The hotel's location is pretty good, close to the business district. The room is a bit small but quite clean, suitable for solo travelers. It's an economical choice. It's quite a distance from Don Mueang Airport, about 1.5 hours by metro.

The location is fantastic, right in the heart of Silom. It's about a 5-10 minute walk to the BTS station, which is perfect for us buddies! The room was a bit small, but it had everything we needed and felt quite new. No critters, very clean. I didn't book breakfast since I never wake up in time, so no comment there. On our second day, the front desk attendant even upgraded us to a better room – loved that! The hotel's gym is super well-equipped, great for a daily workout with the guys, and it even has a sauna. This will definitely be our go-to hotel in Bangkok from now on.

This is the coziest and most comfortable hostel I've ever stayed at in Bangkok. The front desk staff and cleaning ladies were all incredibly gentle and friendly. Every corner was clean and bright, the beds were soft and comfortable, and the toilet and shower were separate and spotless. There's also a kitchen available for use. My absolute favorite was the small balcony; I could spend ages out there, haha! 😁 Regarding the comments about street noise, I always bring an eye mask and earplugs when I travel, especially for hostels, as they're pretty essential. Anyway, I slept really well for all four nights! Hehe~

On 1 April 2025, Beca (Thailand) Co., Ltd., as a structural engineer and Engineer of Record for the Amara Bangkok Hotel, conducted an inspection of the Amara Bangkok Building on Surawong Road. This inspection was requested by Amara Bangkok Hotel to undertake a rapid post-earthquake structural damage assessment following the earthquake on 28 March 2D25 that impacted Bangkok. Background Amara Bangkok Building on Surawong Road was designed to withstand vibrations caused by earthquakes in compliance with The Ministerial Building Regulations and The Department of Public Works and Town & Country Planning: DPT Standard 1301-1302 for earthquake-resistant building design, which incorporated data from past recorded earthquakes in Thailand and neighboring countries. Impact of Earthquake on Structural Capacity The inspection was conducted of readily viewable structural elements only, with the focus on main structural members as well as structural components in parts of the building expected to experience earthquake forces based on structural analysis and design. Based on the results of our inspection after the earthquake of 28 March 2025, it is our opinion that the property has not sustained any visible structural damage that would diminish its structural capacity. This means that the building appears to be in an unchanged structural condition compared with before the earthquake. With a stay at Amara Bangkok, you'll be centrally located in Bangkok, within a 10-minute walk of Wat Hua Lamphong and Samyan Mitrtown. Service: Not as great considering it was a 5 star-hotel. When I arrived at 10pm, no doorkeeper to help you with your luggage, the front door of the hotel was even closed (but unlocked). My check-in receptionist wasn't the friendliest, no welcome greeting, hard to smile, but got his job done well eg explained abt check out timing, bfast timing, wifi etc. But could use more welcoming energy as a frontdesk. No room service - no one helped you with your luggage. If you order grab, you have to pick it up at the lobby yourself, despite booking a Club room. Club lounge was okay. Didn't feel exclusive and no one checked the guests that come in and out. Rooms: ALOT of the amneties were broken. The switch of the hairdryer was broken. The switch of the bathroom curtain was non functional. You have to pull using the string manually. The sliding door of the bathroom could not stay shut. It kept sliding open buy itself. The bed and pillows were great. The view was amazing. Location: It's abt 10mins walk to Patpong Night Market. And quite in the middle between Sala Daeng BTS and Chong Nonsi. Quite a bit of a walk. Rooftop pool was good. Breakfast: Out of the 3 night-stay, I only went once. It was very mediocre. Alot of pork items and not much options. All in all, an okay experience for a 5 star-stay for the 7th time I've been to Bangkok.

Ill start off with this hotel's location, which is extremely strategic. Its located 15mins walk to Samyan Metro, and 10 mins walk from SalaDeng BTS station. Its also just 5 minute walk from Patpong night market. There room was a little old school, but it had everything I needed. Cold air cond, kettle, tea & coffee. If I had to be picky, there was some issues with the hot water or pressure. The staff are outstanding, friendly & hardworking. They greeted us every time we returned or left the hotel.

The hotel room was spacious, but the amenities were quite basic. The staff were very friendly and I didn't encounter any of the issues mentioned in other negative reviews. The location is excellent, right in Silom near Patpong, so it's just a short walk if you're looking to visit bars. However, the Wi-Fi can be unreliable if there are a lot of guests. There's a fridge but no hairdryer. While the front desk does lend them out, they have a limited supply. Even if you do get one, it's not very useful as I found there were no power outlets in the bathroom, and no mirrors elsewhere. Overall, it's decent for the price, which is quite affordable.

Best location in my opinion, will def consider to stay here next time. Receptionists are very kind and friendly, got elevators, got room for family, pretty close by to 7/11, samyan mall, and a big temple. Got cafe downstairs as well. Top tier location in my opinion, really close to the city center. However bathroom is a bit small (not a problem for me) might be a bit inconvenient for wheelchair user.

Another repeated stay because of its ideal location where it is close to the MRT (along the blue line where we enjoy visiting the historic precincts served by the line) and Samyan Mitrtown (especially when we need to shop for last minute Thai snacks at Big C and After You) . Also, our fave eateries like T spoon and Chula 50 are close by. The hotel staff is warm and welcoming. The male housekeeper is very thorough and ensures our room is tidied by the time we had our breakfast. Room was cozy and it’s nice they provide capsule coffee, instant cup noodles and soft drinks within the room. Will be back again.

CCK97My wife and I recently celebrated our 21st wedding anniversary with a 3-night stay at the Grand Hyatt Erawan Hotel and it was an unforgettable experience. Although not so modern, our room was luxurious and well maintained, providing all the comforts and amenities we needed. We especially looked forward to breakfast each morning, eager to enjoy the chef’s special of the day, which never disappointed and added a delightful start to our day. During our stay, we appreciated the convenient location near all the shopping malls and attractions. Overall, our experience at the Grand Hyatt Erawan was wonderful except for an evening where the shower area and all the taps only has hot water regardless turning on the cold or hot water tap. The technician team was quick in resolving the issue about 15-20 mins later. It made our 21st wedding anniversary extra special, and we will still come back for more anniversary celebrations. Highly recommended for couples or anyone seeking a luxurious getaway.

GGuest UserThe hotel has a very beautiful lobby and setting. The doormen are active and have positive attitude. It is just opposite the Patpong Night Market and is very convenient for everything. However, from my experience, sorry to say it is not a 5 stars hotel. The entrance of the hotel to check in area has 2 levels of mezzanine with steps. However there have no ramp for trolley luggage. Beware of that. I stayed at 7th floor and facing the road. Room is very basic and decent. But the sound proof is bad, very noisy during the night. Always woke up by noises from different rooms, moving tables or something. Can hear the next room switching on and off the light switches during the sleep. There have no indication on the switch to let users know which is the area for it. So we just have to press different switches on and off to see. Corridors are in very low light and old. Gym is clean and decent sizes. Machines are well maintained and not many types of weight lifting. Only 1 unisex toilet in the gym. Swimming pool is very small as for 5 stars hotel....always packed with people trying to get sun bath. No sauna nor steam facilities. Dont even know if there have shower or changing room around as no indication. There don't even have indication in the lift to show which floor for the pool and gym. Breakfast is very basic and the highlight will be the chichen wing noodle but is not served daily. Big table and dining area. You have to ask for pot of tea if you want tea for breakfast.

CCurt 常鹰We saved this hotel until last – slightly fancier than the other 3 in our time in Thailand – as a little final night trip, and unfortunately, it was the most disappointing of the lot. The price, by global standards, might not be eye-watering. But by Thailand prices, it was certainly higher end, at over 800rmb per night with a ~450 (2000bht) deposit upon arrival. It did not meet those standards, I'm afraid to say. First things first, it should be said that it is fairly easy to get to on the MTR system, just a very short walk from Hwai Khwang, though it should be pointed out that when using Trip to find the location of Google Maps, I was given the wrong spot (further down the road, so actually a nice surprise to see it was closer, and I wont hold this against the hotel as it is likely nothing to do with them.) Serve at check-in was good, bags carried up the stairs for us and taken to the room with the porter stood waiting as we arrived. Check-in staff were as friendly as one would expect at a Marriott-run hotel of this quality, & though I was slightly surprised by the price of the deposit it was ultimately fine. We had booked a deluxe room with a double bed, and were told that since there was none available (?), we'd be upgraded to a Premier. Looking at the app since, I'm struggling to see where they differ. The decor in the Premier is perhaps a bit more modern, but they are the same size with the same bathroom (more on that later), and the lower price-point is on a much higher floor (ergo better view, I'd assume). In truth, had I paid for a Premier & been greeted with our room, I'd have been even more disappointed. The room was fine, but I'm not sure much more than that. A decent size, though by no means surprisingly big. It was at least quite airy, and the bed pretty comfortable, though seriously lacking in plug sockets. I find it rare to see a hotel these days without plug sockets on both sides of the bed, especially a hotel at this price point. It meant that only one phone could be charged nearby, the other on the table on the other side of the room. The bathroom, though, was really, really disappointing (& that's putting it lightly). The bathtub might have been a nice touch, had it not quite clearly had dried on blood stains in it. I've never experienced this in any hotel I've ever stayed at, no matter how cheap. Let alone at one double the price of anywhere else we stayed in Bangkok and Thailand! The sink, too, was clearly scratched up dirty, with two clear globs of dried on mucus. No face washing in there for us. Fortunate perhaps, given the number of towels provided too was pretty light. The bin in the bathroom also came with no bin bag. I'd hope that the inside is therefore cleaned regularly, but given what we'd seen before, I wasn't filled with hope. Elswhere, breakfast was generally of expected quality. Nothing to write home about per se, but a very nice dining area and good service in fairness. The coffee was decent, though again by no means hugely memorable. The swimming pool is a highlight, offering great views across the city (indeed, the view from our room was quite nice too – though can't help thinking it would be better from a higher floor, like in the cheaper rooms!), with ample comfy beds and free towels. It might be a bit small in peak season, but there were only 3 other groups sharing with us, so plenty of space for a swim. We also enjoyed the massage (850bht). The price was not included in the room fee, but I thought 850 seemed a decent price for the quality and the convenience. Each of these things could be the most memorable part of the trip, were we not greeted by the dirtiest bathroom I've ever experienced in a hotel. & that's a real pity, because it was so avoidable too! Especially from a Marriott hotel, I'd really expect better.

GGuest UserPros: The hygiene is excellent. The common areas are right by the Chao Phraya River, and it's fantastic to enjoy a drink while watching the river at night. The staff are very enthusiastic. The bed space is ample, with two power outlets and a small locker with a combination lock. There's also a large storage cabinet in the room that opens with your room card. Cons: The only way to get into the hostel is through a fish market, which has a very strong, fishy smell, though it's bearable. Being close to the river means there are quite a few insects, which is understandable. The toilets don't have air conditioning, so it gets extremely hot when using them. The air conditioning in the rooms is turned off daily from 11 AM to 3 PM, which isn't very friendly for guests who want to rest in bed. Everyone's shoes are piled up on the second floor, and some of them are incredibly smelly, like biohazards. I hope the hotel can improve management and ensure everyone puts their shoes in a shoe cabinet!

GGushenSKYThe hotel is a bit old and the decor is quite dated. They upgraded me to a suite, but the bed was still on the small side. This area seems to be a gathering place for Chinese people, probably around 70% Chinese guests. The breakfast selection was decent, and it's very close to Asiatique The Riverfront, about a 700-meter walk. I found a massage place nearby that offered foot massages for possibly the lowest price in Bangkok, 150B an hour. Overall, the hotel felt just okay.

GGarreth HuntBangkok was the last stop on our trip to Thailand and we booked this hotel as a treat to end our trip given it's 5 star status. We were left very disappointed... The lobby is lovely and is indicative of a high end hotel but that's where it ended unfortunately. The rooms are 3 star at best. We had booked a room with a balcony specifically but the initial room we were given didn't have one. The staff were very helpful and moved us to another room with a balcony, however the balcony was surrounded by fans so we had limited views. We were offered another room on our second day with a better balcony but the room itself was smaller so we opted to stay where we were. From what we could see, none of the balconies are great so I would avoid paying the extra for rooms with them. The pool is cold and in need of some work, the grout is coming away in many areas creating sharp edges in spots. Also not 5 star quality. Breakfast was the nicest setup and offering we had seen in Thailand.

EExpat EDventuresWe had a very pleasant stay at Somerset Sukhumvit 71 Bangkok. Check-in was easy and smooth with welcome infused water, and the on-site café was excellent, with delicious breakfast pastries. The beds were firm and clean, the room was comfortable, and housekeeping did a great job cleaning and making our beds daily. We also appreciated that both of our rooms were booked next to each other, which made travelling as a family much easier. Our fourteen-year-old’s bed was already made up upon arrival, which was a thoughtful touch. John, the concierge, was outstanding. He managed to book a same-day bike tour for our family of six and also kindly arranged our airport transfer. His service truly stood out and made our stay even better. Our only disappointment was New Year’s Eve. We had planned to ring in the new year at the rooftop venue, but it was fully booked. I had messaged the hotel in advance through the Trip app but didn’t receive a response. Instead, we followed a restaurant recommendation from the front desk, only to arrive 56 minutes before closing and be told the kitchen was already closed. Two other nearby restaurants were also closed, so we ended up grabbing snacks from the 7-Eleven across the street. The hotel kindly unlocked our balcony so we could at least watch the fireworks from our room. The rooftop restaurant is beautiful, and the pool area is also very nice, although the water was quite cold, so we didn’t swim. The location is a bit far out, but overall, we enjoyed our stay so much that we extended it and booked a third night. A great hotel with excellent service, especially from the concierge, and we would happily stay again.
