"An unexpectedly warm stay, highly recommend to anyone visiting Toronto! Choosing ”Maplewood Abode” in downtown Toronto was an excellent decision. The location is superb, within walking distance to the subway and major shopping areas, making it incredibly convenient for getting around and sightseeing. What touched me most was the host. Communication was seamless throughout my stay, truly a case of ”no question left unanswered.” Whether it was advice on transit, restaurant recommendations, or tips on avoiding tourist traps, the host patiently offered tons of practical suggestions. Many were hidden gems only locals would know, saving me a lot of unnecessary detours. The room was decorated very warmly, the bedding was clean and soft, and the surroundings were quiet. I was able to get a sound night's sleep every day, and all my travel fatigue just melted away. Even more delightful, the host enthusiastically shared some homemade food with me! I tried a chicken bun and a pork and radish bun – the wrappers were thin, the filling generous, and the taste was wonderfully authentic home-style cooking. Each bite was full of human kindness. Overall, the experience far exceeded my expectations. It offered both the cleanliness and convenience of a hotel, along with the warmth of visiting a friend's home. I will definitely choose Maplewood Abode again on my next trip to Toronto, and I genuinely recommend it to anyone traveling for leisure or business in this city!"

Booked Deluxe King Room with breakfast included. Room was spacious and breakfast was great. Yet the standard of housekeeping was far from satisfactory. First, hairs were found at the wrap for the wire of the hair dryer the moment I checked in, and small scrap of paper was also found on the inside of a towel. Without any notice/sign in the room about the hotel's green housekeeping policy (if any), towels heavily loaded on the hook and hangers in the bathroom were not collected even on day 3 of my stay (there was no bath tub in the room to place used towels). Packs of cotton pads, cotton buds and small soaps were not refilled even when totally used up. Interesting enough, when enquired with front desk if that was the hotel's policy not to so collect the towels and make the refill unless express requests were made, the answer was in the negative. The charging of tips for breakfast is another interesting issue. My husband stayed at the hotel for 2 nights (with breakfast included) before my arrival. When he checked out, he was asked to pay for tips for 1 breakfast. After clarifying if tips should be paid for 2 breakfasts instead, front desk apologized for having wrongly charged for any tips as all charges should have already been included when making the hotel booking. Yet on our checking out after 5 nights' stay with the hotel, we were told that we had to pay for tips for 2 days' breakfast. We again enquired about the hotel policy and explained that we were willing to pay but wondered why tips weren't charged for all 5 days for our stay. No explanation was given and the staff (probably thought that we did not want to pay) just advised that the charges would be waived. I have stayed at Park Hyatt Bangkok and the service was excellent. Was thus surprised to had those experience at Park Hyatt Toronto.

I was initially apprehensive about staying in an ”old” hotel, but my worries came to rest. It was similar to a cottage theme with very clean rooms and adequate amentities. Staff were always very friendly, greeting us everytime we leave and return to the hotel, and responds promptly to our housekeeping requests. 10 minutes from the hotel, there is a park with a calming stream, a great place to rest and rewind from the busy city life. Nearest train station is just 5 minutes walk away, and a 30-45 minutes car ride to downtown. Some downsides though, there are no nearby restaurants besides the one in the hotel, and no nearby supermarkets. Utensils were not provided in the room so be prepared to bring your own set. Hotel lifts seem a bit worn out but had not broken down during my stay. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay given the calm surrounding vibes and amazing service. I would consider returning in the future

Great: 1. Unbeatable location. That stretch of Bloor St W has restaurants, coffee shops, used bookstores (my favorite!), and more. Subway station, streetcars, and a Bike Share Toronto hub just around the corner. Christie Pits park nearby. Incredibly walkable. 2. Clean room and useful amenities. Love that slippers were available from the amenities closet. (Slippers seem to be common in hotels in Asia, so I was delighted to find them here.) 2. Responsive customer service. My room had a small issue (intermittent loud buzzing sound of mysterious origin in the night). When I raised this with the Nomas WhatsApp number, Umesh was responsive and offered to move me into a different room. Thankfully the sound eventually vanished after a couple nights! I have no opinion on: 1. Bellis. I didn't eat at the Bellis bar (mainly because I wanted to check out the other offerings nearby). 2. Lockers. I didn't try the lockers, but they looked useful. I saw someone describe this hotel along the lines of ”it's a bar with hallways and rooms.” Isn't that what all hotels are, ultimately? Could be better: 1. My room was near the washrooms for the bar. At night, shrieky bar customers would congregate near the washrooms to chat. Had to get up to shut the soundproofing hallway door a couple of times. Not too big of a deal because the soundproofing is effective. I'd definitely stay here again!

The hotel's hardware facilities are fine, but the front desk service... I hope they hire more staff with a better service mindset. I owed just over 67 yuan for the hotel fee and gave 70, so I should have gotten more than two yuan back. I was really tired and just wanted to go back to my room to rest since it was late at night. Then this classic conversation ensued: Her: ”There's just over one yuan left, do you want your change?” Me: ”Yes, please.” (I just wanted to go rest quickly) Her: ”Do you want the cash now?” Me: ”OK.” Her: ”Can I give it to you when you check out?” Me: ”OK.” (I really just wanted to end the conversation) Her: ”Can I just not give it to you? It's only a bit over one yuan.” Me: ”OK.” (So tired, and hadn't even eaten yet) Her: ”OK”

There was a constant noise coming from the toilet that prevented us from getting any rest. Even though a technician came, he couldn't fix it. However, everything else was fine. We had a good stay!

I stayed at this hotel on business, and the overall experience was outstanding. The staff is extremely professional and polite – I especially appreciate that they went out of their way to allow us an early check-in, which really helped with organizing our day. The hotel lobby is beautifully designed, and the cleanliness and tidiness of the entire property are at a very high level. After a busy workday, the exceptionally comfortable bed and great pillows ensured a perfect night's sleep. The location is an absolute plus. The hotel is very close to the city center, and with the main railway station right in front of it, it is incredibly accessible and convenient. All in all, I really enjoyed my stay and would highly recommend this hotel!

We had a great stay at Holiday Inn Downtown Toronto! The hotel is conveniently located near the heart of downtown, making it easy to explore nearby restaurants, shops, and attractions. The room was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, and the staff were friendly and accommodating throughout my stay. The only small downside was the hotel parking, which was a little pricey at $40 per day. However, there are plenty of cheaper parking options nearby, so it wasn’t a major issue. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and I would definitely stay here again!

Crowne Plaza TORONTO AIRPORT by IHG

The hotel offers an airport shuttle service every 30 minutes, though it's less frequent compared to nearby hotels like Holiday Inn. Check-in is only available after 3 PM, and the rooms are quite small, so you'll have to wait if you arrive early. The breakfast restaurant is an independently run operation, not managed by the hotel, and costs $30 per person, which isn't great value for money. Despite being 7 km from the airport, the hotel is directly under a flight path, so the noise from planes taking off and landing is very loud. Light sleepers should definitely take this into consideration. Dining options around the hotel are limited (mostly pizza), but there's an excellent Japanese restaurant just across the bridge, about a 12-minute walk away, or one stop on the 300 bus.

The hotel is a bit old, but it's well-maintained and the environment is very good. What was unexpected was the extremely unfriendly attitude of the front desk staff. At first, I thought they were unfriendly because my booking was from Trip.com (meaning I couldn't earn IHG member points), but after staying, I realized the front desk simply had poor service awareness. I came to Toronto for a game on the 20th. I arrived at the front desk at 2 PM, but the room wasn't ready, so I stored my luggage and checked in at 11 PM. The next day, I left at 10 AM and returned at 11 PM to find the room still hadn't been cleaned. I called the front desk to complain, and an Indian man gave a perfunctory response and then hung up on me, which infuriated me... I called the front desk again, and an Asian woman answered. She was still perfunctory but eventually agreed to send towels and drinking water to the room. Traveling all this way and paying a high price for such an experience has really soured my impression of Toronto as a city. IHG, goodbye.
