"Sound insulation is really bad... I was a little scared to stay alone because I heard all the sounds of the next room and the doors opening. However, at breakfast, the staff were very friendly. But the sound insulation was not too good and the room key was also a key, so it was a little scary. The location is about 15 minutes walk from Minster, but it was a bit inside, so this part was a bit scary ..."

GGuest UserPerfect location for a sightseeing trip to York, with car parking. The hotel was gorgeous, beautiful room (we had blenheim suite), huge copper bath in the bedroom (bring your own bubble bath!), super comfy bed, beautifully decorated room. Reception staff lovely and very knowledgeable of local area. Lovely bar too with friendly staff, a range of boardgames available which was fun. Breakfast room had a great Churchill theme ( brilliant top/bowler hat lighting). Would definitely recommend. Thank you for a really lovely stay.

GGuest UserI've stayed at this hotel before and I will definitely be staying again. The location is ideal for me with easy access to the city centre either by walking, bus, or taxi. The rooms have always been very clean and a good size too. The buffet style breakfast is always superb and leisure facilities give you a chance to unwind in the pool, jacuzzi, sauna, and steam room.
The staff have always been pleasant, friendly, and polite.

GGuest UserThe Galtres... A perfect place to stay in York. Location is great, central, surrounded by pubs, shops, bars, restaurant, a few steps from York Minster, couple of minutes walk to the Shambles, 13 minute walk from the train station.
Our room was spotless, checking in was easy, arrived 3 hours early, but room was ready so accessed that straight away. Little bit quirky, I guess no two rooms the same, old fireplace, massive mirrors and a Wimbledon wicker basket at decor.
Breakfast was amazing, gorgeous food, great selection and waiting staff always happy to help. Didn't eat there at other times, but the restaurant always looked busy inside and out.
Two minor faults, could have squoze a small dressing table/desk into the room, and be prepared for a small amount of noise in the morning with delivery vehicles around, not a big problem though.
I would definitely visit again, and recommend anyone visiting York to look at this place as somewhere really nice to stay.

PPaulHBWe had an excellent stay at Mercure York Fairfield Hall. Without exception the staff were very pleasant and extremely helpful whilst at the same time understated. The breakfast represented excellent value with good choice and nicely prepared and presented. We had the opportunity to upgrade our room which we did, having the Honeymoon Suite as a consequence made our stay very pleasurable and comfortable. Accommodation is good but the decor in places a bit tired. Location wise it is excellent being a short distance from the Park and Ride which makes getting into York so easy and cheap.Â
Our only gripe is that there is nog a EV charge point in site though there are sondd ed at the nearby retail park.Â
All in all an excellent place to stay for a trip to York. We would be happy to return. Â

GGuest UserLocated within a golf course, the hotel boasts a tranquil, peaceful, and comfortable environment with beautiful scenery. However, it's quite far from the city center, about a 30-minute drive from York's Old Town. If you're not traveling by car, it's not the best choice for accommodation. But if you have a car, it's an excellent option as parking is free.
The hotel has two restaurants with good food, but they are very expensive and the portions are small â typical fine dining. If you don't want to spend too much on food, it's best to eat in the city before entering the hotel.

GGuest UserGot there on Saturday and checked in early. Â The hotel is located about 5 mins from town. Â Everything touristy is literally there. Â Receptionist was very friendly. Â Lift worked a treat and the staff around the hotel were polite and welcoming. Â The breakfast was great and the fa t that you choose what time slot you want makes the whole process efficient. Â We had the room on the 3rd floor and had a hatch in the roof which had a great view of the river and surrounding area. Â Area is brimming with shops and eateries you wonât have any problem with a range of cuisines. Â The hotel has a bar and does serve food daily menu - was tempted but unfortunately we went out every night for Dinner. Â Highly recommending this hotel.

GGuest UserCheck in was easy and the front desk, restaurant, and bar staff were great. The menu at the restaurant is very limited...not many healthy choices and very few starters for those who would just like small bites. There needs to be more restaurant and bar staff ! one person serving the bar and restaurant ? Not fair to staff or your guests. When we were there we were not told the restaurant was closing early because of a large tour group so my friend who joined us later was unable to order anything. The room was also quite dark so I would suggest adding more lighting. That being said, good location and clean!
