"Raia Hotel Penang is an older property, and it shows in the room maintenance. During my stay, the curtains couldn't properly darken the room, letting in too much light. On top of that, there was loud operational noise early in the morning from the kitchen hood starting up. It made getting a good night’s rest very difficult. Needs improvement in room soundproofing and blackout curtains."

"A lil bit annoying from the toilet. Making sound like someone knocking, from the pipeline. My kids feel a lil bit terrified from that sound. Is that a common sound there? But overall, its a very satisfying accomodation. my kids enjoy with the pool. Charlie, I came across one or two Charlie ants in the toilet and sauna room."

"The room was just adequate in size... not too big, not too small... the mattress was good.. the location was superb, just next to a big shopping mall at penang island.. the location was also nearby to bayan baru, where the nasi ayam nazir (the best nasi ayam in penang, in malaysia too i think) at sunshine plaza.. The breakfast was yummy!"

"The location was good. My room has a nice view. The room is comfy and spacious. However, there are 2 things I believe the hotel could have done better: 1. Receptionists: when I checked in, the receptionists were not friendly at all. They didn’t smile with me and made me feel quite uncomfortable. I booked the room with breakfast, I believe it is a basic courtesy to confirm with the guests that the booking includes breakfast and inform the guests that what time breakfast will be serving, where it’s located (there are 1 cafe + 1 restaurant in this hotel) and how can we get in (either with breakfast tickets or just walk in and inform room number). I had to ask the receptionist several times for those information (because they weren’t able to give me all info at once). 2. The food was not good. The breakfast’s mvp are chicken sausages, prawn che chong fun and croissants. The rest are cold and tasteless. We also tried the cafe at 1st floor, the drinks were ok, they have Vietnamese chicken salad which tastes not bad but I’m sure we don’t have such thing in Vietnam at all. The worst part was the pizza, it must’ve been made from frozen dough and it was so dry, so hard to bite. Good thing is that around the area, they have a lot of restaurants and shops. If you stay there, you might want to skip the hotel food and explore around."

"Have booked last minute. The overall experience is good. Room is quite. But the corridors is a bit scary as total quite. It is a building for official space and room. Very basic facilities are provided by them but is enough for an overnight stay. Downstairs has some eating place and shop for u to buy drinks and food. The water provided are super tiny 2 bottles hence is not enough. If u are solo female and not too adventurous, u might feel unsafe. It is ok for me and I hv a good rest."

"Rating: 4/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Had a pleasant stay at AC Hotel Penang. The hotel has been nicely refurbished and feels modern and comfortable. The room was great, and I particularly enjoyed the beautiful view overlooking Bukit Jambul. The location is another strong point, with plenty of popular restaurants nearby and easy access to food and other amenities. The swimming pool was also acceptable and a nice addition to the stay. The main downside is the basement parking. There is no lift directly from the basement parking area, so you need to use the stairs, which can be quite troublesome when carrying luggage. The parking system also still relies on a physical card that needs to be validated each time before exiting, rather than a more convenient ANPR system. Overall, a comfortable and enjoyable stay with a good location, refurbished rooms and a nice view. Improving the basement access and modernising the parking system would make the experience even better."

"Everything was okay, but we got a room where the air conditioning was slow to cool down. We turned on the AC right after check-in, but it only started feeling cool when we returned to the room at 2 AM. Even then, we only felt the AC strongly when we were on the bed. The hotel staff checked the AC twice – once in the evening and once when we were out. When we came back at 2 AM, the hotel offered to switch us to another room. However, the AC in that other room also took a long time to cool, so we decided to just stay in the same room for our one-night stay."
