I saw the high rating on Trip.com and decisively chose to stay at this hotel, considering it as a potential top choice for future business trips.
**Welcome:** Communication was seamless, and the doorman quickly guided me to the parking lot.
**Parking:** There are two options: paid valet parking outside the hotel lobby, and a multi-story parking garage on floors 4-5 (free if you register at the front desk). There's a direct elevator from the parking lot to the lobby on the G floor, but it doesn't go directly to guest room floors.
**Lobby/Front Desk:** Complimentary welcome drinks were available. The front desk staff were highly efficient, completing check-in within about 5 minutes. They also clearly informed me about the complimentary supper buffet at 11 PM (porridge, red bean soup, soy milk, and some side dishes). They also accommodated my request for a late check-out.
**Guest Room:** I stayed on the 7th floor this time. There was a subtle, pleasant aroma from the lobby all the way to the room, not overpowering. The room was about 40 square meters, quite spacious, and the layout was very practical. The twin room also featured a bathtub, with warm lighting perfect for a relaxing soak. I personally prioritize good air conditioning, and it was excellent. The soundproofing of the glass was also good; occasionally, I could still hear the roar of modified cars or supercars.
**Facilities:** The infinity pool on the rooftop (R floor) offered a great view. However, I noticed the hotel doesn't seem to have a gym, though I'm not entirely sure.
**Breakfast:** The variety and selection were just average, not particularly extensive. The taste seemed to cater more to local Malaysian preferences.
**Pros:**
① Complimentary supper, a thoughtful touch, which is rare for hotels in Malaysia.
② Direct access between the hotel and Ipoh Parade shopping mall.
③ Centrally located, so no worries about food and drinks.
④ Extremely fast room service. I requested a bucket of ice, and it arrived within 7 minutes. Impressive!
⑤ The complimentary mini-bar included regular coffee and tea, plus two extra beverages and two packets of peanuts/nuts.
**Areas for Improvement:**
① I noticed that during supper time, the tables already had breakfast cutlery and tissues laid out. After guests finished supper and the used cutlery was cleared, the unused cutlery remained on the table. This is a significant hygiene concern. I suggest setting up breakfast cutlery after supper service.
② The hairdryer should be placed in the bathroom for guests' convenience, not in the wardrobe (as the noise can disturb a companion).
③ There was noticeable dust in the light strip recess next to the toilet in the bathroom.
④ The Wi-Fi speed needs improvement. While not terrible, it wasn't ideal and affected work efficiency.
⑤ The anti-slip properties of the floor tiles in the shower were not very good. This issue needs attention to prevent falls. Anti-slip coating could be applied, non-slip mats provided, or warning signs posted for guests.
**Summary:** As an experienced business traveler who has stayed in no less than 500 hotels worldwide, including high-end and luxury establishments, the above review is absolutely fair and reflects my personal experience. Overall, I'm quite satisfied. Considering the price and hotel category, it's worth returning to.
I stayed during a public holiday and school holiday period, so a large crowd was expected. Unfortunately, the check-in process took over two hours. I queued from 6:00 PM and only checked in around 8:30 PM. Initially, there were two staff members handling check-ins, but later only one remained.
Credit to the staff member on duty he stayed calm and professional despite the heavy crowd and queue cutting incidents. The issue was clearly a lack of manpower and planning. Management should anticipate higher guest volumes during long weekends and streamline the check-in process.
The unit itself was clean, comfortable, and in excellent condition. Overall, the stay was enjoyable, but the check-in experience needs significant improvement during peak periods.
Our stay at this hotel was absolutely amazing. The hotel and the surrounding are stunning, the staff is super friendly and the facilities could not have been better. Upon our arrival, our rental car had a flat tyre and the staff was so helpful and fixed this for us immediately. As travellers from Europe this is an excellent service which is so helpful when you do not speak the local language to communicate with for instance the people at the garage. Additionally, we received a free upgrade of our hotel room from the lake villa to the garden villa, for two nights in a row. This villa with private pool and garden is stunning. All the caves and the surrounding facilities are so impressive and nature and luxury blends together perfectly. This is a must visit.
The hotel's exterior is new and fresh, and the room is bright and comfortable with a modern, 'cyber' design. The toilet in the bathroom is state-of-the-art, and the in-room electronic system is very convenient to use. The lobby staff were all smiles, attentive, and friendly. The hotel is located near the city center, less than a ten-minute drive away, which is very convenient. For Ipoh, Malaysia, this hotel is definitely a five-star experience. Highly recommended!
I booked a 3 bedroom suite horizon view and they upgraded me to one with lake view which was great! The unit has a nice view of the limestone hills and the lake which is surrounding the hotel.
Suite is clean and everything functions well. There’s a water filter machine providing hot and cold water which is a great sustainable element, not using plastic water bottles in their suites.
Breakfast buffet spread is also good with both western and local style dishes.
I recently stayed at DoubleTree by Hilton Damai Laut Resort to celebrate a special anniversary, but unfortunately, the experience did not meet my expectations.
Upon arriving at 3:00 PM, I had to wait in a very long queue for check-in and only received my room key at approximately 3:40 PM. After entering the room, I noticed that the anniversary decorations I had requested were in place, but the cake, chocolates, and fruit platter that I had paid for were not provided. As this was intended to be a surprise for my husband, it was quite disappointing.
What was even more frustrating was that no one informed me that these items were not yet ready. I had to call and follow up myself to check on their status. The cake and other items only arrived more than an hour later, which significantly reduced the excitement and impact of the surprise.
I was also surprised to find that the minibar fridge was completely empty, with no canned drinks or refreshments available. Considering the room rate was approximately RM1,200 per night, I expected more than just complimentary bottled water.
The room was advertised as having a king-size bed, but it felt smaller than expected. In addition, the dinner buffet pricing for children was quite expensive at RM50 per child. My children are 8 and 10 years old and, like most children their age, they eat only small portions and usually only one or two dishes. The breakfast charges for children were also relatively high, making the overall dining cost difficult to justify for young children.
To make matters worse, the cashier accidentally charged my children's dinner twice. Although the duplicate charge was voided, I was informed that the refund process could take between 7 and 14 weeks. This seems like an excessively long waiting period for a billing error made by the hotel.
Overall, this stay was disappointing and frustrating. I had expected a smooth and memorable experience for such a special occasion, but several service shortcomings negatively affected our celebration. I hope the management will review these issues and make improvements to enhance the guest experience in the future.
Reasons for the low service rating:
1. Host did not initiate contact with me regarding booking information. I have to send them a message to inquire for a booking that I had already paid for.
2. Host requires a RM200 deposit which my friend who had booked with a different host at the exact same location did not demand.
3. After making the deposit payment in the morning at 10.30am and providing all other information requested, host did not respond to provide any additional information such as unit number and pin code for to retrieve access card.
4. At 5pm when I had finally arrived at the building, I still had not received any form of communication from the host. I had attempted to call their service line (+601157651449) but no one responded to the 6 calls that I had made.
5. At the mailbox area, I had also overheard another visitor that was also facing similar issue where the pin provided to her was not working and that she was also not getting response from the host.
6. Host offered late checkout that I did not need as I was departing early morning the next day.
The building is relatively new but the number of lift does not cater to the residents, there are many occasions where we had to skip multiple lift rides as it was overcrowded. The unit itself is clean with basic amenities.
This is a very new hotel apartment. It's fully equipped with pots, pans, an induction cooker, microwave, refrigerator, and hairdryer. The only thing missing is a washing machine, but all other essential in-room facilities are there. The room is quite spacious; we booked a two-bedroom apartment. At around 140 Malaysian Ringgit per night during the May Day holiday, it offered great value for money. It was more than enough space for our family of three, with one king-sized bed and two single beds. The living room had a sofa, and surprisingly, the TV even had Mango TV and Tencent TV! 😂
The infinity pool on the hotel's top floor isn't huge but is very tastefully designed. There's also a co-working space specifically for digital nomads, and the gym is excellent. The garden on the second floor is beautiful both day and night.
The hotel itself isn't far from the city center. It's about 6-8 MYR by Grab from the train station, and roughly the same to the Mural Street. To Perak Cave and Mirror Lake, it's about 8-10 MYR, making it very convenient to get around.
The only issue is that since the apartment is quite new, Grab's current pick-up/drop-off point is located at the main entrance on the main road. If you have a lot of luggage, you might need to ask the driver to go around to the reception area at the back of the apartment.
I really like this hotel, the common areas are really pretty, every angle are instagrammable. The room was so clean and comfortable. 2 rooms for a price like this is beyond worth it. They have small kitchen with electric stove and microwave. Will definitely come again
A big thanks to the management for free upgrade to studio suites 😍 We felt at home, the room with all the necessities, fresh airs, complimentary drinks and kacang putih, member price for in room service of the Dome. I especially love the bath, water pressure is strong 👍🏻 It would be even better if lotion is provided 😊

GGuest UserMarina Island Boat transfer easy, although I feel a little expensive. Coffee was cold, they had wrong check in information and I almost tripped on uneven block surface exiting building to boat. Check in completed at reception , with correction to booking. We were in a lower tropical garden villa, which is cheapest room. We were lucky to have part sea view and part back of pool view. Other lower villas in this category, not so good a view. This said, room was gorgeous, despite dead moth in sunken bath area. All the staff were fantastic and helpful. Chatted to some people in over water villas, who were disappointed you could not swim in sea from villa, nor enter sea from beach around jetty , due to sea urchins. On the other side of the Island is Emerrald bay. Absolutely stunning! Beautiful beach and sea to swim in. Lots of space for sun beds, but everyday ran out by 11am! Suggest they get some more! Forfeited scrumptious in all restaurants.
