Amazing
AAnonymous UserThe location is excellent, just a few minutes' walk across from the station. The service was superb. The foreign front desk staff member was very enthusiastic and helpful. Besides basic check-in, he also assisted us in finding the shops we needed. Upon check-in, there were clear instructions available in various languages. Breakfast was a semi-buffet à la carte style, with three time slots to choose from. The room was clean, tidy, and spacious, exactly as pictured. Even the drinks in the mini-bar were delicious; we enjoyed buying Hida beef and cooking it ourselves. ‼️ The only drawback: there was an issue with the range hood/ventilation system in the room. Around 11 PM, a strong cooking oil smell suddenly filled the room, possibly from another guest frying meat, and it quickly spread throughout our room via the air conditioning or some other system. It was late, and we were almost asleep, so we didn't report it to the hotel directly. Secondly, if you cook meat yourself, the ventilation isn't very effective (it seems there's no range hood or it's just poor), as the room ends up smelling quite a bit. Friends planning to cook should be aware of this. Other than that, I highly recommend it.

GGuest UserVery great location few minutes walk from Takayama bus station. The hotel provide free public spa and the breakfast is very good with different option. For room at the 8th floor, there is a lounge with free drinks and snacks available. Most of the staff is nice but when we encountered an issue during the breakfast where we forgot provide the ticket that we change the breakfast option, the staff was pulling a face at us for the whole meal afterwards. The system itself already complex enough where you need to both inform the counter and provide the ticket at the dining hall but I don’t think it’s appropriate to pull a face at the customer especially for someone working in a service field.

FFenyuanqiqiI highly recommend this onsen hotel! The environment, service, and food are all excellent. They have two outdoor private onsens and two indoor private onsens, all free of charge. The public outdoor onsen is also very large, and some rooms even come with their own onsen baths. After your bath, you can enjoy complimentary milk and cold drinks, and in the morning, Yakult. There's a sake happy hour in the evening, and free ramen for a late-night snack! I've stayed at over 20 onsen hotels, and this is the first time I've seen such generosity, haha. The hotel pays great attention to every detail, which is fantastic. For dinner, we chose the Hida beef kaiseki meal, which was also quite good. They offer a free shuttle service. I'll definitely stay here again next time I visit!

CChoco CarameliciousI chose this hotel because of its location and how nice the room looked, which turned out to exceed my expectations. I had an exceptional experience staying here. It’s less than a 5-minute walk from Takayama Station. We arrived quite early—several hours before check-in—but were able to store our luggage. The check-in process itself was smooth. The room we reserved felt more like an apartment-style hotel room. It was very spacious, with plenty of room to move around. I liked how the furniture was arranged; everything was well-maintained, clean, and tidy. The beds were large, and I especially appreciated that they provided four pillows each—I slept very comfortably. I also loved the balcony. My friend and I spent hours there, watching cars and trains come and go, as well as people walking by. The facilities and amenities were exactly as advertised in the Services & Amenities section. Out of my recent two-week trip, this accommodation was the place I enjoyed the most.

☁️yun12345This was my second stay at the Washington Hotel in Takayama, and I'll start with the pros. It's incredibly convenient, located directly across from Takayama Station and the Nohi Bus Center. From the platform, it's less than a 50-meter walk to the hotel lobby, which is super handy. For travelers catching early buses to Shirakawa-go, Kamikochi, or Furukawa (especially recommended during cherry blossom season), this location is a huge advantage. All the nearby attractions are within walking distance, and the drugstore, restaurants, and specialty shops next to the hotel are among the last to close in Takayama. This is a big deal because many restaurants and shops in Takayama are quite particular, operating only four or five hours (or even just two or three) a day and often closing three or four days a week. Some restaurants even stop taking customers by 6 or 7 PM. We joked that at night, Takayama is full of 'hungry ghosts' wandering around! The hotel's toothbrushes are still the 'old style' and are much better than those in many other hotels. The triple room layout was well-designed and felt spacious when organized properly. The shower had good pressure and was very comfortable. What needs improvement is the shower curtain – it's too thin, so the strong shower spray easily splashes outside the tub. The breakfast is only a Japanese set meal. I tried it one day, and the taste was just so-so. I skipped it the second day, and it was still the same on the third, so I decided not to eat it again. The breakfast options are too limited; it looks good but doesn't taste great. Other hotel services were still good. The triple room had two trash cans, which shows thoughtful attention to detail. The overall bathroom facilities felt a bit old, and the extractor fan wasn't very powerful... Oh, and the hotel offers a hot spring ♨️ with pretty long opening hours, but I didn't get to try it, so I can't comment. All in all, for this price, being able to stay in such an extremely convenient, central location near the station (and commercial center) is definitely worth it. On a side note, I'm not sure if it's due to an economic downturn or the off-season, but Shirakawa-go and Takayama were noticeably less fun, less interesting to explore, and had fewer good shopping and dining options than my previous two visits. 'Travel early!' is truly not an empty phrase.

BBenpaozaiyunduandedifangWe chose Hirayu Onsen as a stopover, since we were visiting Shinhotaka one day and Kamikochi the next. Hirayukan is conveniently located just a three to five-minute walk from the Hirayu bus terminal. The room wasn't huge, but the hot spring baths were truly wonderful, with both indoor and outdoor options. The dinner and breakfast included in the stay were quite substantial. We also happened to catch a performance in the evening, which was a nice bonus.

GGuest UserThis was such a lovely place to stay. The room was nice and spacious, allowing us to feel at home. Not only were we taken care of by means of beautiful breakfast and dinner, but the staff were extremely helpful when we talked to them about hiking in Kamokochi. I would highly recommend booking this place especially with a meal plan, since it was nice to have food sorted after Hiking all day.
