Beautiful hotel in a fantastic location. Carpenter street, the waterfront, where nightly light shows (approx 15mins) are held and various historical buildings and sites are right at the doorstep of the hotel or within walking distance. There is also an excellent mall (Plaza Merdeka) is connected to the hotel which is a plus. Great service from all staff, thank you so much for making our stay so enjoyable
The management needs improvement. Even the simplest check-in process can go wrong. Our two-night stay was reduced to one night, and we were even called and asked why we didn’t check out on time.
We explained the situation to the hotel management, but they never called us back. After that, We were so nervous that we thought the hotel had thrown our things out, so we rushed back to the hotel to deal with it. They didn’t even an apology.
Effective hotel reviews highlight specific details like staff friendliness, cleanliness, room comfort, and location. Positive reviews often praise unique amenities, breakfast variety, and helpful service, while constructive reviews focus on issues with noise, cleanliness, or room size. High-quality reviews provide context, such as being a business traveler or visiting for a weekend getaway
They have waterslides, which is great for kids! However, we were on the 2nd floor and there was no elevator, which could be a hassle if you have a lot of luggage. Of course, the staff there can help you with your bags. The Chinese restaurant across the street is super delicious; the chef, originally from Guangdong, is excellent at preparing seafood.
The hotel offers shuttle services to both the airport and the park. These were open-sided, safari-style trucks, which made for a unique experience. The shuttles circulated constantly between all points, so we never had to wait long. The hotel rooms are all designed like stilt houses, preventing any dampness from the ground. There were occasional power outages, but the hotel was always well-prepared; the restaurant staff would promptly convert to a candlelight dinner setting.
I stayed at Sheraton Kuching for three nights during the Raya holiday. Overall, we had a pleasant and comfortable experience. The hotel is new, modern, and well-maintained, and the general service quality was good. Our room was spacious and clean, but we did encounter a minor issue with the shower. The selector button for the shower head was stuck, so we couldn’t switch to the handheld option. It seemed like something that maintenance might have overlooked, or perhaps previous guests didn’t report it. Breakfast, however, was slightly below expectations for a hotel of this standard. While the spread was adequate, the variety and overall execution could be improved to match the brand and the hotel’s otherwise high standards. Despite these small shortcomings, we were still happy with our stay and appreciate the comfort and convenience the hotel provided. With a few improvements especially to breakfast and room maintenance. Still regard as one of the top stays in Kuching.
Everything was fine, no major issues. But was expecting a bit more for a RM1500 per night stay, eg more attentive and coordinated staff, larger breakfast spread, bathroom drains that didn't smell. Not comparable with other hotels in this price point. Porters were not well informed of facility operating hours. maître d' at restaurant was inconspicuous, walked in and several staff just stared at us, felt awkward and unwelcoming. Food at breakfast was pretty average, not bad, but could do with a more premium touch.

The hotel's location is excellent. Right across the street is the riverside park, making it very convenient to walk to Rainbow Bridge. The Parliament House on the opposite side is just a ten-minute walk away. In the evening, strolling along the Sarawak River on the opposite bank is also lovely. Just a heads-up: if you're returning to this side, make sure you get back before the Parliament House gate closes at 7 PM. We didn't notice the sign and ended up having to take a small ferry back. There are plenty of places to eat nearby. Except for the Sarawak Cultural Village and the Cat Museum, which require a taxi, all other attractions are within walking distance. Many museums are also worth visiting. There's a great Indian restaurant nearby that gets busy at lunchtime. The hotel's service and facilities are top-notch, especially the swimming pool, which has a fantastic ambiance. They even provide a complimentary fruit platter. Kuching is a city with a rich cultural heritage and is definitely worth a visit.
Damai Lagoon Resort is nestled between the Mountain Santubong and the South China Sea. The resort environment is serene tugged in a tropical rainforest setting. The area provides a tranquil retreat with dense jungles and sandy beaches. The Sarawak Cultural Village is located just a stone’s throw away. It is within 10 minutes walking distance.
We were given all sea-fronting views with one corner rooms on the 3rd floor. We could listen to the waves crashing on the beach during high tide. The spacious space coupled with modern shower amenities and comfortable bedding made our stay an enjoyable experience and we had a relaxing time there. The buffet breakfast served was sumptuous with wide spread of local cuisines.
We enjoyed swimming in the clean infinity pool in a sunset backdrop. There are many indoor games provided for the children. Thus, you will not get bored staying in this resort. The resort entrance is grand and the guest lounge is huge and beautiful overlooking the sea.
The resort staff members are very helpful and friendly. The resort is highly recommended if you want to have a relaxing holiday outside Kuching city.
Thank you.

AAJ & ECCheck in process was smooth and seamless. Room were located at 15th Floor. Room definitely has aged after the many years in operation. All were good, nevertheless. Breakfast next day was the highlight. A good selection of international and local dishes were served. Good variety I would personally say. Sservice staff was attentive and kitchen team delivered what was requested. Definitely will make a return visit to the hotel again 👍🏻
