The room is quite big, but the king-size bed and sofa are not suitable for family travel, so you still need to book a twin room. The bathroom is very small, unlike a five-star hotel, and the facilities are just ordinary, without toothbrushes and toothpaste. It is surrounded by Fifth Avenue and various commercial streets. There are many restaurants around, and there are many people. Good restaurants need to be booked.

Located in Lower Manhattan, the building is very old, so the bathroom has a smell of sewer, and there is the sound of garbage trucks operating downstairs at night and in the morning, which affects rest! The worst thing is that the light is very dim, and the room needs to turn on the lights during the day! There is a restaurant bar on the first floor downstairs, which is very lively. There will be noise on the lower floors. Overall, it feels like a pitfall and will not stay again

We had a good experience at Gild Hall. Only stayed for one night, but it had everything we needed. Big bed, clean bathroom, okay view. The location was great for us, as we were able to walk to everywhere, and the subway was only a couple blocks away which was extra convenient as well. However, there were lines for checking in and out (only one person was working the front desk) so that was a little annoying. We also couldn't check in until 4pm (pretty late compared to other hotels), with no options of a late checkout (had to leave by noon).

This Hyatt hotel🏨, which opened last year, boasts a great location near the China Pavilion, offering views of the Huangpu River across the street. Below it is the Expo Park shopping mall🏬. The hotel facilities are very new, and the decor is stylish and grand, making it perfect for couples.

We booked a Stylish River View King Room, which overlooks the Mercedes-Benz Arena and the Huangpu River, with the China Pavilion visible to the right. The view is excellent. The room is spacious enough, and the facilities are well-appointed. The glass structure, in particular, is fantastic and ideal for taking photos📷. The staff at the lobby check-in were very attentive and thorough. Overall, it was a very comfortable stay.

The only issue was at the bar on the 20th floor. My room type included two cocktails🍹 and some snacks. When I went there, I asked if they could deliver them to my room, but was told they couldn't, though I could take them back myself. So I grabbed the drinks🍷 and started to leave. Just as I reached the door, a male waiter stopped me and said the glasses couldn't be taken out, offering to switch them to disposable cups instead. I was puzzled – are they short on glass cups at the bar, or what? I ended up just leaving the drinks. I hope they can coordinate their service better in the future, as this kind of experience is very off-putting for guests. We initially had a great impression of the hotel.

Breakfast is served at the Fish House on the 19th floor. While the breakfast selection isn't extensive, the egg dishes are all good. The coffee☕ is excellent, and the beans🫘 are very aromatic and smooth (the richness and smoothness of the mocha, and the authentic taste of the Americano).

Great Service, Lovely Breakfast — but Room Noise and In-Room Dining Could Improve

I recently stayed at the Thompson Houston and overall had a great experience, especially thanks to the excellent service. Every staff member I interacted with was friendly, helpful, and professional. Their attention to detail really made me feel welcomed, and I was touched when they surprised me with a graduation cake — a thoughtful gesture I truly appreciated.

The hotel breakfast was a highlight. The food was fresh and well-prepared, and once again, the service stood out. Dining in the morning felt like a treat thanks to the welcoming atmosphere.

That said, there were a few downsides that affected my stay. The room was quite noisy, even late into the night. It was hard to relax or fall asleep with the amount of outside noise coming through.

Also, I ordered in-room dining on two occasions. On the first day, everything was great. However, the next day the fries were noticeably soggier, the salad was just a bowl of greens with six tiny avocado cubes, and — most concerning — the aioli on the side looked like it had already been used.

Overall, Thompson Houston left a positive impression on me, mostly due to its exceptional staff and quality breakfast. I hope they can improve the soundproofing and ensure consistency in their in-room dining service.
