station to Qingchenshan would involve more than 20 stops, costing only 2 yuan but taking more than an hour. Later, I used Gaode Maps to find that at the bus service area near the South Bridge in Dujiangyan, I could take the scenic area shuttle bus "Route 6" for 10 yuan, which only stopped 4 times and went directly to the middle parking lot/service area of the front of Qingcheng Mountain. From there, I could walk to the ticket gate, which would take more than 20 minutes, but it was a bit uphill and tiring. I regretted not taking the scenic area electric car at the middle parking lot, which would have been much easier for 10 yuan. On the way back, if I walked back to the middle parking lot from the scenic area and then took the "Route 6" scenic area shuttle bus, it would only cost 5 yuan. This would have been cheaper than taking the Qingcheng Mountain electric car for the whole trip, which would have cost 20 yuan one way and 35 yuan round trip.

Arriving by train from Xipu Station to Qingcheng Station, you can walk up to the entrance of the complex or take a sightseeing bus for 35 yuan per person. If you're up for the walk, the climb is worth it, but if you skip the cable car, you might be very tired on the way back. Once you've ascended by cable car, the climb to the temple is long and entirely made up of steps. Overall, it's a peaceful place, immersed in nature. The view from the top of the temple is beautiful, but not breathtaking. It was very crowded.
