Cheap Hotels in Huzhou

"We were very disappointed with several aspects of this hotel. I’ll start with the NEGATIVES (positive will be below): According to the hotel’s description, it opened in 2020, so we expected a relatively new, modern and well-maintained property. Unfortunately, the reality was very different!!! ① The bathroom was particularly disappointing. The electrical outlets were installed at an angle, making it very difficult or sometimes impossible to plug anything in. The shower area was dirty and worn, looking more like it was 20 years old rather than six. The shower head sprayed water in different directions, including directly into your face. ② The shampoo and shower gel dispensers were poorly secured, and some did not work at all. We had to unscrew the bottles and pour the shampoo directly onto our hands. ③ The room itself was also poorly maintained. The floor had many sticky marks and stains, while the walls were heavily scuffed and damaged in several places. I understand that this is a popular hotel and naturally experiences a lot of wear and tear. However, for a property presenting itself as a five-star hotel, this level of cleanliness and maintenance is very disappointing. In its current condition, it feels much closer to an older three-star hotel. If you are considering staying here, I would strongly recommend keeping your expectations low and not relying too heavily on the promotional photos and advertising. The actual condition of the rooms was very different from what we expected based on how the hotel presents itself online. On the POSITIVE side, the beds were comfortable and the bed linen was clean and fresh, which we appreciated. We also really enjoyed the breakfast with the giraffes. If you want to get the best experience and be among the first guests, you need to start queuing from around 5:50 a.m. The giraffes are adorable and come up to each table, which made the experience very special and was definitely one of the highlights of our stay. *I will not add photos of the beds and giraffes because hotel and other guests have all of them, but I prefer to add photos with real problems."

"The hotel boasts an excellent location with convenient parking and charging facilities. Despite being next to a main road, it's very quiet at night. Both the hotel's facilities and services are top-notch. The front desk staff, concierge, and housekeeping team are all warm, polite, and professional. The accommodation is quiet and comfortable, the bedding is incredibly relaxing, and the breakfast offers a wide variety of options in a pleasant dining environment. The elevators are also very fast. Overall, I'm very satisfied."

"Just perfect! Rooms are super comfortable, Clean, good service, perfect location! The beautiful receptionist on the 5th or November 2023 was very helpful, she even helped us to order a taxi to the station and even offered to pay. Thank you so much!! Will be back for sure!"

"Facilities: The facilities are a bit old, but you can tell the materials used for the renovation back then were top-notch. The cleanliness was also good, which was acceptable for us traveling with a baby. Since our baby is quite young, we brought our own set of sheets, a summer blanket, and a pillow, but the hotel's bedding felt pretty good too. Environment: The room came with a balcony, so the view was incredible. We could see Taihu Lake in the distance. The 27th-floor buffet breakfast restaurant was huge and offered even better views. Service: It was truly too crowded during the summer holiday. The hotel was hosting a lot of guests, which felt a bit overwhelming with people everywhere. However, the convenience was great. From the hotel's underground parking, you just cross a bridge directly to the scenic spot, which was perfect for watching the fireworks and 'Dahuo' (iron flowers) at night. I had requested a quiet room when booking, and they gave us a very quiet room; it wasn't noisy at all."

"I chose this hotel for my late August trip to Nanxun. It's considered one of the more upscale options in Nanxun Ancient Town, being the private residence of Liu Chenggan, the owner of Jiayetang, whom Lu Xun once playfully called 'the foolish young master.' Such witty remarks among literati often carry a hidden admiration. Given that it's the former mansion of a descendant of the Liu family, one of Nanxun's 'Four Elephants,' the ambiance is naturally exceptional; the hotel itself is an attraction worth exploring. The location is also excellent, just north of Zhang Shiming's Former Residence and very close to Liu's Ladder House and Xiaolianzhuang, with Nanshi River right outside. It seems that the southern part of Nanxun Ancient Town generally has more wealthy mansions, while the northern part has more common people's homes. The hotel service is also very thoughtful, and the staff are very friendly. They even added me on WeChat and sent me an electronic map of the scenic area, which was very helpful for touring. Every evening, they delivered freshly brewed sweet soup. The room facilities are also great, with a fully stocked mini-bar including drinks and fruit. The most interesting feature is the room door; it seems to be the original old door, refurbished. Outside, it has a ring knocker, and inside, a wooden bolt – just like the doors in my childhood home. For an 80s-born individual with rural upbringing, it evokes a strong sense of nostalgia. And there's no need to worry about soundproofing; at least, I felt it was perfectly fine. Breakfast was also good, semi-buffet style, with freshly made wontons and lamb noodles, and other self-serve options. I believe that accommodation and dining significantly impact the overall travel experience, and this hotel certainly enhanced my two-day visit to Nanxun. It's highly recommended."

"This hotel was the perfect choice for catching a concert at the nearby Olympic Sports Center. Stepping downstairs, you're right in Wuyue Plaza, and the hotel lobby connects directly to the mall, so there's no need to worry about food, shopping, or entertainment. It's also just a 10-minute walk to the Olympic Sports Center Stadium. The only drawback was that the glass shower partition leaked into the toilet area; I recommend they fix this as soon as possible."

"This was my first time in Huzhou, and I chose this hotel. I only found out upon arrival that there are two sister hotels next door. The front desk staff upgraded our room, which was very spacious, comfortable, clean, and well-equipped. Being on a high floor, the view was great. The hotel also provided welcome fruit, and the breakfast was plentiful. They even offer a simple but excellent buffet dinner. Overall, it was a great experience, and I would definitely choose this hotel again if I return to Huzhou."

"The hotel is huge, and the rooms are spacious. The front desk staff are very welcoming, and the location is great. The lobby is grand and the environment is beautiful. "The views from this room type are absolutely incredible. You can see Taihu Lake from the bed, the balcony, and even while soaking in the bathtub. The room facilities are built with high-quality materials, clearly a significant investment back in the day, and they've been well-maintained. The shower has excellent water pressure, which, for those who know, is a huge plus. The dedicated direct drinking water tap is also a great bonus. There's a special customer service agent who adds you on WeChat in advance to register your car, allowing direct access in and out. However, the so-called butler service essentially acts as a green channel bypassing the front desk; it only covers standardized services and falls short of truly personalized service, so don't have overly high expectations. The Chinese restaurant on the third floor of the hotel offers excellent quality dishes, though it's not cheap. If you can afford it, it's a great way to experience iconic local cuisine without any unpleasant surprises. Overall, considering the price, it's a decent stay – no big surprises, but no major issues either. The biggest highlight is definitely the view, which makes it worth the price."

"My stay at the Huzhou Dongwu Kaiyuan Mingdu Hotel was absolutely perfect! The hotel boasts an excellent, central location, right in the heart of the city. Silver Plaza is just downstairs, offering a one-stop solution for dining, entertainment, and shopping. The room had an unbeatable view; through the panoramic floor-to-ceiling windows, I could admire the city's scenery by day and the dazzling night lights, which was truly exhilarating. The breakfast buffet was extensive, featuring a wide array of local specialties."
