"A retro 9-room hotel that felt like home. Yummy western-jap breakfast & dinner. They have fixed timings for breakfast & dinner as they need to serve all guests at the same time. You may book the onsen for a one-time private couple use but we felt that the onsen is not as good as those we went in other parts of Japan. We wasn't sure what was the temperature of the water... maybe it wasn't hot enough. Location wise - great! Just cross the road to Chuzenji Lake. Just 10 minutes walk down to Kegon Falls so that you don't have to pay for parking next to the falls. Overall, worth the stay."

"This was an incredible experience. An old fashioned Japanese inn at a beautiful lake. You get a room with six tatamis, futons, yukatas, some tea to greet you and a beautiful view of the lake. We also had a dinner, which had lots of variety, including locally sourced fish. The owner is a nice old lady, who did not speak English, but we could converse using Google Translate with no issue."

"We had such a lovely time! The place is really well organised, clean and quiet, and the hosts are very welcoming. The hotel is a bit further up the road compared to the city centre but there are regular buses that get there from the station. The private baths are great, and we loved the morning breakfast on the tatami with a large choice of small pastries to choose from. We would definitely come back!"

"The breakfast was delicious and the accommodation was clean and nice. I left my bag there in advance, but when I checked in, they brought it to my room. I went there because the Google reviews were good, and I'm satisfied."

"The hosts were friendly. They let us leave our suitcase until check-in, and they even carried it to our room themselves. Breakfast is at 8:00 AM, dinner at 6:00 PM. Dinner was so filling, we barely made it 😅 We were there during peak season, late October, and to get to the lake, you have to take a bus from the train station. So, you have to go to the train station first, then take the right bus. There's a bus stop (number 14) right outside the hotel, but the bus passes by because it's full. We had a room with a private onsen, which was amazing."

"Been visiting family in Tokyo for 6 weeks and finished our holiday with 2 night stay in Nikko. What a wonderful place to end our time in Japan. Hotel beautiful, service impeccable, food delicious and two perfect old fashion and sidewinder cocktails mixed in the cosy bar. Look forward to hopefully returning next year ."
