"We went to Fukuoka for Chinese New Year, and since my husband loves hot springs, we decided to stay two nights in Yufuin. The inn's location was superb, close to Lake Kinrin, and very quiet. Just a short walk away was Yufuin main street. We booked late, so our only option was a Japanese-Western style room without a private hot spring, which was a pity and a bit disappointing for my husband. Our 'one-night, two-meals' plan was incredibly filling, featuring what seemed like kaiseki cuisine plus either wagyu barbecue or wagyu shabu-shabu. I'm not really an expert on kaiseki, but I could definitely tell the food was exquisite and fresh. Since we don't speak Japanese, the inn assigned a young, English-speaking waitress to attend to us throughout our stay, which was very thoughtful. As I mentioned, the food portions had many courses, and we were quite full by the end. When the waitress asked if we wanted rice and we replied 'just a little,' she seemed genuinely concerned, thinking perhaps we didn't like the food 😅. I wanted to tell her we were simply already full. As for the downsides, my husband found the toilet a bit far from the sink, especially in the private toilet within the bedroom. The inn also didn't offer laundry service; staff advised us to use the laundromat on the main market street if we needed to wash clothes. In the end, we decided against it and waited until we returned to Fukuoka to do our laundry at the hotel there. Also, I imagine the inn is a traditional Japanese establishment, and the staff are quite principled. We were late arriving due to unfamiliarity with the transport, so dinner was pushed back to around 7:30 PM. They seemed a little displeased but remained composed. On our way back, as our preferred train/bus tickets were sold out, we had to leave earlier. The inn was accommodating with our breakfast time. We initially asked them to reduce the portion for the child and just serve scrambled eggs, but they insisted on serving the full original portions, telling us to eat as much as we could. Their reasoning was that since we had paid, we should receive the full amount we ordered, which we respected. We simply didn't want to waste food. Overall, we were satisfied and really appreciated the Japanese culture and traditional decor in all aspects."

"The whole place was so clean and everything was as described. It is run by an older friendly couple. The room was spacious, especially compared to the rooms you get in the city. I didn’t include the breakfast for my stay, but everything seemed homemade and quaint. I used the public onsen and showers during my stay. I went there around 9-10pm and it was empty both nights (the onsen closes at 11:30pm). There is a private onsen that you can book in advance if you feel more comfortable using that. The location was right in the middle, between the train/bus station and the main shopping area, which I found very convenient. It was easy to wheel my suitcase over to the hotel from the train station."

"This beautiful Ryokan is over 100 years old with deep heritage. I like that it stay as it is as if time stood still. So full of character. I was drawn to the onsens featuring beautiful outdoor views. You'll get to enjoy indoor and outdoor onsens here.. You get to try different types of onsens as they switch around. The highlight was the mountain view, the tranquility that some accommodation lacks due to the amount of guests. Here, you see mostly adults, hence irs ideal for people looking for a quieter retreat. Finally I was absolutely blown away by the wagyu beef at each dinner buffet. The Oita beef was of good quality and there was crab legs and so many variety of seafood and Oita specialty. Breakfast did not disappoint. Love the Yufuin milk and the pudding. Service staff was very attentive too. Ideally for non driving travellers. A short walk to the station and kinrin river."

"The hostel was very nice and had a cozy charm to it. I also met some very nice people there. There is an Onsen in the hostel, and you can get a satisfying breakfast for around 800 Yen. The owner was very kind and offers evening walks (which I highly recommend) and a ride to the station in the morning. The only downside is that it's an around 30 minutes walk uphill from Floral Village, but the view from there is worth it. All in all I highly recommend it!"

"The hotel's location is quite far from the station, about a 25-minute walk. However, they do offer pick-up and drop-off service from the station, which we didn't arrange beforehand. Walking along the road for a stretch was a bit tough. On the upside, the surroundings of the hotel are very quiet. The room style is a bit old-fashioned but spacious. The evening onsen was great, I had it all to myself. Dinner was plentiful, but breakfast was just okay, though the dining environment was pleasant. The hotel service was decent, and the owner was quite understanding. However, the front desk staff wasn't very friendly; they wouldn't let us check in even ten minutes early. Eventually, the owner approved an early check-in. It's a nice touch that they offer a free shuttle service to the train station when you check out."

Nestled on a gently elevated hill—neither too close nor too far from the bustling center of Yufuin—Bisei offers a serene retreat. What first captivates guests is the panoramic view of Mount Yufu, visible from every room in all its seasonal beauty. On a clear morning, the majestic and soothing sight of Mount Yufu from the semi-open-air bath, which flows with 100% natural hot spring water, is breathtaking enough to draw a quiet sigh. Bisei’s charm lies in its exquisite cuisine crafted from seasonal ingredients, its skin-nourishing hot springs, and the sweeping natural scenery. Perhaps these are the very reasons so many guests choose to return again and again.

"The room was spacious and came with a private onsen. Perched halfway up the mountain, the views were beautiful. If you don't have a car, you can book the shuttle, but be aware that the pick-up times are infrequent. The staff were friendly. Dinner was just okay, but since it was inconvenient to go back to the city, we ended up eating almost all our meals there as part of a half-board package."

"If you're looking for an authentic and charming ryokan experience in Yufuin, Hasuwa Inn is a must. From the moment you arrive, you feel a sense of tranquility. The meals, both dinner and breakfast, were not only delicious but incredibly generous – you won't leave hungry! The private onsen bath was perfectly clean and so relaxing. What truly set this place apart was dining while watching trains gracefully pass through the beautiful mountain landscape. It was a truly perfect and memorable stay.”"

With a stay at Etavia Yufuin ekimae in Yufu (Yufuin Onsen), you'll be a 4-minute walk from Norman Rockwell Yufuin Museum and 9 minutes by foot from Yunotsubo Kaido. "I don't know if it's because I was staying alone, but the room facilities were really great! The bed was big, there was a sofa, TV, microwave, and fridge! The bathtub was also big and nice! It felt like the largest bathtub I've seen in a Japanese hotel. For this price and room condition, I would definitely stay here again. It's super convenient as it's right in front of the station. You just need to cross one crosswalk, it feels like crossing a small alley... doesn't even take a minute! The surrounding shops close early, and it's a bit far from the main street, so it was nice and quiet at night. Even the shops on the main street all close by 5 PM! However, you might be a bit surprised when you first check-in. You just need to enter the password correctly at the front of the building and go in to check-in. There's no one there, so you might feel a bit flustered. There are stairs leading to the check-in area, so if you have a lot of luggage, I recommend leaving it downstairs, checking in first, getting your room assignment, and then moving your bags! If you get a room on the first floor, you'll have to carry them back down! I heard there's an onsen on the rooftop, but I didn't go, so I don't know. Also, they don't clean the rooms! This didn't bother me much, but they only provide enough towels for one night, regardless of whether you stay for 3 or 4 nights. They tell you to wash them in the washing machine! To use the washing machine conveniently, it's best to shower quickly, start the laundry, and then do other things. Just rinsing, spinning, and drying takes about 2 hours and 30 minutes! Also, unlike a hotel, there are no C-type or USB-type outlets in the room. You definitely need to bring an adapter. It's not like hotels where the power is weak, so I was able to use my curling iron. Since it's convenient to wash towels, I would probably use this place again if I go to Yufuin."

MMinanekoThis onsen hotel exceeded my expectations – it was truly excellent! First off, every room has its own private onsen, offering complete privacy, so you can enjoy a hot spring bath anytime you like! The hotel environment is beautiful, perfect for taking photos. We were lucky enough to encounter snow, which was the icing on the cake! What's more, the room was fully equipped and impeccably clean! Since we visited in winter, it was incredibly thoughtful that there were heaters everywhere, even in the bathroom. We booked the 'one night, two meals' package, and the food was delicious! The dishes were very unique, and you could really feel the restaurant's dedication. Extremely satisfied! The staff were excellent – friendly and approachable, making me feel right at home. Regarding transportation, we originally planned to drive, but canceled our car rental due to the weather. We took the train to Yufu Eki, pre-booked the shuttle with the hotel, and arrived in about 10 minutes! Overall, this is a highly recommended gem of a hotel! I'll definitely be back!

凌凌漆Here's a review of my stay: 1. **Location and Amenities: A Quiet Corner with Easy Access** The hotel is conveniently located, about a 7 to 10-minute walk from JR Yufuin Station, making it easy to find while also being away from the busiest commercial areas. Right next door is a Lawson convenience store, and there's a supermarket nearby, which is super handy for anyone who likes to grab snacks and drinks in the evening. 2. **Hot Spring Facilities: Highly Private ”Kashikiri” Experience** This is truly the highlight of the inn! There are 5 private family hot springs (private baths), including both indoor and outdoor options. No reservations are needed; you just check if the light at the entrance is off, and if so, it's free to use. **Tech-Savvy Management:** Guests can scan a QR code with their phone to instantly check the real-time availability of each private bath, saving you a wasted trip. **A Small Tip:** If you're staying in winter, the path to the outdoor baths and some outdoor showering areas can feel quite cold. If you're sensitive to cold, I recommend prioritizing private baths #1-3, which are indoors. 3. **Dining Experience: A Hearty Yakiniku Feast** We opted for the half-board plan, and dinner was enjoyed at a partner yakiniku restaurant. The wagyu beef was excellent quality and incredibly generous in portion. There was even a bonus offer of unlimited alcoholic beverages and plum wine, making it fantastic value for money. The Japanese-style breakfast the next day was also very filling, providing a great start to our day. 4. **Unique Atmosphere: A Paradise for Animal Lovers** The inn has very gentle cats and dogs living on the premises. If you're lucky, the resident cat manager might even appear in common areas or even come by your room for a patrol. For animal-loving travelers, this sense of warmth and comfort is something other hotels simply can't replicate. 5. **Accommodation Details and Recommendations** **Room Space:** The new wing rooms are spacious, blending modern comfort with traditional Japanese aesthetics.

KKa YanA hot spring hotel with one night and two meals. It is very convenient to have a private hot spring in the room. The public bath is relatively small, but not crowded. There was no one there when I went there that morning, and I enjoyed the outdoor hot spring very comfortably. The room is in traditional Japanese style, very comfortable and hygienic. The staff does not speak English very well, but they will try their best to communicate with guests through mobile phone translation and other methods, so there is basically no problem. The food was prepared carefully, but the dinner was not to my taste, but the breakfast was a surprise. There were free popsicles, hot spring eggs and beer. The location is far from the station, 20 minutes walk, but people usually go to Yufuin to visit Yunotsubo Street. If you walk from Yunotsubo Street, it is still okay to walk there in 10 minutes. The check-out time is 12 o'clock, which is good. After breakfast in the morning, you can go back to the room and enjoy the hot spring time in the morning before leaving. Overall, it was a very satisfactory accommodation experience. I enjoyed the hot springs and will consider staying here again next time I visit Yufuin.

GGuest UserThis hotel is nestled in the mountains, featuring terraced rice fields, which makes for a very relaxing stay. The rooms are spacious and well-equipped; we chose a room type with an indoor onsen bath. The half-board (dinner and breakfast) meals were also good, and I recommend the Japanese-style breakfast. The baths include both indoor and outdoor options, and overall, everything was very comfortable. The only downside was that when we checked in at 4 PM, we were told that the shuttle service for the next day was fully booked, and we'd have to pay for a taxi ourselves (even though there were empty vehicles available). Despite this, I would still highly recommend Hoshino Resorts KAI Yufuin for an experience.
