This is my second time staying here. As always every thing is perfect. They allowed us to have an early check in since the room was ready early. From check in to check out time everything was smooth. Luckily we were able to see again our favourite staff Ady but this time we saw many new faces. Thank you Ady for wonderful service again. Not forgetting Joshua as the Front Office Ambassador and the Duty Manager i forgot his name though. The housekeeping also maintained their good service to ensure our room condition was perfect. Kudos to Harun for the great work! And also thank you for the maintenance staff Rahim for assisting me to get better wifi connection. Please maintain what you all doing!
I was upgraded to a Deluxe room but it was at the extreme corner next to the service staircase. Grateful for the upgraded but the room conditions were not up to par . Hair in shower room , the shower holder fell when I was taking it out and it dropped on my toe . Hence the blue black toe shown ( hehe ) . I could not sleep the whole night as the air con was very very noisy even when I lower the adjustment. The day curtain was torn . I sound it out to reception the next morning to see whether they can change my room as I was staying for another 2 nights . They did and I reckoned it was another up grade as now the room has a standing shower room . In the other previous room , you have to stand in the bath tub to shower and for a man of 65 , it is a bit tricky . The hotel really needs an up grade too . It is in a good location and CAT bus is nearby . The CAT shuttle is a complimentary bus that moves around the town area .
The saving grace for my trip was that the staff was up to par and reacted quickly . Well done on this .
Now , I wait for my toe to heal .
The hotel staff were all very polite, the bed was comfortable, and the shower had great water pressure. They even noted my request and gave me a quiet room with no noise. The breakfast was decent, and the coffee was strong and really woke me up.
There's a mall right to the left when you exit, and a supermarket downstairs. Across the street, there's a 7-Eleven, and GAMA also has a supermarket downstairs. It's a moderate distance to tourist attractions, about a 20-minute walk, and about a 30-minute drive to the airport if there's no traffic. Little India is nearby, so there are quite a few Indian people around. I'm not used to it since I don't know much about the culture, but we mostly kept to ourselves. However, after each room cleaning, we'd find a few long hairs that weren't ours, which I hope they can improve upon.
Top notch service, everything was well taken cared off and the room is clean and in good condition. Location of the hotel is between Bayan Lepas and Georgetown, so nothing is too far from the hotel, quiet location too even if its next to a semi major road.
However, do temper your expectations, as while it does offer basic amenities like a hair dryer, TV with YouTube and safe, consumables such as the shampoo, soap and toothbrush are of the generic and cheap type, so I recommend bringing your own one, and also laundry bags, tea and coffee are also not provided.
However, the critical bits like freezing aircon, and hot shower water is all there, so its a functional and practical room to be in, plenty of empty space to do packing or other things too! Bed feels a bit hard for my liking.
Overall, worth another visit for its relatively low cost and fulfilling the basics very well!
Although the hotel opened in 2014, the rooms' facilities and cleanliness are still very well-maintained. The shower has great water pressure, making for a very comfortable bathing experience. The pillows in the room were a bit uncomfortable for me – too high and too springy. The bed was large and the mattress was very comfortable. My room didn't come with bathrobes. It was quiet at night, and the air conditioning in the room was strong. Directly opposite the hotel is a large shopping mall, and a big supermarket is not far away. It's also within walking distance to various attractions. The infinity pool is excellent, with a good long lane for swimming. Breakfast is served from 6:30 AM to 10 AM, and the food selection is substantial and fitting for a 4-star hotel, offering everything you'd expect.
The hotel's location is decent, and the building itself is impressive. The lobby service was good; we arrived in the morning, and while early check-in wasn't an option for most, we were able to store our luggage and head out to explore. The room size was acceptable, and it was kept clean. The Wi-Fi speed was a bit slow, but housekeeping did a great job every day. There's a lively night market right downstairs, bustling every night except Wednesdays. It's about a 15-minute walk to the Mural Street. Breakfast was fine, and the restaurant staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. During our stay, there was some exterior renovation happening, which the hotel informed us about in advance. However, the most annoying issue was the highly unstable water supply during those days. We occasionally had no hot water during the day, and sometimes even a complete water cutoff. When the water did return, it was very yellow. On the evening of the 23rd, there was no hot water at all, and we had to wait until 11:30 PM for a hot shower. This was the biggest flaw of our stay, and I hope the hotel addresses and improves this.
• The Hotel: The hotel is easy access from main road. The building is conjoined with michelin restaurant (same entrance in lobby).
• The room: I arrived an hour early and the staff offer earlier checkin since my room was ready, how amazing! The room was enough for 1 person and there's a designated space for luggage so it didn't block the way / on the floor. Clean and well maintained. Basic amenities were met. Hot/Cold water works (just need time to warm up). Window can be open for air movement. I didn't have breakfast service because there're SO many restaurants nearby and walking distance.
• The nearby attractions: The reason I chose this hotel cause it's all walking distance from places I want to go. The famous Penang Laksa is just 5 minutes walk from the hotel! And 2 minutes walk from the hotel is Kimberley Street (famous for night market street foods). There are 1 convenience store 24/7 within 4 mins of the hotel walk. The iconic P66 Store is walking distance (7 minutes), Makan Pagi is just 10 minutes walk, and even: the famous Armenian Street is just 1km / 10 minutes slow walk away from the hotel. The location is just strategic for my itineraries.
Overall, I enjoy my stay and if I visit Penang again, definitely will stay here. It's safe for female solo travelers.
Notes: 1) Like others pointed out, there's no concierge and trolley service so you gotta drag your suitcases. Entrance access is wheelchair friendly too!
2) There're 100 MYR deposit, to be returned when you checkout (don't lose the paper receipt!)
This hotel is considered an older, established 4-star property in the old town, and some of the facilities are a bit dated; I hope they can be updated. The hotel breakfast is excellent, with a good variety and local specialties, though I wish they'd improve the drink quality. My room was old, the AC was leaking, and the ceiling was visibly peeling. Lin at the front desk, who speaks Chinese, provided exceptional service, while others were just average. We arrived on New Year's Eve without a reservation for the buffet dinner, but Lin communicated with the restaurant and managed to get us an extra table so we could enjoy our New Year's Eve meal. However, the 188 MYR price didn't match the quality; if this were in China, it probably wouldn't last a month. The salmon was cut into small strips, and the plate was empty quickly—looks like it's the same everywhere, haha. Ninety percent of the diners were local Chinese. The hotel is located in the old town, about a 15-minute walk to the mural street, and not far from Little India and the Peranakan Museum. There's a hawker center downstairs, but it was closed for the New Year. Overall, the hotel is good, and the location is quiet yet central.
The location is excellent! Buses like the 101, 201, and 202 can take you to the ferry terminal, while the 204 goes to Penang Hill and Kek Lok Si Temple. There's also a free shuttle bus stop right across the street (be aware it's a one-way service). Most attractions are quite close, with the exception of Chew Jetty, the Beach Street Fire Station, the mural street, and the Gurney Drive Clock Tower, which are a bit further (over 20 minutes walk). Several Michelin-starred eateries are within a 10-minute walk. However, Penang gets very hot, so it's best to stick to indoor activities between 11 AM and 4 PM.
The hotel service is great. They can provide change for smaller denominations, and housekeeping is very prompt. The purified water dispenser in the hallway perfectly refills the water bottle in the room twice. The complimentary iced drinks are a thoughtful touch. Breakfast is abundant, and I highly recommend the roti canai.
Considering the prime location, it offers excellent value for money. Highly recommended.
Good stay at Jazz Hotel Penang 👍
Really satisfied with my trip here. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable, with a bathtub and even a complimentary bath bomb which made the stay extra relaxing. Love the rooftop pool and the overall modern vibe.
Location is convenient — walking distance to Straits Quay and easy access to Gurney area for food. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout the stay.
Overall a pleasant experience, will definitely come back again!

RRayTFirst of all the hotel rented out the rooms for individual operator.
So there will be different check in counter.
Upon check in, been told that the room card not functioning as they are doing upgrading, so every time u come back will need to call the house keeping to unlock the door.
Most importantly they charge RM 17 per night for car parking. So a lot of car parking outside which make the entrance a bit difficult

BBabylindPlace is super clean. Location is just next to city centre (5 minutes drive). Sofa bed is comfy and we selected the unit with Cinema theme (projector). We all enjoyed our relaxing movie time at late evening. Check in procedures is clear and easy too.
Overall, we are satisfied with the place.
NNavyTravyWe enjoyed our stay here. The location of this place is great, quiet and strategic, convenient to travel with a car. Not bad for a refurbished hotel, yet, cleanliness can still be improved, but no big deal and quite satisfactory for our stay. The pool and beach as well the other public areas are great to hang out, In my opinion. The only downside is that, the walls are really thin, especially when our room is a connecting room, we can literally hear every single word from the person next door, which can be disturbing and insecure. Will definitely come back if the quality maintains.
GGuest UserThe gardens and beach were beautiful, and I spent most of my time swimming and lounging outdoors, which was very comfortable and pleasant. I even saw some large monitor lizards. The gardens at the Rasa Sayang were even prettier.
The room itself was very old, as it's a hotel from 1995. There were large cockroaches in the bathroom. I hope they can renovate and improve it.
During my Easter stay, it wasn't too crowded, and I didn't experience the noise from the mosque or children that some online reviews mentioned. However, I was assigned a room on the second floor, and the activity room on the first floor had singing and performances all day, which was quite noisy. I recommend requesting a higher floor.
The restaurants at both Golden Sands and Rasa Sayang were very bad; I don't recommend trying them.
It's an hour's drive from George Town and Penang Hill, but closer to the Spice Garden (which is quite small) and the National Park. It's suitable for a two-day stay to relax at the hotel before moving on to George Town.
