The biggest pros of this hotel are its good location and affordable price. It's about a 10-minute walk to the Grand Palace and a 15-minute walk to the pier for the express boat, which you can take to cruise along the Chao Phraya River. The National Museum is right across the street, and there's a 7-Eleven next door. We even bought some ready-to-eat meals there after arriving from the airport. The hotel also has a Chinese restaurant, and the breakfast was decent. However, the downside is that it hasn't been renovated in a long time, so the facilities are quite old. The internet, TV, phone, and air conditioning didn't work very well. There's an airport bus stop right in front of the hotel, but we took the Airport Rail Link when we arrived and then a taxi from the terminal. Attractions like Wat Arun, ICONSIAM, and Chinatown are all relatively close by.

Staying at Ralph Hostel as a solo traveler in Bangkok was an excellent experience. The hostel has a friendly, relaxed atmosphere that makes it very easy to meet other travelers while still feeling comfortable and safe. The staff were welcoming, helpful, and always happy to give local tips or recommendations. The rooms and common areas were clean, well-maintained, and thoughtfully designed for travelers. lockers felt secure, and the overall vibe was social without being noisy. The location was also very convenient, with easy access to public transportation, street food, cafés, and nearby attractions. One of the highlights was the rooftop garden, which offers absolutely amazing views of the nearby palaces. Watching the sunset and seeing the palace rooftops light up in the evening was truly special and made the stay even more memorable. Ralph Hostel is a fantastic choice for solo travelers looking for great value, comfort, and a unique Bangkok experience. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it.

Comfortable stay. Friendly staff and clean room. Large and comfortable king bed. At one point the water shut off, but then it came back on quickly (within a few minutes). Water pressure occasionally varied but no issue overall. Similarly no issue with smell of bathroom. If someone is extremely sensitive to smell then perhaps it could be bothersome but hostel has taken necessary measures (air fresheners) to address this. Found the hostel’s local food guide incredibly helpful. Would stay again!

We traveled with a young child and picked this hotel as we wished to visit the surrounding temples. The staff gave us a warm welcome, assisted with the luggage storage and helped booking a taxi to reach the airport. They also gave us good recommendations regarding the area. It was a great experience that we will remember. Thank you.

The room was very clean, and the service was excellent. The only minor point is that the room wasn't very spacious. We enjoyed the Western food at the rooftop restaurant, which offered fantastic views of the Chao Phraya River and Wat Arun. It's also conveniently located not far from the Grand Palace. I would definitely stay here again next time.

The room is clean, enough for one person, and the bathroom is big, but please note that it is semi-self-service, and the sound insulation between the rooms is not that good. There are supermarkets, small night markets and blue line subways outside, and you can take the blue line to other places very conveniently.

This hotel was only decided on a few days before the trip. After reading the reviews, we found it acceptable — good hotel, delicious food Upon arriving at the hotel entrance, it was a bit of a shock. The entrance looked like a 2-star hotel. Then we discovered there was no elevator, just one bar and one restaurant. The only upside was that our favorite massage place was only a 2-minute walk away. 😁 Once we got into the room, it was actually quite acceptable. The view outside the window was of Wat Pho (Temple of the Reclining Buddha). In the evening, we went up to the rooftop to enjoy the view — you could see Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn) at a glance. The breeze was cool and refreshing; it really lifted our spirits. Every dish at dinner was 👍 — the colors were appealing, the taste was delicious. This restaurant is truly worth recommending. Even the breakfast was surprisingly good. The food at this hotel is definitely up to standard. At sunset, Wat Arun lit up beautifully, making it a perfect photo spot. For travelers who have been to Bangkok countless times, this is truly a great place to slow down and relax.

Both the room interior and exterior were very clean and comfortable. However, it was disappointing that even with the cleaning sign hung in the double room, only one towel was provided each time. Everything else was perfect. The weak shower water pressure and the fact the showerhead couldn't be removed were slightly inconvenient. Also, the bathtub's shape, which traps water, was unhygienic. The lunch buffet offered a wide variety of dishes, and the taste was Michelin-level. If only the location were closer to the subway, I would definitely come again.

This hotel offers good value for money, especially considering its Chinatown location. It was a bit tricky to find, but I eventually managed. It's located to the right when you're heading into Chinatown, down an alleyway next to an old lady selling bananas. Right at the entrance of the alley, there's a shop selling large ceramic items. The hotel room has a small kitchen, which is great for buying groceries and cooking. While the room isn't huge, it has all the essentials. I'd definitely book again if I need a place to stay.

GGuest UserPros: The hygiene is excellent. The common areas are right by the Chao Phraya River, and it's fantastic to enjoy a drink while watching the river at night. The staff are very enthusiastic. The bed space is ample, with two power outlets and a small locker with a combination lock. There's also a large storage cabinet in the room that opens with your room card. Cons: The only way to get into the hostel is through a fish market, which has a very strong, fishy smell, though it's bearable. Being close to the river means there are quite a few insects, which is understandable. The toilets don't have air conditioning, so it gets extremely hot when using them. The air conditioning in the rooms is turned off daily from 11 AM to 3 PM, which isn't very friendly for guests who want to rest in bed. Everyone's shoes are piled up on the second floor, and some of them are incredibly smelly, like biohazards. I hope the hotel can improve management and ensure everyone puts their shoes in a shoe cabinet!

CCurt 常鹰We saved this hotel until last – slightly fancier than the other 3 in our time in Thailand – as a little final night trip, and unfortunately, it was the most disappointing of the lot. The price, by global standards, might not be eye-watering. But by Thailand prices, it was certainly higher end, at over 800rmb per night with a ~450 (2000bht) deposit upon arrival. It did not meet those standards, I'm afraid to say. First things first, it should be said that it is fairly easy to get to on the MTR system, just a very short walk from Hwai Khwang, though it should be pointed out that when using Trip to find the location of Google Maps, I was given the wrong spot (further down the road, so actually a nice surprise to see it was closer, and I wont hold this against the hotel as it is likely nothing to do with them.) Serve at check-in was good, bags carried up the stairs for us and taken to the room with the porter stood waiting as we arrived. Check-in staff were as friendly as one would expect at a Marriott-run hotel of this quality, & though I was slightly surprised by the price of the deposit it was ultimately fine. We had booked a deluxe room with a double bed, and were told that since there was none available (?), we'd be upgraded to a Premier. Looking at the app since, I'm struggling to see where they differ. The decor in the Premier is perhaps a bit more modern, but they are the same size with the same bathroom (more on that later), and the lower price-point is on a much higher floor (ergo better view, I'd assume). In truth, had I paid for a Premier & been greeted with our room, I'd have been even more disappointed. The room was fine, but I'm not sure much more than that. A decent size, though by no means surprisingly big. It was at least quite airy, and the bed pretty comfortable, though seriously lacking in plug sockets. I find it rare to see a hotel these days without plug sockets on both sides of the bed, especially a hotel at this price point. It meant that only one phone could be charged nearby, the other on the table on the other side of the room. The bathroom, though, was really, really disappointing (& that's putting it lightly). The bathtub might have been a nice touch, had it not quite clearly had dried on blood stains in it. I've never experienced this in any hotel I've ever stayed at, no matter how cheap. Let alone at one double the price of anywhere else we stayed in Bangkok and Thailand! The sink, too, was clearly scratched up dirty, with two clear globs of dried on mucus. No face washing in there for us. Fortunate perhaps, given the number of towels provided too was pretty light. The bin in the bathroom also came with no bin bag. I'd hope that the inside is therefore cleaned regularly, but given what we'd seen before, I wasn't filled with hope. Elswhere, breakfast was generally of expected quality. Nothing to write home about per se, but a very nice dining area and good service in fairness. The coffee was decent, though again by no means hugely memorable. The swimming pool is a highlight, offering great views across the city (indeed, the view from our room was quite nice too – though can't help thinking it would be better from a higher floor, like in the cheaper rooms!), with ample comfy beds and free towels. It might be a bit small in peak season, but there were only 3 other groups sharing with us, so plenty of space for a swim. We also enjoyed the massage (850bht). The price was not included in the room fee, but I thought 850 seemed a decent price for the quality and the convenience. Each of these things could be the most memorable part of the trip, were we not greeted by the dirtiest bathroom I've ever experienced in a hotel. & that's a real pity, because it was so avoidable too! Especially from a Marriott hotel, I'd really expect better.

GGushenSKYThe hotel is a bit old and the decor is quite dated. They upgraded me to a suite, but the bed was still on the small side. This area seems to be a gathering place for Chinese people, probably around 70% Chinese guests. The breakfast selection was decent, and it's very close to Asiatique The Riverfront, about a 700-meter walk. I found a massage place nearby that offered foot massages for possibly the lowest price in Bangkok, 150B an hour. Overall, the hotel felt just okay.

GGarreth HuntBangkok was the last stop on our trip to Thailand and we booked this hotel as a treat to end our trip given it's 5 star status. We were left very disappointed... The lobby is lovely and is indicative of a high end hotel but that's where it ended unfortunately. The rooms are 3 star at best. We had booked a room with a balcony specifically but the initial room we were given didn't have one. The staff were very helpful and moved us to another room with a balcony, however the balcony was surrounded by fans so we had limited views. We were offered another room on our second day with a better balcony but the room itself was smaller so we opted to stay where we were. From what we could see, none of the balconies are great so I would avoid paying the extra for rooms with them. The pool is cold and in need of some work, the grout is coming away in many areas creating sharp edges in spots. Also not 5 star quality. Breakfast was the nicest setup and offering we had seen in Thailand.

EExpat EDventuresWe had a very pleasant stay at Somerset Sukhumvit 71 Bangkok. Check-in was easy and smooth with welcome infused water, and the on-site café was excellent, with delicious breakfast pastries. The beds were firm and clean, the room was comfortable, and housekeeping did a great job cleaning and making our beds daily. We also appreciated that both of our rooms were booked next to each other, which made travelling as a family much easier. Our fourteen-year-old’s bed was already made up upon arrival, which was a thoughtful touch. John, the concierge, was outstanding. He managed to book a same-day bike tour for our family of six and also kindly arranged our airport transfer. His service truly stood out and made our stay even better. Our only disappointment was New Year’s Eve. We had planned to ring in the new year at the rooftop venue, but it was fully booked. I had messaged the hotel in advance through the Trip app but didn’t receive a response. Instead, we followed a restaurant recommendation from the front desk, only to arrive 56 minutes before closing and be told the kitchen was already closed. Two other nearby restaurants were also closed, so we ended up grabbing snacks from the 7-Eleven across the street. The hotel kindly unlocked our balcony so we could at least watch the fireworks from our room. The rooftop restaurant is beautiful, and the pool area is also very nice, although the water was quite cold, so we didn’t swim. The location is a bit far out, but overall, we enjoyed our stay so much that we extended it and booked a third night. A great hotel with excellent service, especially from the concierge, and we would happily stay again.

Pp.oh95With all the discounts you can get from Trip, the cheap price for booking a room in this hotel is really expected; you are staying in what you paid for. The rooms are satisfactory. If you spend most of the time out the entire day, it already genuinely fulfils your needs for sleeping and showering. Let's go through negatives first. While they clean rooms everyday, there are still cobwebs in the corners of the room and permanent stains on some walls and tiles. The worst experience was when we decided to use the electric kettle to boil water in but there was some stains inside that had already crusted since who knows when. When we wanted to use the microwave as an alternative, there was mold all over the inside. We wouldn't have known of this if ever we didn't opt using either one. It is also pretty shabby and old, and not that well-maintained. We stayed in four room types total and three beds were creaking at each slight movement, as if it were one movement away from breaking. True enough, one of the beds broke when one of us sat down. Also, in one room, there was some sort of leak seeping from the tiles and we don't know where it's coming from. For those who have sensitive skin like me, their beds kinda made me itchy but tolerable. However, those with dust allergies or rhinitis like me, be warned because some of the rooms got my nose to get stuffy. Also, the ground hall wherein the elevator is located smelled like **** so it was difficult for us who didn't smoke or like the smell of it to tolerate each time we entered the ground hall. Despite all these issues, they really make it a point to clean bare minimum so I'll give them points for that. I think this hotel is a better option for solo or pair travelers. For the good points, let's start with it being in an AMAZING location! Just 10-15 mins walk away from Silom MRT and 5 mins walk away from Chong Nonsi BTS, making it very accessible. Many places to buy food and drinks from around the area, too. And the most important thing to point out is the kindness of their staff. Honestly, there was a glitch in their system wherein I was booked the wrong room type. I was worried about the language barrier with this issue, but with a little negotiation and patience, the caretaker and I were able to settle on an alternative. Luckily, they still had rooms available, so I was able to get three different rooms before moving into the 3BR suite two days later. The staff owned up to the mistake and were thankful that we were able to settle on something. The entire time, they were so accommodating, and because of the mishap of our booking, they were extra friendly with us. I think the entire first three days (until we moved to the new room), the caretaker kept apologizing for the mishap. The staff were really great. They always greeted and engaged in a friendly conversation whenever possible. Remember the broken bed? They fixed it immediately! So I truly appreciated it. Also after check out, they allowed us to use our room for some more minutes past check-out time to use the bathroom when one of my company needed to use it again before leaving. Overall, the stay was satisfactory. Really, if you just needed a place to sleep and shower, this is good enough. Location is really the best feature of this place. Go for it for easy access to MRT, BTS, Convent Rd, and Silom. Would really recommend if you're not too picky with interior or amenities. My recommendation to the hotel, though, is making sure all the equipments in the rooms are clean like the microwave, cabinets, or even the shower drain. Also please check and maintain all the furnishing so that bandaid solutions won't be done too often. Thank you so much for the stay and I really appreciate your service during my entire stay! 🙏🏻
