The location is quite remote, but I booked it specifically for the mountain views. To be fair, finding mountain scenery like this in Shenzhen is good, but there are high-voltage power lines on the mountain, which is a bit of an eyesore.
The hotel's overall management doesn't meet international standards. From the accent of the front desk staff to the cleanliness details – for instance, the windows, the room's floor-to-ceiling windows, public area windows, and screens all seemed very dirty, as if they're never cleaned. The sliding door in my room was even off its track. When I first entered the room, it was damp; they don't seem to use air conditioning to dehumidify, instead, they just leave the windows open.
There's no air conditioning in the hotel corridors. The airflow on the first floor isn't comfortable, and at breakfast, they had a large fan blowing, which was quite unpleasant. The breakfast selection itself wasn't extensive. The breakfast area wasn't tidied up quickly, and the floor under the seats was dirty.
Aside from these issues, everything else was acceptable, as the hotel is relatively new, and the room facilities are still fresh. They also offered a late check-out.
In summary, if the pictures made it seem like a 5-star experience, the actual stay felt more like 3.5-4 stars. It really loses points on various details where it seems they're trying to cut corners. I'd suggest management improve their quality, as the hotel's hardware is actually quite good.
If you're debating between city view and mountain view, definitely go for the mountain view. The two-bedroom units with a horizontal living room offer a good separation of living and sleeping areas, with the bedrooms at one end. The two-bedroom units with a vertical living room have a 'airplane-style' layout, which is suitable for multi-generational families or two families traveling together, as the rooms at each end face south.

I chose Ascott for my family trip to Shenzhen this time, and I was very satisfied with the overall experience. The location is super convenient, with Raffles City Mall right downstairs and a direct entrance on the third floor. It was so easy to grab a bite! The hotel is also right next to Nanyou Metro Station, making it easy to get anywhere. The rooms are spacious, perfect for families with kids, and fully equipped with a washer and dryer, smart TV + high-speed WiFi. The minibar has drinking water, and the kitchen has a microwave and induction cooker. The gym on the top floor has brand-new equipment, there's a heated swimming pool, and 24-hour attentive room service. Lily's service, in particular, was a pleasant surprise – professional and warm! I'll definitely choose Ascott again on my next visit to Shenzhen!
