"The hotel booked at random on this trip completely exceeded expectations and must be praised. Dandan at the front desk was warm and thoughtful, the check-in speed was very fast, and the surrounding food and play routes were intimately informed. It was very comfortable at first glance when I walked into the room. The whole cleaning was spotless, there was no dust in the corner, the bedding was soft and fluffy, and I could fall asleep soon after lying down. The bathroom is separated from wet and dry, hot water is sufficient, and the quality of toiletries is online. The location of the hotel is excellent, it is very convenient to go out to take a taxi and visit the business district. The corridor is quiet and will not be disturbed by noise. The public area is clean and elegant, and the overall atmosphere is full. The price is close to the people, the price is super high, whether it is a short trip or a business trip is very suitable, has been collected, will choose this next time, I really recommend it to everyone."

KKhanh Dong ChhangOur stay at Colorful Danxia Flower House Hotel was truly exceptional—easily a 5-star experience. From the moment we arrived, the owner went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, even personally helping us carry our luggage upstairs. His hospitality didn’t stop there—he kindly assisted us in booking tickets for a local show and even drove us there himself, which made our trip so much more convenient and enjoyable.
The room was spotless, one of the cleanest we’ve stayed in, and it was clear that great care is taken to maintain high standards. We also really appreciated the free laundry service, which was incredibly helpful during our travels.
The location is perfect—just a short walking distance to the west entrance of the Danxia park, making it easy to explore. Right across the hotel is a fantastic restaurant, so finding great food was effortless.
To top it all off, the owner even prepared thoughtful departing gifts for us, which was such a warm and memorable touch. His kindness and attentiveness truly set this place apart. If you’re visiting the area, this hotel is an outstanding choice.

VValarie474A Princess Treatment Stay in Zhangye
From the moment the hotel staff picked me up at the train station, I have received nothing but princess treatment. Whether this is standard or something special because I'm a solo female traveler in an area that doesn't see many foreigners outside of tour groups, I genuinely don't know. What I do know is that I felt looked after from start to finish.
The arrival set the tone. A friendly staff member was waiting right at the train station exit, and the ride to the hotel was barely five minutes. I ended up on the top floor with a mostly unobstructed mountain view, and on a clear day you can apparently catch sunrise and sunset from up there.
My room is enormous for one person. Two full bathrooms, a separate living room, separate bedroom with an additional couch. The little touches genuinely surprised me: a real sewing kit (not the sad three-thread version), a loofah, nice lotion, a plastic liner for the tub, cute slippers I may have to ”accidentally” pack, shower shoes, multiple teas, and a pod coffee maker. Speaking of the tub liner, it came paired with a sachet of ”red wine bath liquid” in this blood-red color, and combined with the plastic sheeting the whole setup gave me serious Dexter vibes. IYKYK. Slightly disturbing, completely awesome. Free laundry down the hall on my floor with washers, dryers, and soap provided. The breakfast spread is plentiful and genuinely good, tons of dishes, real variety.
The one issue during my stay was the climate control. My room hit 28°C and I called down for help. They sent an army of staff. When they realized moving me wouldn't solve anything because the issue affected another room too, they rebooted the system instead of just shuffling me around. By the time I finished dinner and used my included dining credit, my room was cool and comfortable. That's not just good service, that's good problem-solving. They adapted, communicated, and fixed it properly.
The staff deserves their own paragraph. Reception and the kitchen team were complete standouts. Everyone was gracious and warm, and the ones who spoke English did so beautifully even though they kept apologizing for it (they really shouldn't have, they were great). There was a moment at check-in when two excited staff members brought me up to my room and we all forgot the room key in the lobby. One of them ran back down to get it while we laughed about it together. That kind of warmth you can't fake. And it isn't just the front of house, there doesn't seem to be a moment when somebody isn't cleaning something, whether it's the windows, the chairs in the outdoor seating area, the bikes available for guests, or the koi pond. This hotel is genuinely well taken care of by its staff and ownership, and it shows.
I didn't get to do everything I wanted to in Zhangye, which means I'll be back. And when I do come back, I'll be staying right here. I honestly can't say enough good things about this place.

GGuest UserAs someone who frequently stays in hotels, I found the hardware facilities to be good, but the service fell short. My overall experience was not great. Here are a few points I found unsatisfactory:
1. The communication during check-in wasn't pleasant, though they did allow me to check in early.
2. The breakfast quality was decent, but there were too few seats in the restaurant. Having to walk around with my food, searching for and waiting for a table, is something I've rarely encountered.
3. I saw food delivery drivers going directly to guest rooms multiple times. Do they not need a key card to access floors?
4. The toiletries were in wall-mounted dispensers that required a lot of force to use, especially the conditioner. This was particularly difficult for me as I had an injury on my hand.
5. I had confirmed a late checkout until 3 PM via Trip.com. I understand the front desk might not have been aware, and a simple phone confirmation would have sufficed. However, I found their passive-aggressive tone about me not mentioning it proactively to be unprofessional.
I won't list other minor issues. Personally, I don't expect hotel staff to be overly enthusiastic, but they shouldn't make guests feel uncomfortable. The 2-star service rating is specifically for the two ladies at the restaurant's front desk around 9:30 AM on the 20th. They were consistently warm and greeted guests throughout my stay, leaving a strong positive impression.
On the positive side, the hotel facilities are new, the room layout is good, and the soundproofing is effective. It's located near a plaza or residential buildings, so it's not noisy. The hotel is also very close to Zhangye West Station, and with a parking lot, it's convenient for those traveling by car.

MMariiaKipThe hostel is good cared and clean. I think I saw a housekeeper every time when I went out from my room and she was always cleaning smth. That attitude already says a lot about the place. There is a nice not big common area with TV and we even watched a bit of Titanic, water dispenser with available cold and hot water. The staff is speaking English and they organise different tours around the area. It’s very handy. We took 2 tours with them and enjoyed a lot. One to PingShanHu canyon and another to Colourful Danxia. We also met many good-hearted foreign and local travellers there and made friends with some. Speaking about the room the condition was good enough. We shared one room with my friend. It’s a great value for money. Thank you for the incredible stay!

Showing your guesthouse reservation allows you to drive directly up to the property, saving you one shuttle bus ticket. The next day, if you plan to hike the 'Thirty-Three Heavens,' you can drive straight to the parking lot below, which is super convenient and saves a lot of energy 🅿️.
In the evening, you can sign up for the hostess's stargazing tour. The sky was full of clearly visible stars – absolutely stunning! And everyone got some amazing photos!!
Getting up at 8 AM the next day for a leisurely hike up the 'Thirty-Three Heavens' was perfect; we completely avoided the crowds, encountering only cleaning staff and meditating masters. Plus, by getting up early, we even saw blue pheasants and marmots fighting, haha! After the hike, we returned to the guesthouse just in time to check out and have a meal, then said goodbye to the snow-capped mountains feeling content yet reluctant to leave!
I was also really impressed with the facilities in the mountains. The shower water was surprisingly hot! And the toilet didn't clog! Food was always available and tasted great! They even had butter tea! And the snow-capped mountains were visible right from our window for free! Songtsam probably isn't much better than this!

GGuest UserThis is a very special place to stay and the best option for visiting the Danxia Park. I visited in April and essentially had the site to ourselves. The staff is incredibly helpful and friendly, the food is also good. The site is ideal to be able to enter the park early to see the sunset as well as spend time close to the formations from the comfort of the camp. Like any camp one has to be prepared for shared bathrooms and showers, but the overall experience makes it totally worth it. At night it does get a bit cold, depending on the season, but with the heaters provided it was fine. I would highly recommend!

It is not a big hotel and it is a bit old building, but it is well-maintained and it has certain style that is comforting to travelers. Breakfast is well prepared with lots of vegetables but meat content is a bit low.

I was impressed by the Holiday Inn Express at Zhangye for their excellent customer services, delicious breakfast, and room facilities. Their room rate was also surprisely friendly. This low rate may not last once the hotel completes its renovation.
