"Overall, it was quite good. The room was exquisite, and there were several public individual hot spring baths available. As long as one was empty, you could just hop in and enjoy a solo soak, which was very comfortable. My sleep quality improved a lot after soaking. Drinks and late-night snacks were free, and it was quite relaxing to eat and drink something after the bath. Most of the hotel guests were elderly Japanese people, giving it a real Showa-era vibe. 😂
Now for the downsides:
1. We were assigned a room without a sea view, and the elevator passed by our window repeatedly, which wasn't very pleasant. I wonder if booking these Japanese chain hotels through Ctrip means you get lower priority for room assignments.
2. As a stopover on the way to Izu, the value for money didn't seem particularly high.
The city of Atami itself is quite boring at night if there isn't a firework festival. If you have enough time, I'd recommend going directly to Ito, Izu Kogen, or Minami-Izu instead, so you don't have to take the train again the next day."
