Cheap Hotels in Yufu

"The environment here is great. Although it's a bit far, they offer shuttle service, so it's not a big issue. However, I was quite concerned about the cleanliness of the hot spring. It seemed that whenever I moved, a lot of black, white, and gray fibrous material would float up from the bottom of the pool. I even saw distinct small white feathers, possibly from birds? I understand that being in the mountains might lead to some influence from plants and animals, but there was clearly a lot settled at the bottom, suggesting it hasn't been thoroughly cleaned for a while. Many of the restaurant staff were from India or Pakistan, and most of the other guests I encountered were foreigners. The price isn't expensive, and the room is large, but the facilities are a bit old. The room's cleanliness was actually decent, it just felt a bit dated."

"Baien is truly the best. The private open-air bath and the large public bath are both excellent. (Note: Be sure to confirm the private open-air bath when booking your ryokan stay.) The ryokan is spacious, so walks around the property are lovely. Both breakfast and dinner (kaiseki) are also superb. However, there's no entertainment nearby, so if your sole purpose is to enjoy the hot springs, you definitely won't regret it. I'd love to visit again in winter."

"Although it's a little over a kilometer from the station, I highly recommend walking instead of taking a taxi, as the scenery along the way is absolutely beautiful. Cherry blossoms, streams, small bridges, distant mountains, fields, and a mix of Western and Japanese-style houses create a very soothing atmosphere. The hotel exceeded my expectations. The lobby is grand, and the front desk staff are fluent in English and provide detailed information. On the top floor (4th floor), there's an observation onsen. The rooms are purely Japanese style, clean, tidy, comfortable, spacious, fully functional, and offer expansive views of beautiful scenery. There's also a restaurant in the lobby. Many restaurants in Yufuin's Yunotsubo Street and Floral Village close by 4 PM. Personally, I find this natural, unspoiled environment much more relaxing than those famous, trendy tourist spots."

"We chose Yufuin for a ryokan trip with our kids. I can't praise the location enough! It's about a 10-minute walk from Yufuin Station, but it's right in front of Yunotsubo Street. Kinrin Lake was also a pleasant, short walk away. The ryokan was very clean, and the indoor space was spacious and comfortable. Most importantly, the staff were incredibly kind and helpful! We were so grateful. On the day we checked out, it was raining, and we had our kids with us, so we requested a taxi. They said taxis were busy and unavailable, which was a bummer. But then, a male staff member drove us to the station himself! We are so, so thankful. I was dreading the thought of pulling two suitcases and managing the kids to the station in the rain, so his kindness was truly a lifesaver. If I ever come back to Yufuin, I will definitely stay at Hinoharu Ryokan again. Thank you so much!"

"Our stay at Yufuin ”Tano-kura” was absolutely flawless. First off, the service was truly top-notch. Our dedicated staff member (SIC) was incredibly professional and attentive, taking exceptional care of us throughout our visit. What really put us at ease was their meticulous attention to confirming food allergies, which allowed us to fully enjoy the exquisite and delicious cuisine without any worries. Every interaction, from the introduction to the hotel facilities to the meal service in our room, was handled with utmost politeness and respect. The environment was impeccably clean and tidy, making for a wonderfully comfortable stay. This trip truly allowed us to relax completely; we left feeling fully recharged and revitalized. "This beautiful Ryokan is over 100 years old with deep heritage. I like that it stay as it is as if time stood still. So full of character. I was drawn to the onsens featuring beautiful outdoor views. You'll get to enjoy indoor and outdoor onsens here.. You get to try different types of onsens as they switch around. The highlight was the mountain view, the tranquility that some accommodation lacks due to the amount of guests. Here, you see mostly adults, hence irs ideal for people looking for a quieter retreat. Finally I was absolutely blown away by the wagyu beef at each dinner buffet. The Oita beef was of good quality and there was crab legs and so many variety of seafood and Oita specialty. Breakfast did not disappoint. Love the Yufuin milk and the pudding. Service staff was very attentive too. Ideally for non driving travellers. A short walk to the station and kinrin river."

"Stayed one night at Seikouen ryokan and was really impressed by their service! The staff there were all very helpful and friendly! Breakfast and dinner were great too! We enjoyed ourselves at their private onsen! Special shout out to the staff who helped us with our luggages, even offered to help us take a pic on our last day and bidded us farewell at Yufuin Station! Would definitely recommend this ryokan for your stay at Yufuin!"

"Staying at a hot spring ryokan in Yufuin with dinner and breakfast included is so convenient and hassle-free. Jukaso Hotel in Yufuin was a great choice. The traditional Japanese garden setting creates a wonderful ambiance. The location is incredibly convenient, just a 5-minute walk directly from Yufuin Station, so even with luggage, it's no trouble at all. I booked a tatami Japanese-style room. It was spacious and clean with excellent natural light. Opening the window revealed mountain views and the greenery of the garden, making it very peaceful and restorative. The amenities were complete, and the double sinks in the bathroom were a thoughtful touch. The hot springs include both indoor and open-air baths. The water quality was pleasant and clean, and it was quiet with few people in the evening. Soaking in the onsen completely relaxed me."

"We checked in on 15 Jan, 2026 and planned to stay at the hotel for a nite. When we arrived the railway station , we walked around for a while and got a taxi outside the railway station to the hotel without paying the fare. Probably the hotel had arranged with the taxi drivers in that area that they will pay the fare directly. The check-in procedure is easy and comfy. 2 staff lead us to our room 小樓球。It’s a very nice room with 2 private onsen. The spring water is nice and made our skin very smooth. The hotel had arranged enough drinks for us, 3 alcoholic and 3 nonalcoholic. We had our dinner at ard 7pm. The presentation of the good is very good & eye catching. However, the quality of the sashimi was not very fresh. Taste of the tuna was a bit fishy and it’s wet and found bloody water after picked it up from the dish😓. I don’t eat beef and the hotel changed the 5 pcs of wagu to 3pcs of eel which didn’t taste very well. Not sure whether they grill it or not. Also they changed the beef that served with rice to miso and I didn’t think it’s fair enough. The breakfast on the next morning was up to standard. Bread was fresh and hot. Egg and sausage were quite good. Overall, service is good but the standard of dinner made me disappointed as I had informed the hotel at least one week before check-in and I think they have ample of time to adjust the menu for me. I’ve been to some other hotspring hotels with same request of not eating beef. They had changed my menu to chicken, pork or seafood like fish or shrimp and provide the equivalent size of meat for replacement."
