Five Stars – Exceptional Stay and an Authentic Dim Sum Adventure!

I recently completed a wonderful 3-day, 2-night stay at The Landmark Canton Hotel in Guangzhou, and it exceeded all expectations. From the moment I arrived, the hospitality was flawless. Check-in was swift, professional, and welcoming, setting a fantastic tone for the entire trip.

The room was immaculate, remarkably spacious, and tastefully furnished with beautiful views of the Pearl River. The bed provided an exceptionally restful night's sleep, and the room amenities—from the high-quality toiletries to the strong Wi-Fi—were top-notch. The hotel's location is also unbeatable, offering convenient access to local attractions and transport links, making it the perfect base for exploring the city.

The absolute highlight of the trip was dining at the hotel's famous dim sum restaurant. Note that this spot is incredibly popular, so you do need to queue up for a table and pay for the meal yourself. However, the wait and the out-of-pocket cost are 100% worth it! It is a true culinary masterpiece. The har gow (shrimp dumplings) featured perfectly translucent, delicate skins with plump, crisp shrimp inside. The siu mai was incredibly flavorful and juicy, and the baked barbecue pork buns had the ultimate golden, flaky crust with a rich, savory-sweet filling. It is an elevated, authentic tea house experience that you cannot miss.

I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Guangzhou and will definitely return!

The location is excellent, and the front desk staff were quite welcoming. My flight was delayed, so I didn't arrive until after midnight, but they kindly extended my check-out time, which I really appreciated. The room size was decent, and there were many foreign guests staying. However, the hotel facilities are a bit old. I was taking a shower when three or four staff members knocked on my door asking if I had been smoking and triggered the smoke alarm. It was truly speechless. I hope they improve the facilities and service quality.

This was my second stay at this long-standing five-star hotel, and once again, the service and room facilities were excellent. The Chinese restaurant's food was also very much to my liking, and the breakfast offered a wide variety of Chinese and Western dishes, with good quality coffee. My granddaughter especially loved the rooftop pool. They even gave us mooncakes as a gift.

The White Swan Hotel truly lives up to its reputation as a venerable luxury hotel in Guangzhou. The rooms are spacious with elegant layouts and spotlessly clean – a clear testament to the diligent work of the housekeeping staff. The view from the window offers a stunning panorama of the Xiguan scenery. The bedding is soft and comfortable, and the bathroom features high-quality Natura Bissé toiletries. A special shout-out (👍) for the excellent turndown service! Every detail was thoughtfully considered, including a delightful small gift box with delicious shortbread cookies, infused with a unique Lingnan charm, creating a sweet and inviting atmosphere for sleep. The service was truly attentive and impeccable. ❤️👍☺️

We had a wonderful stay at Hampton by Hilton! Everything was excellent—from the clean and comfortable rooms to the friendly and professional service.
A special thank you to the housekeeping team. They were always kind, patient, and never refused any of our requests, even when we had a few special ones. Their care and attention made our stay even more comfortable.
Thank you to the entire staff for your warm hospitality. We highly recommend this hotel and would be happy to stay here again!

Let's get straight to the point: if you're planning to visit Shamian Island and explore the old town, and your budget is similar to that of a mid-range chain hotel like a 'certain season' or 'Vienna' (roughly 3-star, with similar prices for the same period), then I highly recommend this old 4-star hotel.

**Location:** It's located on the north side of Shamian Island, next to the overpass, about 500 meters from the subway. The Line 1 station is just a short walk over the overpass, making it very convenient to get to Chen Clan Ancestral Hall. Walking to Shangxiajiu and Yongqingfang is about 1.5 kilometers, or three 500-meter blocks, which isn't a tiring walk at all.

**Service:** The hotel is managed by the same team behind the White Swan Hotel, China's first five-star hotel, also on Shamian Island. The service is excellent; cleaning staff always greet you warmly and wish you a good stay. Both the rooms and public areas are meticulously clean. The hotel's toiletries, slippers, and bottled water all bear the White Swan logo (you could say it's a 'White Swan youth edition,' considering a similar river-view room would only be about a third of the price).

**Amenities:** The hot water kettle is made of 316 stainless steel, and all the bathroom fixtures are American Standard. The hotel has a Western restaurant and a Chinese restaurant. (The dim sum here is listed among Guangzhou's top forty traditional dim sum establishments. Guests apparently receive a 12% discount, which we only found out at checkout. The hotel didn't advertise it beforehand, but when we mentioned we were staying there, they re-calculated our bill with the discount.) Shamian Island is quite small; walking to the southernmost tip is only two blocks away. If you get a better room on the 7th or 8th floor, you can see the entire Shamian Island and the White Swan Art Center opposite, which offers fantastic views. The hotel offers a choice of 6 different pillows, and both conditioner and body lotion are provided. Keeping the windows closed largely prevents mosquitoes. The showerhead isn't large, but the water pressure is good.

The location is great, with many restaurants nearby, making dining very convenient. The hotel service is also very thoughtful; when someone in our group suddenly needed to use the restroom in the lobby, the staff immediately helped them find one. The room was clean and comfortable, and they thoughtfully provided extra drinking water. Overall, it was a very good stay!

Our flight was a bit delayed, so we didn't arrive at the hotel until after 7 PM. We had booked a room in the Bihai Building, but check-in was already closed. Seeing us with two suitcases, Mr. Shi, the manager on duty, offered to store our luggage at the Bihai Building and then personally drove us in the shuttle to the Baiyun Building for check-in. The handsome guy at reception brought me another stroke of luck by upgrading me to a suite – what an amazing vacation, meeting so many lovely young people! I'm so fortunate!

The Bihai Building has incredibly new decor. What I care about most is the bathroom, where all the silicone sealant on the tiles was pristine white, with no yellowing or mold whatsoever, which was a very pleasant sight. Then I ran my hand everywhere – no dust, and the bathtub was free of any grime, which is impressive. Full marks for cleanliness.

Breakfast was included and served as a buffet at the Jinshan Restaurant on the second floor of the Baiyun Building. Some online reviews said it wasn't good, but we stayed for three days and ate there twice, and my actual experience was that it was excellent. They even have freshly made 'cheung fun' (rice noodle rolls) in three flavors – beef, egg, and pork – served with their own sweet soy sauce. It was incredibly delicious! The girl making the cheung fun was very sweet, always smiling, and happy to fulfill any requests. There were also nutty Sachima (a sweet pastry) and four flavors of ice cream. Paired with a coffee, it was very satisfying. On the third day, we went to the Hongmian Restaurant on the first floor; it was filled with locals, and every dish was made fresh to order at reasonable prices.

Furthermore, Ms. Huang, who cleaned our room, was incredibly thorough. She even left a special note if she noticed something needed attention, which made us feel incredibly warm and fostered respect for every single staff member throughout the hotel! This is undoubtedly a hidden gem of a hotel that I will definitely visit again!

The location is very convenient, close to the subway and many eateries, so it wasn't a struggle to get here with my luggage. The room isn't huge, but the layout is well-designed, and the lighting creates a nice ambiance. The bedding felt brand new, and the pillowcases were spotless. I ordered takeout at 1 AM, and the night staff at the front desk even helped chill my drinks, which was excellent service. The curtains block out light really well, so I wasn't woken up by the sun in the morning. After check-out, I left my luggage at the front desk, and it was very convenient to pick it up after I finished exploring. The photos are real and not retouched. I will definitely book this place again next time I'm in the area.

Absolutely a delightful surprise! First off, the hotel facilities fully meet 4-star standards, and the rooms are quite new. Secondly, from the high floors, you can see the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, offering an unbeatable, breathtaking view. Within a one-kilometer walk or bike ride, there are many famous eateries nearby, and it's not far from Beijing Road Pedestrian Street.

The room is spacious, elegant, and comfortable, with a quiet atmosphere. The bed is incredibly soft and comfortable, and the bedding is of good quality. The bathroom is clean with a separate shower and toilet. The room comes with a TV, sofa, and a desk. The lighting is excellent. The river view is beautiful both day and night. Breakfast on the second floor has limited options but tastes good, with both Chinese and Western choices available. Be sure to try the marinated noodles and Sanjidi soup. Lunch is also served on the second floor with an à la carte menu. The lobby is large with plenty of seating, and parking is convenient. This hotel is very well-located, just a 10-minute walk across the river from the pedestrian street.

The hotel is located in Songkou Ancient Town, making it convenient for exploring the surrounding area. The location is excellent. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 The hotel's exterior is beautiful, and even more picturesque on rainy days. 😍😍
The hotel is a renovated historic building, and some of the design elements (such as the windows) retain their nostalgic character. 🏠🏠 The rooms are bright, clean, and very comfortable.
The front desk staff was friendly and helpful, sharing detailed information about nearby attractions. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 It was pouring rain when we checked out, but the front desk staff not only reminded us to drive to the hotel's location, but also held an umbrella for us and helped us load our luggage into the car. Very thoughtful. 🥰🥰🥰

The location is fantastic, right at the entrance of Paifang Street near the South Gate of the ancient city, making it super convenient for daily strolls. The service exceeded our expectations; there was a butler available online at all times who was incredibly quick to resolve any issues or requests. They even came across the road to pick us up, and when we checked out and wanted to sightsee first, the butler kindly delivered our luggage to the driver. We also received some unique local souvenirs, which my child absolutely loved.

The family room was spacious, with two large beds that were incredibly comfortable. The bathroom was clean and easy to use, and the room came with plenty of complimentary snacks, fruits, and drinks. The rooftop offers panoramic views of the ancient city, perfect for photos!

Breakfast was just okay; we skipped it on the second day and went to explore the ancient city for food instead.

The hotel isn't in the bustling city center, which makes it pretty quiet. It's about 8 kilometers to Guangji Bridge and Paifang Street. The decor is quite modern and looks clean and tidy. Parking is also very convenient. For over 1000 RMB on Chinese New Year's Day, it was a pretty good value-for-money option during the Spring Festival. Even though there were a lot of guests recently, including tour groups, the front desk and restaurant staff handled everything seamlessly. On the contrary, their attitude was friendly and well-organized, and the restaurant cleared tables and dishes incredibly quickly. Highly recommend! The young lady at the front desk, whose surname I think was Huang (I peeked at her name tag), was very pretty and had a lovely smile. She explained everything in great detail, no matter how small. So, when it comes to service, it really depends on the individual staff, not just the hotel's star rating.
