5-Star Hotels in Penang, Malaysia

I had a very pleasant stay at this hotel. The room was clean, comfortable, and well maintained. The staff were friendly, professional, and very helpful throughout my stay. The location is convenient and makes getting around easy. Overall, a great experience and I would definitely stay here again.

We stayed in G Hotel Kelawai for 5 nights. The hotel is between two shopping malls - Gurney Plaza and Gurney Paragon. Excellent location. Another hotel nearby (about 400m) is G Hotel Gurney. Both the hotels' guests are given the option to use each other's facilities and guests are given the flexibility to have their breakfast at either hotel without any advanced notice. By the way, G Hotel Gurney is the older hotel and is directly connected to Gurney Plaza, whereas G Hotel Kelawai is less crowded and quieter, which we liked. The breakfast variety is acceptable for guests who are on a short stay. Out of curiosity, we wanted to try out the breakfast at G Hotel Gurney but were prevented from doing so because of the heavy rain. Upon request, hotel guests can commute between the two by the hotels' buggy. The 25-m swimming pool and gym in Kelawai were hardly used. Clean and well-maintained rooms.

Clean room with good scent  environment. Breakfast was delicious and many varities. Cardless ample parking is convenient. Location near to Queensbay mall is a plus. The food at night hawker center-PISA CORNER opposite the hotel is so delicious and cheap.

A great stay at the Ascott hotel! Fantastic facilities - pool, gym, laundry room, large kids play room and covered kids pool with slides. Rooms were super spacious with a high standard of finish. Daily housekeeping always did a great job and the toiletries provided were good quality. Comfortable pillows and beds and large windows. I would recommend this hotel for business, families and couples and it meets everyone’s needs well. Breakfast was also great - although we stayed over Christmas so was quite busy..but despite this, the pool area was never crowded. Beautiful views from the pool too. If I return to Penang, I would stay here again.

I stayed for six days and five nights, and had to switch rooms on the very first night. The shower pressure was weak, and the water kept fluctuating between hot and cold. The bathroom floor drain was clogged, and the air conditioning in the room was insufficient, with the control panel locked and unadjustable (after changing rooms, only the clogged bathroom drain improved)! Room cleanliness was acceptable, and the breakfast was a buffet, but the quality was just average, so don't expect too much! It definitely doesn't feel like a five-star hotel.

The room was very clean and had a lovely vintage decor. The towels were also very comfortable. The hairdryer was broken, but I only stayed one day. All the staff were very polite. A special shout-out to the doorman who worked tirelessly to open the incredibly heavy door for me every time I went in and out. The location is excellent, super close to the Blue House. It's only about 200 meters to Yipin Seafood Noodle Restaurant. As an overnight stay hotel, it was pretty good, my only regret is that for over 700 a night, the room was quite small.

1 Night 31Dec stay at this 5 Star establishment ***** From the main entrance greeting concierge to front desk service was impeccable. One feels the ambience of VIP moving from one area to the other. Room paid for was Sea View, and it certainly was. A Grand Suite as big as my house, but with everything being luxurious and of high quality. Huge bed, even bigger Bathroom with His&Hers basins, robes, towels. Then you face the floor to ceiling window to find a modern bathtub. An outrageous way to surprise my lady and celebrate the start of 2026. Not sure, I’ll be back anytime soon, as I need to save me pennies…….hahaha!

The room design is excellent, and the cleanliness and service are top-notch. The location is also very convenient, with plenty of restaurants and convenience stores downstairs. It's just a few minutes' walk to catch a boat to the train station, and it only takes 15 minutes and 2 ringgit to get there.

A very enjoyable experience with some of the best decor of any boutique hotel, not just in Asia. The staff went out of their way to make our stay pleasant and make us feel special. The hotel lacks decent gym facilities and the pool needs a mid-height front privacy wall to separate it from the street, but otherwise, it is fabulous. The food is good to very good and the international wine list is broad and well balanced in price and variety. And, the first drink on the house each evening helps settle you in for the evening after a hard day's trekking around Georgetown. Much to be liked. Recommended vs any cookie-cutter hotel for the same price.

Although the hotel doesn't look new or modern, the interior is mostly wooden and painting. The hotel room was very clean especially the toilet. The breakfast buffet is delicious with a variety of choices.
