Chongqing Metro Operating Hours

On the Chongqing Metro, most lines have their first train around 6:30 AM each day, and last-train times vary by line—usually between 10:30 PM and 11:30 PM. Be sure to check the official Chongqing Metro schedule before you head out.

Chongqing Metro Ticket Prices

The Chongqing Metro uses a distance-based fare system, with a starting fare of 2 RMB that increases with the distance you ride. Typically, 5 RMB or less will take you across several districts of Chongqing, making it a budget-friendly way to get around.

How to Navigate the Chongqing Metro?

Getting around Chongqing by metro is efficient and affordable. As an international traveler, you have several options to pay for your fare—most of which rely on your smartphone.

  • Mobile Payments (Recommended): The most convenient way to ride is by using a digital transit code. Open Alipay or WeChat Pay, search for the "Transport" or "Metro" mini-program, and follow the prompts to activate your Chongqing Metro QR code. You can link your international Visa or Mastercard to these apps before you travel. Simply scan your QR code at the station gate to enter and exit.
  • Ticket Vending Machines: Located at every station, these machines allow you to purchase single-journey tickets using cash (Chinese Yuan) or mobile payments (Alipay/WeChat).
  • National Transportation Card (T-Union): If you prefer a physical card, you can purchase a "China T-Union" (交通联合) card at station service counters. These cards are contactless and can be used on subways, buses, and ferries in Chongqing and over 300 other cities across China. Note: Keep your passport handy when visiting the service counter to purchase or top up your card.
  • Station Service Counters: If you need help with navigation or prefer not to use digital options, visit the station service counter. Staff can assist you with route planning and the purchase of single-journey tickets or stored-value transit cards.

  • Line 6 (Pink): The Cultural & Nature Connector: A great route for exploring beyond the city center, offering access to Southwest University and the modern Lijia Smart Park.
  • Line 9 (Maroon): The Modern City & Cruise Line: Links the Shapingba area with the fashionable Guanyinqiao and the Chongqing Cruise Home Port, making it a convenient choice for river cruise passengers.
  • Line 10 (Purple): The Airport & Park Express: A vital route if you are flying into Jiangbei International Airport (all terminals). It is also the most direct line to the expansive Central Park and the historic Chongqing People's Auditorium.
  • Key Connectors (Lines 4 & 5): Use these for specific transit needs, such as reaching Chongqing West Railway Station (Line 5) or exploring the outdoor scenery at Tieshanping Forest Park (Line 4).

For my trip to Chongqing, I chose to stay at the Hilton Lianglukou, and overall, I was very satisfied with the experience. The hotel is ideally located in the heart of Yuzhong District, right next to Lianglukou Metro Station, making it incredibly convenient to get to popular spots like Jiefangbei and Hongyadong. The room was clean and tidy, and the bedding was comfortable, perfect for unwinding after a long day of sightseeing. The breakfast buffet offered a wide variety of options, and the local Chongqing noodles were authentic and delicious, creating a wonderful dining atmosphere. The hotel's facilities were excellent, with a heated swimming pool and a gym that were both fully operational, providing great opportunities for relaxation and exercise. The front desk and concierge staff were professional and attentive, making the check-in process efficient and smooth. Although it's an established five-star hotel, it's well-maintained, offering a peaceful retreat amidst the bustling city. The overall value for money is high, and I highly recommend it for anyone visiting Chongqing. I would definitely choose to stay here again on my next visit.

The conditions here are excellent. The room is very spacious and comfortable, with three windows on two sides. They provide so much complimentary bottled water that I couldn't even finish it all, and they thoughtfully placed two bottles in the fridge. The bathroom, shower, and sink are all separate, which is very convenient to use. The bedding is clean and hygienic, soft and skin-friendly. The mattress is soft and thick. Overall, the service was also very satisfying.

This hotel was the best one we stayed at during our trip back to China. Angelina at the front desk was absolutely amazing! 👍👍 She was so attentive and patiently answered all our questions. She even upgraded our room when we asked. The hotel food was also super good, and the facilities were complete, clean, and beautiful. Overall, we were extremely satisfied. Even the staff outside the lobby were incredibly warm and funny. My husband, who was visiting Chongqing for the first time, absolutely loved this hotel. Plus, its location near Jiefangbei is fantastic. We'll definitely come back here on our next trip to China. Highly recommend! 👍👍👍👍👍👍

Location: Situated inside Chongqing's landmark 'Grand Sail' building, directly above Raffles City and with direct metro access. Within walking distance to Chaotianmen, Hongyadong, Jiefangbei, and the pier. There are three hotels in the 'Sail' building: InterContinental Raffles City, Hotel Indigo, and Ascott. Ascott is wholly owned by CapitaLand, the developer of Raffles City, so its quality is undoubtedly top-notch. Facilities: Positioned as a serviced apartment, the public areas are compact yet comfortable and practical. The lobby offers complimentary tea and fresh flowers. A significant portion of the public space is dedicated to guests. The gym is well-equipped with at least two treadmills, ellipticals, and bikes, as well as a full set of resistance machines. There's also a yoga room with river views, comparable to a small commercial gym. It provides hot/cold water, sanitizing wipes, towels, and even headphones with sterilized covers. The swimming pool was closed during our two-day stay, so we hope to check it out next time. Below the hotel is Raffles City's urban garden, leading directly to a river-view platform – a peaceful oasis amidst the bustle. Room: We were fortunate to be upgraded to a two-bedroom suite, so spacious it was astounding. It features two bedrooms and two bathrooms, with a bathtub in the master. It includes a washer and dryer, perfect for families. The kitchen is fully equipped with a built-in microwave, oven, refrigerator, dishwasher, and range hood. A complete set of dishes and cookware is provided. The facilities are excellently maintained; the microwave and oven looked almost unused. The room offers a pillow menu and abundant storage space. Due to its unique location, Ascott's rooms offer either unbeatable river views, stunning city views, or like ours, views of both. Service: Special thanks to Miss Genny at the front desk, who was incredibly patient during our check-in, attentively asked about our needs, and efficiently arranged our room. We arrived early, intending only to store our luggage, but to our surprise, we received our room key immediately. We are very grateful. All hotel staff were exceptionally proactive, friendly, and helpful – carrying luggage, greeting us upon sight, making us feel right at home. The staff member on the ground floor was also wonderful, assisting with getting in and out of cars/moving luggage and patiently giving directions. Overall, a very satisfying stay.

The hotel's location is excellent, making it incredibly convenient to get around. Both Jiaochangkou and Linjiangmen are nearby, and you can walk to Jiefangbei, Hongyadong, and the Mountain City Trail. The front desk service was also very warm and attentive. The bedding was decent, but the facilities were a bit old; I forgot to take pictures. There are many food options downstairs, and I bought some when I saw shorter queues at the stalls that usually have long lines.

This hotel is located right across from Bayi Square and is also close to the subway. Stepping out, you're on Bayi Road Food Street, where you can find all sorts of local specialty snacks. The staff were very warm and attentive. When we arrived, they immediately offered us refreshing lemon and plum juice from the hotel's self-service, which was incredibly crisp and tasty. Housekeeping was prompt; they even helped us with laundry while we were out exploring. Food delivery riders can bring orders directly to your room. Honestly, if it's not too hot, a short walk will get you to a ton of great food options. You can easily walk to Jiefangbei and Hongyadong from here, and to get to Liziba, you can take Line 2. Across the street from the hotel, you get a great mountain view, and you can even spot the Golden Eagle. I highly recommend this place for anyone who loves food and exploring!

My stay here was quite a pleasant experience. The room was very clean with no strange odors, and the bed was just the right firmness. They even offer to change the mattress to a firmer one if needed, which is very thoughtful – I slept really well. The soundproofing was good; even though it's by a street, it was quiet at night. The front desk staff, particularly YOYO, was warm and polite. Check-in and check-out were quick, with minimal waiting. The surrounding area has convenient transportation, a shopping mall nearby, and plenty of dining options like hot pot and Sichuan restaurants. Although the hotel is a bit older, the overall environment is clean and comfortable, with a luxurious and grand design. The bathroom amenities were complete and met Marriott standards, and they were very good quality. The room had good natural light and ventilation, making for a relaxing and comfortable stay. Service was prompt and issues were resolved quickly. The location is easy to find, with two gleaming golden towers visible even from several blocks away, making travel very convenient. The room was great, and the front desk staff were incredibly warm and welcoming. They even upgraded our room for free and extended our check-out to 4 PM because our flight was delayed. They also proactively came out from behind the front desk to help us with our luggage. On our first day, we left a note in the laundry room asking them to dry our clothes and hang them back in our room because we were rushing out to explore and worried we'd be back late. To our surprise, they actually did it! Super impressed! The hotel is very close to Guanyin Bridge, and the metro station is also conveniently located. The street food BBQ across the street tasted better than the folk bar we went to later that night. I thoroughly enjoyed staying at this property.  Everyone was so nice and kind.  The service was top- notch.  The amenities were plenty and easy accessible.   A few extras that made everything worth it were the full- sized refrigerator, with freezer, the washing machine (for which they provided soap as well), dish washer, stove top, towel drier ( in the washroom) and full sized closet.  The view was so beautiful and calming as well.   Everything about this room was just so nice and exactly what I needed.     I didn’t realize how perfect the location was in relation to almost everything that I wanted to see.   When I figured that out, I just got up every day and walked to everything that I needed or wanted to see.   It was extremely close to a lot of restaurants, malls, local shops and smaller attractions.  I was less than a 10 -15 minute walk to Raffles City Shopping Center where there is a 5 story mall, Movie theatre, roof top attraction with the swing,  SKY WALK and also the river front park with amazing views.  Same distance for Hongyadong, the viewing platform, the Qiansemen Bridge- if you wanted to walk across the bridge at night- I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!  There is so much to see and experience between the hotel and these attractions.  Your days will be filled with fun and adventure.    If ever I have the opportunity to come back to the city, I will very excited to repeat this experience.
