Cheap Hotels in Fukuoka

"I've stayed at Mitsui Garden hotels several times during my trips to Tokyo and always had a good impression. So, when I saw a great price for their Fukuoka location, I booked it without hesitation. The hotel's location is excellent, just a few hundred meters from the subway station, and surrounded by numerous restaurants and shops. The highlight is definitely the public bath (sento); although not large, it's impeccably clean, and you can enjoy a relaxing soak while gazing at the moon. On my last day, I needed to do some personal work, so I requested a late check-out. The latest they could extend was until 1 PM, costing 2000 JPY per hour (tax included). The front desk handled my request quickly and efficiently, and the service was very nice. It would be perfect if the room's internet speed were a bit more stable."

"Rooms are a little small even for japan standards, but overall still a pleasant experience staying for 4 nights. Was a little pricey but it’s on par with Fukuoka prices so not much to say. The location is less convenient than I thought it would be, Nanakuma Line doesn’t really have much so still have to change trains or just walk the 10 mins to Hakata Station, which can be a hassle in summer weather."

"This hotel is super convenient for visiting nearby attractions and shopping. The rooms are spacious, and the service is excellent. I'll definitely stay here again. It's located in the heart of Tenjin, making getting around incredibly easy. You can walk to the bus station and major department stores, so shopping and finding food are a breeze. The rooms are clean and tidy, the bedding is comfortable, and all the essential facilities are there. The front desk staff is patient and efficient, even helping us with check-in smoothly when our flight was unexpectedly canceled."

"This hotel is conveniently located near Exit 1 of Tenjin-Minami Station on the Nanakuma Line, just a 3-5 minute walk across the street from Daimaru department store. If you're coming from Fukuoka Airport by public transport, you'll need to take the shuttle bus from the international terminal to the domestic terminal, then switch to the Kuko Line subway to Hakata, and finally transfer to the Nanakuma Line (green line) to Tenjin-Minami. If you take the Kuko Line directly to Tenjin and walk to the hotel, it's quite a long trek. A taxi to the airport costs around 2200 yen. A highlight of this hotel is its hot spring bath, or public onsen. I can't show photos since photography isn't allowed. The breakfast spread is also excellent, and the staff are all very polite. The hotel also sells amenities from the Glimmer hotel line."

"This is an older hotel chain, and I chose it this time because the first hotel I stayed at in Japan over a decade ago was a Nikko. I haven't picked it in a long time, so I wanted to try it again, purely for nostalgic reasons. The hotel's location is excellent, with convenient transportation, and the service remains good. However, during this stay, they were undergoing exterior renovations, which meant I couldn't open the curtains, making the room feel a bit claustrophobic. The hotel didn't mention this special circumstance on the booking platform, nor did they inform me during check-in. They also didn't offer to move me to a room not affected by the renovations or provide any other form of compensation. The complete lack of communication and options is truly unacceptable. "The hotel is perfectly located with subway stations, restaurants, parks, and the central arcade, and Tenjin within a few minutes of walk. I stayed there for 7 nights with breakfast and was very satisfied with my choice. If you do not need a heavy breakfast then book the room only as the coffee in the lobby is free 24/7, and all you need to do is to take an assortment of items from the nearby supermarket or convenient stores, although the breakfast was nice.  Next stop is Osaka for me and will return to Fukuoka. After knowing this hotel I booked it again for my final three nights in Fukuoka after my excursion to Osaka."

"The hotel is in a very convenient location. I could go back and forth while shopping. The staff is also very nice and friendly, they helped me to call taxi to airport very early in the morning too. There are amenities for you to pick up at lobby so you can grab as many as needed."

"The hotel itself is as advertised. The lobby is definitely large for a Japanese hotel, and the room size was decent. However, the bathroom had a strange odor, possibly from the pipes, and this was an issue for both nights of our stay. But, to be fair, the overall service standard was excellent. On the second day, I forgot to put out the 'clean my room' sign, but the hotel thoughtfully left fresh towels and water outside our door, showing great respect for privacy, which I really appreciated!"

"This was my first time staying at Hotel New Otani Fukuoka, and its location is fantastic. It's right next to the Nanakuma Line subway station, and you can walk directly along Watanabe-dori to the Tenjin shopping district. Nearby, you'll find Mitsukoshi, Daimaru department stores, Daikoku Drugstore, sports brand shops, electronics stores, and more – making shopping incredibly convenient. As for the stay itself, the room size is generous for a Japanese hotel. I'd give the cleanliness, environment, and service a perfect five out of five, and the facilities a four. The staff's politeness and enthusiasm also deserve a five. However, I do need to point out that the hotel's breakfast doesn't quite live up to its five-star standard. The restaurant on the first floor feels small, and the breakfast selection is just average, nothing special. Also, with the current trend of non-smoking policies, why doesn't the hotel implement a complete smoking ban in all guest rooms? For guests with asthma who can't stand the smell of smoke, this feels unfriendly, doesn't it? Even if they've tried to remove the smoke smell, the lingering scent absorbed into the room, carpet, and walls still feels very strong. Smelling it can even trigger coughing and wheezing. If they could improve and upgrade the breakfast to better match a five-star hotel's positioning, and implement a complete smoking ban in guest rooms (with designated smoking areas), I believe even more guests would happily choose to stay at Hotel New Otani."

"The electric kettle had a strong, unpleasant odor after boiling – seriously, what the heck?! And it was incredibly noisy outside at night, didn't quiet down until around 1 AM! On the plus side, it had a balcony, the location was decent, and the room itself was okay."
