Scenic Hotels in Oslo

"The hotel's location is good and convenient. Although the room isn't large, it's clean and functional, which was acceptable. I arrived in Oslo a day early, excited for my Silver Sea Arctic cruise, and planned to extend my stay at the hotel for one night after the cruise. When checking in, I specifically mentioned that the cruise company had already booked a room for the following night and asked if I could stay in the same room to avoid switching. The receptionist checked and confirmed that they had specially arranged for me to stay in the same room, and I would just need to renew my key the next day. I was very pleased, thinking the hotel's service was thoughtful and human. However, the next morning when I went to the front desk to renew my key, I was told that if I wanted to continue my stay, I'd have to pay an additional 500 NOK! The hotel management's policy changed so suddenly; I believe their service greatly needs improvement. I also have an extended stay for one night on my return trip. I wonder if they'll try to make me switch rooms or upgrade then?! Very dissatisfied. Also, the bed wasn't very big, and the breakfast chef was very unfriendly."

"The location is not that far from train and bus station, so you can walk about 17 minutes, if you don't have too big luggage. Otherwise, there are seversl tram lines that can take you there in just a two stops, while the stop is just in-front of the hotel. We only stay overnight, having a small breakfast box from the reception at 5 AM. The third bad was not ready, but the reception boy came in 10 mimutes and prepared it for us. There is a coffee machine in the lobby, but it was not for free, as usually in Norwegian hotels. Thrre was no coffee in the room, as well."

"I didn't have time to use the facilities as my flight was changed and I needed to leave early in the morning. I didn't realize breakfast was included (I feel like it usually isn't in Norway), and that was a pleasant surprise, even if I didn't have time to try it. However, the best part of my stay was when I checked out very early to catch my train to the airport and the person in reception offered me a packed breakfast to go since I didn't have time to eat. I passed as I had too much luggage to manage one more thing, but I really appreciated the gesture and it was such a nice start to a long day of intercontinental travel."

"The hotel rooms are small, but the self-service check-in and check-out, as well as luggage storage, are incredibly convenient. Downstairs, there's a simple dining area with boiling water facilities and a spacious common area with plenty of seating. It's also very close to the train station. Highly recommended."

"Located on Karl Johans Gate, this historic hotel boasts an excellent location within walking distance of the Royal Palace and major tourist attractions. The dignified atmosphere and tranquil rooms made for a comfortable stay in Oslo. The breakfast also offered a wide variety of options, making this a highly satisfying hotel."

"I had a positive experience at Scandic Oslo hotel. The hotel is Situated in an excellent location close to the main landmarks of the city, close to public transportation, restaurants and shops. The room and common areas were decent and tidy. My room 302 was small but clean. All the room are well equipped with toiletries such as soap, shampoo and conditioner. Also hair dryer, lock and towels are available. There are no water bottles provided. Definitely I would recommend this hotel."

"A beautiful room but experienced a number of disappointments. Hotel guests must pay a supplement daily charge to use the swimming pools AND book at designated time slot. I have NEVER experienced this at any hotel anywhere in the world. I was in a premium room, but this policy applies to all guests, which I think is awful. It was also impossible to get a spa appointment during my stay. Zero preference given to hotel guests. I strongly suggest you book spa treatments at least a week in advance of your arrival. Also, there is no turndown service, unusual for a highly priced 5* hotel. Housekeeping also finishes very early, or isn’t interested in guests who don’t align with their schedule. I had to work in my room but left at 2:45pm and it was not cleaned despite signalling the room needed making up. The reception team were polite, but chaotic. Generally, the hotel restaurants seem more focused on catering to outside guests, which is a shame."

"The location is superb, connected to the train station. The room size is ok and comfortable for 2 nights stay. Breakfast spread is adequate but same food was served. Gym with free weights. No free coffee, compared to other hotels in Norway. Laundry washing is available in sister hotel, with a fee."

"I took the ferry to Oslo, then a 7-minute walk after bus 81 from the port to reach the hotel. I got my room card an hour earlier than check-in time, and I really loved the top-floor room with a terrace. The hotel is right next to a shopping street. I bought an Oslo Pass, and many attractions are within walking distance, plus it's easy to catch any public transport. Although the furniture is a bit old, the room was clean and tidy, and the breakfast was delicious."

"The breakfast was good, and the room was acceptable. However, the room cleaning service needs improvement: I stayed here for three nights and requested daily room cleaning upon check-in, which was recorded at the front desk. However, when I returned to my room the next day, I found it hadn't been cleaned. I told the front desk, and they sent someone to remove the trash and change the towels. They also told me that my room had been registered for priority cleaning the following day. But the next day, when I returned, the room was completely uncleaned. I think this aspect is very poor."
