"Great hotel! Absolutely would recommend. Room was lovely and clean, hotel in a great location. Easy to walk to/from town and to the high street. Staff were lovely, great little tuck shop area to buy drinks/snacks. And air con which was a god send in the recent hot weather. I initially booked into a different hotel which was awful, found this place and booked immediately - very happy I moved!"

"It's about a 17-minute walk from the train station, which can be a bit of a trek if you have luggage. You can store your bags for free in the basement before check-in. It's an old building, so there's no elevator, but the staff kindly helped me carry my luggage upstairs when I checked in. The lack of a bed curtain was a slight inconvenience, but overall it was a good stay."

"I stayed for two nights. I stayed in one of the Sidings Double rooms and was pleased with the size, comfort and cleanliness of my room. It was a very quiet part of the hotel, and although I had a great view of the garden and station - I heard no noise at all so had a very peaceful sleep. The only slight disappointment I have, is that the hotel pool was quite tiny and was too crowded even at an off peak time, but this does not detract from the hotel and the leisure facility is really just a bonus - there is so much to see and do within the city that I had plenty to keep me occupied during my stay. York is a magical place. Would I stay here again? Absolutely. I have already booked this hotel again to bring my young son and do a spooky ghost tour in the autumn. Location-wise this hotel can’t be beaten, and the hotel staff are super helpful and friendly."

"The hotel has an excellent location and new facilities, and the breakfast is richer than other hotels. There's air conditioning, which is a plus. It's within walking distance to the train station. Since three of us were staying, there was a sofa bed in the room, which meant there wasn't enough space to lay our suitcases flat."

"The hotel is very close to the train station, about a 5-minute walk through the city walls, which is very convenient. York city isn't large, and most attractions and shopping streets are within walking distance. We booked two rooms and arrived a little after 2 PM. The front desk initially thought we only had one room and assigned us a room on the first floor, ignoring our request for a higher floor. When I told him we had booked two rooms, he then said the other room could be on a higher floor, but we couldn't get the keys until after 3 PM. So, we had to take all our luggage to the first-floor room first. As soon as we opened the door, there was a strange smell, which got a little better after turning on the air conditioning. Since we were only staying for one night, we didn't bother to discuss it further. When we returned in the evening, we picked up the keys for the second room, which was on a higher floor. The cleanliness was noticeably better than the first-floor room, and there was no strange smell. Both rooms were quite spacious, which was a plus. Breakfast was semi-buffet style; you could order one hot dish, and then help yourself to bread, fruit, and other items."

"The room description was incorrect. The room was really tight for 5 person. We booked for 1 double bed, 1 single bed & 1 bunk bed, but we get 1 double bed bunk bed & another 1 bunk bed. It's difficult for elderly to climb up the bunk, we ended up pay for another 2 single beds in a separate room. The gave us a little discount for it."

"A solid hotel, comparable to Hampton Inn hotels back home. There are two Hampton Inns in York, so when driving, it's best to enter the postcode for navigation. Don't just type the brand name. If you use the hotel name, make sure to add the location. We went to the wrong one initially and had to drive for another 5 minutes to get to the correct one. The hotel's location is excellent. About 100 meters to the left when you exit, there's a Tesco Express, which is very affordable. On the ground floor outside the hotel, there's a surprisingly open, semi-enclosed glass baggage lift that can take large luggage up to the lobby. The rooms are spacious, and the bathroom has the standard Hampton Inn setup. The room is functional, similar to its counterparts in China, though it lacks the complimentary self-service laundry facilities typically found in equivalent hotels there. Breakfast is a self-service buffet included in the room rate. It's a British-style buffet with eggs, sausages, ham, grilled tomatoes, baked beans, various breads, toaster breads, four types of stewed fruit, fresh apples. On weekends, bananas are also available. There's coffee, fresh milk, yogurt, nuts, cereals, and portable packaged fiber biscuits. My friends were very happy with the food."

"Overall, I wouldn't really recommend it. The location is okay, just outside the city walls. However, all the rooms are in the attic, requiring two flights of very narrow stairs, making it impossible to bring up even a slightly larger suitcase. The floors are uneven, and in some areas, it feels like they could easily collapse; even with a carpet, they still creak when you walk on them. What's even more frustrating is that the attic is already stuffy, and a constant instant noodle smell drifts up from the downstairs restaurant. On the night we checked in, we found one of the air conditioners wasn't working, but the front desk said the maintenance staff had already left for the day and could only provide us with a small electric fan."

"Even though it's a basement room, it offers great value for money and is only about a ten-minute walk from York Station. The front desk staff were also very welcoming. What I liked most was the room layout; the full-length mirror was very convenient, and the space felt much larger than I expected. On the second day, after checking out, I left my luggage at the hotel, which was perfect for a half-day tour of York – what a lovely city!"
