Choosing this hotel was absolutely the right decision! The scenery is picturesque; waking up to views of mountains and rivers instantly lifted my spirits. The front desk staff were all so nice, they even upgraded our room and arranged transportation for us to nearby restaurants. The hotel offers delicious afternoon tea and a lovely 'goodnight dessert' every day. While sitting in the lobby, the staff would proactively offer drinks – whether it was coffee, tea, or juice, everything was great. I honestly didn't want to leave the hotel! The swimming pool is also very clean. I'll definitely stay here again next time I visit Yangshuo!

I found this to be an exceptional hotel and thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of my stay. The staff went above and beyond to ensure I had everything I needed, helping me book local experiences at discounted rates exclusive to hotel guests and providing a range of complimentary activities, including afternoon tea, an evening sweet treat, a singing bowl session, and a craft-making workshop. Breakfast was included, and I also enjoyed dinner at the hotel, which was excellent. As a vegan, it is not always easy to find good dining options in China, but the hotel was able to provide delicious vegan meals, which I greatly appreciated. Communication was handled through WeChat, with regular updates and helpful reminders from the staff. Because everything was managed through the app, the language barrier was never an issue, even though most of the staff did not speak English. I also enjoyed spending time in the outdoor swimming pool, and there was plenty to see and do in the surrounding area. It was a wonderfully relaxing break, and I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Service: I communicated with the hotel in advance that my partner and I would be staying, and we were pleasantly surprised to find our room simply decorated with a complimentary small cake! All hotel services are handled via a WeChat group. Upon check-in, they send breakfast and drink menus. The butler was very responsive to messages in the WeChat group, but the complimentary bicycle rental was never mentioned. Dining: Breakfast is à la carte, and the presentation is exquisite. However, the taste was just so-so. The beef brisket noodle soup had very hard noodles, and the Spanish omelet was quite greasy. The biggest issue was that some breakfast dishes took an excessively long time to be served. The afternoon tea offers some paid snacks that tasted good. We also set aside one evening to dine at the hotel. The crispy farm duck and stir-fried cured meat with fresh bamboo shoots were delicious, but I wouldn't recommend the black pepper short ribs! The late-night snack also included two soups (one sweet, one savory) and a fruit platter. Cleanliness: On our first night, while getting ready, we found a long hair that didn't belong to us on the showerhead. For a hotel in this price range, that's really unacceptable, and I hope they pay more attention to this in the future!

This hotel in Yangshuo was absolutely fantastic! Before we even stepped inside, a staff member warmly greeted us and helped with our luggage. They also gave us a great rundown of all the fun and photogenic spots around the hotel. 😄 The bedding and amenities were top-notch. They had a Bose speaker and a Dyson hairdryer, and the room even had a bathtub for a relaxing soak 🛁. As soon as we entered, we saw fresh seasonal fruit thoughtfully prepared by the staff. For anyone like me who’s too lazy to go out for food, I highly recommend the hotel's own restaurant. The Beer Fish was incredibly delicious, and the Yangshuo-style Oil Tea Chicken is definitely worth trying too! 👍

What a fantastic summer escape I've found! It's completely surrounded by stunning mountain views. The room has a modern Chinese aesthetic and is very spacious. Sitting on the balcony, enjoying the scenery, felt so poetic. The service was also excellent. Plus, there's an amazing rooftop infinity pool with unobstructed mountain views – absolutely breathtaking! If you brought some modern Chinese-style dresses, you could probably take a hundred pictures here. You can even go fishing right next to the hotel. Truly a wonderful experience!

The floor-to-ceiling window in the room offered an absolutely stunning view. Opening the window revealed the green mountains and the Yulong River, making for incredible photos. I specifically chose this hotel for the window view and the swimming pool, and my child absolutely loved it upon arrival. **Environment:** A thousand square meters of lawn plus an infinity pool. The mountain-and-water themed blue pool was perfect for amazing pictures. **Activities:** Free-roaming deer, daily cormorant fishing performances, lacquer fan making, and petting zoo feeding. **Food & Stay:** With its own restaurant, we spent the whole day at the hotel and didn't bother eating out. The hotel food was also excellent, and they even offered free sweet soup in the evening. It was a welcome escape from the noise of crowded guesthouses. The hotel buildings were well-equipped, and the soft furnishings, with their wooden and Instagrammable style, were top-notch. There was no need to rush. We spent the whole day leisurely, relaxing on the lawn, playing in the pool, and feeding the deer. It felt like many hotels and cafes in Yangshuo have great aesthetics, and the scenery is beautiful, but the street aesthetics are truly dismal. This was my child's first travel photoshoot. Usually, they refuse to be photographed, but the Miao ethnic costumes for the photoshoot at the hotel were beautiful and relatively clean, so we were able to get some great shots right there. Thumbs up! The shoot was quick, which was great since it was hot, allowing us to quickly get our photos and head back to the hotel for coffee.

The hotel facilities are brand new, and the surrounding scenery is absolutely stunning. The staff are friendly, and while the breakfast selection isn't huge, the food is all tasty and filling. There are even late-night noodles! The rooftop terrace offers breathtaking views. On the ground floor, there's a pool and kids' play area, so you can easily spend the whole day here just relaxing without needing to go out. When it's not too sunny, you can snap amazing photos effortlessly. There's a small gate near the pet park; turn right when you exit, and you'll find a path lined with lotus flowers. But don't look around too much right after you step out; walk about twenty or thirty meters first. There's something you shouldn't see, so remember that, remember that, remember that, remember that!

Sugar House was one of the highlights of our trip to China. From the moment we arrived, we knew we had chosen somewhere special. The hotel is beautifully designed, blending contemporary luxury with its historic surroundings in a way that feels both unique and peaceful. Our room was spacious, stylish and extremely comfortable, with stunning views over the karst landscape. It was the perfect place to unwind after a day exploring Yangshuo. The food was outstanding throughout our stay. Breakfast offered a great selection of both Chinese and Western options, and every meal we had at the hotel restaurant was beautifully prepared using excellent local ingredients. Everything was consistently excellent and a real highlight of our stay. What really elevated our experience, however, was the exceptional service. Every member of staff was warm, welcoming and genuinely eager to help. They assisted us in arranging transport and offered excellent recommendations for exploring the surrounding area, making everything effortless. The location was perfect for us—peaceful and secluded, yet within easy reach of Yangshuo’s incredible scenery. We spent the day rafting on the Yulong River, visiting Fuli Bridge, Moon Hill and Xingping, before returning to relax by the beautiful riverside pool each evening. It was the ideal balance of adventure and tranquillity. Sugar House is much more than a luxury hotel; it is a destination in its own right. We left wishing we had booked an extra night and would not hesitate to return. It is a truly exceptional place that we will remember for a very long time.

Poised in mountains and waters, nestled in clouds – an exceptional stay at Jiyun Shangyuan Resort Hotel by the Yulong River. First things first: More than just accommodation, it's a destination. Yangshuo boasts countless hotels, but Jiyun Shangyuan is an utterly underrated 'heavenly guesthouse'. This stay offered a complete cure for the senses – visual, taste, and soul. It’s truly a perfect hotel with no flaws! Reason for a perfect score one: Divine views that 'frame' the karst landscape into your room. The hotel is located in the heart of the Ten-Mile Gallery, far from the hustle and bustle of West Street, enjoying its own tranquil space. Our room featured a floor-to-ceiling glass window spanning an entire wall. Honestly, photos don't capture even a tenth of its beauty! The misty green hills of the Yulong River unfold before you like a dynamic IMAX movie. It truly lives up to 'open the window to a view, sleep under the moon, and wake with the sunrise'. Lying in bed gazing at the mountains and waters, or watching stars from the balcony bathtub – this ultimate sense of relaxation is something no other scenic spot along the Li River can offer. Reason for a perfect score two: Heartfelt service that treats guests like 'family'. The service here could easily be a textbook example for the industry. If 10 is a perfect score, I'd give it 100 points. From the butler's proactive contact after booking to the warm reception upon arrival, the entire process was smiling and efficient. When the Li River was flooding, the butler constantly reminded us to be safe. When our child wanted local fruit, the butler thoughtfully provided some. After playing in the water, our clothes got wet, and there's a self-service laundry room. We even forgot our clothes in the laundry, and the butler kindly delivered them to our room. This feeling of 'everything is handled, every need is met' is truly more touching than the standardized service of a five-star hotel. Reason for a perfect score three: Culinary delights and high-end amenities. Regarding dining, the Chinese breakfast offered authentic Guilin rice noodles, while the Western breakfast perfectly blended with Lipu taro and pumpkin. The afternoon tea was exquisite, and the coffee at Cloud Restaurant was top-notch, with the Basque cheesecake being unforgettable. The lighting in the restaurant also helps for great photos. In terms of amenities, the hotel spared no expense: King Koil mattresses, Kohler sanitary ware, Dyson hairdryers, and even a thoughtful self-service laundry room. The bedding was soft and skin-friendly, showing attention to detail. It offers the warmth of a guesthouse while maintaining five-star hotel hardware standards. Reason for a perfect score four: Immersive local cultural experiences. This place isn't just selling scenery; it's dedicated to sharing culture. The hotel is filled with Zhuang elements. Beyond beautiful decor, you can also enjoy free photo shoots in traditional Zhuang attire. Against the backdrop of the infinity pool and the mountains, every shot looks like a magazine cover. Furthermore, activities like hand-sewing embroidered balls and making oil tea kept both adults and children engaged. Families with kids don't need to worry about boredom, as the children's playground and pool are enough to tire out the little 'beasts'. Final thoughts: We'll be back. Our stay happened during heavy rain, but after the rain cleared, the scenery was even more beautiful. Regardless of the weather, Jiyun possesses a different charm. We even felt a little reluctant to leave. Just like its name suggests, there's an ethereal, otherworldly quality here, yet it's filled with the warmth of home. If you come to Yangshuo, you must 'waste' your time at Jiyun Shangyuan. Tips: · We recommend booking a panoramic room type or a family room for the best views. · Definitely try the hotel's electric bicycle rental; the Ten-Mile Gallery is right at the doorstep. · The hotel is very close to the Yulong River rafting (Shuidi section), within walking distance, which is very convenient.

We stayed at New West Street International Hotel for total of 10 nights as we accompanied our child at a nearby Chinese school in the summer. This extended time gave us the opportunity to really got to experience the hotel facilities, the food, and the service.  First the location. The actual location is about a 10 to 15 minute walk from the actual West Street. To us, the distance is actually a good thing. Food, shops, and amenities at West Street are overly tailored for tourists. The hotel location is quiet and peaceful. Nearby are many local restaurants and shops that we much preferred. In fact, we found ourselves walking away from the West Street direction to get some great local foods everyday of our stay. That said, the hotel offers an excellent shuttle service beginning at 3:30pm until late at night if that's what you are into.  Second, the hotel building itself is in excellent condition. It appears many of the facilities and rooms were recently renovated. The lobby is open and airy and makes a comfortable gathering spot for us to meet our friends before heading out. The hotel sometimes accommodates tour groups. Even when we see as many as three tour buses parked in the back, the hotel does not feel congested nor noisy. The room itself is tastefully updated with a large flat screen TV, USB-C chargers, and automated curtains. The beds were comfortable and our balcony room faced a beautiful karst mountain and a nearby pond. The room appears to have great noisy insulation. We did not hear our neighbors like we did in other Chinese hotels. Third, the place is always clean. We see staff cleaning public areas all the time, wiping down handrails, elevator buttons, countertops. etc. As for our room, the home keeper always kept it clean and orderly. We had some problems with smell the first day. A housekeeper came and troubleshoot the problem to durian smell in the mini-fridge. Not only did she wipe it down, but even without us asking, the later came back with another mini-fridge to make sure no smell was left. That really made an impression on us. Next, the staff. Everyone we encountered was always friendly and greeted us. From the cleaning staff to the front desk reception to the restaurant waiters. Everyone was friendly. We can only speak limited mandarin but the staff still talked to us best they could in English. Rachel, the manager on site, was especially friendly to make sure we got everything we needed. She understands we were staying for an extended period of time so she was always asking what can be improved for our long stay. The hotel added us to WeChat where they respond quickly to all the typical requests like room service to sending us extra water. I wish more hotels do this.  Finally, the facilities. We used the laundry room daily. There are 5 washers and 3 dryers by my count. Most of the time, I can find an empty machine to wash my laundry. Mornings are best for doing laundry. After dinner time is the busiest time. We occasionally had to take out other people's laundry that were just sitting there but it's rare. The pool is large, warm, and clean. The shallow end is perfect for kids or just wading around. The deep end is 1.7M deep so it's plenty for actual swimming. We also used the on-site travel agent to book a private transfer to the Guilin high speed station. Rachel happened to be nearby when we did this and she helped with some translation with the agent and it was very appreciated. The restaurant was large and there was always space for us to sit even when there are large tour groups. It offers mainly Chinese options but also have some Western items. Food was abundant and delicious. The Guilin rice noodles in the back is tasty and the broth is excellent. The only thing is the coffee could be a little bit better! We loved our stay at the New West Street International Hotel and would not hesitate to go back next time we visit Yangshuo.
