They say Australian hotels have bad service, and I experienced this first-hand. Even at a 5-star hotel, the mini-bar was constantly forgotten during daily cleanings in both rooms I booked, which were on different floors.
Also, during breakfast, genuinely friendly staff were few and far between. Out of all the days I stayed, only two female staff members greeted guests with a smile. On April 5th, the front desk was manned by a male attendant in a brown suit, with a brush cut and a beard. My parents arrived before me, so he gave them three English menus. When I arrived, I asked him for a Chinese menu. He said 'okay,' but I waited for a very long time, and he never brought it. During this time, I asked two other staff members about it. I told them I needed a Chinese menu, and they both said 'okay,' but none of them brought it to me. I waited for a very, very long time! I couldn't wait any longer, so I took an English menu myself and went to the front desk to exchange it. As I walked towards the front desk, the same male attendant with the brush cut and beard also walked over. I then told the female attendant at the front desk that I needed a Chinese menu. The male attendant then came over and *actually said* he was also looking for a Chinese menu 🙄. In reality, menus in various languages are usually available at the front desk. And normally, when they check guests in, they ask what language they prefer and provide the appropriate menu. The staff on duty that day hadn't placed Chinese menus on the counter and then delayed providing them when guests asked. I don't want to bring up 'discrimination against Chinese people,' but the attitude of prioritizing foreign guests while neglecting Chinese guests is unacceptable. I will absolutely never choose Capella again!

The hotel's location is fantastic, right above Wynyard Station on the airport line, making it a quick 20-minute journey. It's also within walking distance to famous attractions and great restaurants. The decor is modern and stylish, and the place is very clean. The service was exceptional; Crystal at the front desk checked us in and thoughtfully informed us about the complimentary water, coffee, tea, and co-working space available upstairs. Our room was tidied promptly and kept clean daily. My only minor gripe is that getting in and out of the bed was a bit inconvenient for the person sleeping on the inside. Overall, highly recommended!

Guest UserThe location of the hotel is really good. It's super convenient to go everywhere in the city. The room is very well designed and quite cozy. All staff are really nice, polite, & helpful. The hotel's cafe is cute and the breakfast there is also quite good.
The only issue that we faced in this trip was our A/C was not working on our first night and again on our final night. However, the staff was very helpful and very quickly fixing it. So our overall experience was quite happy.

Abyss777The hotel's amenities are really subpar; it's nothing like a 4-star hotel. Sofitel properties in China are much better configured. I stayed at their hotels in Sydney and Gold Coast this trip, and I definitely won't be staying with this brand again. The bathroom sink was like something out of a hostel – small, single basin, and so low and shallow that when you wash your face or hands, water splashes all over your waist and stomach. We arrived quite late on the first day, and the air conditioning wasn't central, it was very noisy, and the fridge also made a lot of noise. Plus, we were at the end of a hallway. I contacted Ctrip customer service; we couldn't switch rooms on the second day, but they moved us on the third. However, in the new room, the toilet seat didn't have a soft-close mechanism, so it would either slam shut or just fall down. The towels were placed on a tiny shelf – I don't know if that's a deliberate design choice by the hotel? Anyway, it's hard to put into words… all the rooms are at the end of hallways. I absolutely will not stay at any Sofitel brand hotels again… This is my second time in Australia this year, and it's winter, the off-season. Hotel prices were higher than what I booked in February, and my experiences in Gold Coast and Sydney were disappointing… Cairns was even worse, essentially a hostel-level hotel by Chinese standards, with twin beds less than 1 meter wide each… When booking a hotel, it really has to be an international brand, but Sofitel is a chain, and the one in Sydney was truly bad…

Guest UserI booked a room with a view of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, but when I checked in, all I saw were buildings right opposite my window when I opened the curtains. I had to stand to the side of the window to barely catch a glimpse of the bridge. This was completely different from the photos when I booked, and I feel scammed and very disappointed. Also, the breakfast selection was extremely limited; I almost didn't want to eat there on the second morning.

Guest UserThis stay far exceeded my expectations. The hotel's location is super convenient for getting around by taxi or public transport, and there are plenty of restaurants and shops nearby. The room was bright and sunny, spotlessly clean, and the bathroom was dry and odor-free. The bedding was fluffy and soft, ensuring a wonderfully peaceful night's sleep. The front desk staff were gentle and polite, and check-in/check-out was very efficient. When I needed extra slippers or drinking water, they were quickly brought to my room. All the facilities were well-maintained, with stable hot water and smooth internet. It's perfect whether you're traveling solo or with company, offering great value for money. I'll definitely stay here again next time I'm in town.

The hotel ticks a lot of boxes, clean modern rooms, pool and steam room, and in the best location, very central over looking the beach. The hotel has just had a refurbishment, very tidy with a good bar and restaurant on the ground floor. Only slight negative, front dest - check in could be better and a bit more friendly.
If you want to stay in Manly, this hotel is your best choice, the other main hotel is way down at the end of the beach.

This is my second stay. The last time was before the pandemic. I feel that the hotel has not changed much overall, but there are some minor adjustments. There is a pungent smell of spray paint in the corridor near the room. After I told the front desk, I immediately changed the room and gave a bottle of red wine. The only thing I think is that the hotel parking is expensive.
