Best area of Tokyo- mid-century modern residential area close to Ueno Park - very quiet considering in the middle of the city-lots to see and do- the rooms are good size for Tokyo- staff were very attentive- restaurant on site- only downside was the noise from hallway and nearby rooms as the joint is not soundproof- otherwise all good in the hood

This was my first stay here, and the only real issue was that the location is a bit far from the station. The staff were very kind. The only other minor thing was that some fellow guests were a little noisy, but nothing too bothersome. As I'm sensitive to smells, I really appreciated the air purifier and the coin laundry. The complimentary coffee and donuts in the morning were delicious. I'd like to try the cafe on the first floor next time. While some reviews have lower ratings, I think it really depends on the staff and guests present at the time.

Staffs are all very friendly and willing to answer if you have any questions during the stay. The space is small but to me cleanliness is good, service is great as well. Just that do note that the hotel doesn’t have adapter, just in case you forgot to bring you have to buy it outside yourself.

I am writing a review for a hotel I stayed at and was extremely satisfied with. I was thoroughly impressed with both the service attitude and the facilities. The hotel staff were very patient and friendly—if you had any questions, you could always ask them, and they would gladly assist. The public areas of the hotel are elegant and clean, and enjoying a cup of complimentary freshly brewed coffee here was a wonderful way to recharge. The room decor features a strong Showa-era style. You can’t imagine how happy I was when I woke up one morning, turned on the radio, and found it playing the Vienna New Year’s Concert! Although the room is vintage, it is exceptionally clean and fully equipped. The hotel is located right next to the University of Tokyo, making it perfect for a leisurely stroll on a sunny afternoon. Overall, this is a great value-for-money Showa-style hotel. During my stay, I caught a glimpse of what reminded me of the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo.

It gets a bit noisy at night, but for this price, you can't expect the most considerate guests. The environment is pretty standard – just an average hostel that's fine for a temporary stay. It's clean, though. The downside is that it's quite a walk from the JR station, and there's a big hill to climb to get to the hostel. I wouldn't recommend it if you have a lot of luggage, otherwise, pushing a big suitcase up that hill will be exhausting. I was definitely sweating when I arrived at the hostel; that uphill walk with luggage is a real workout.

Firstly, one star for its hotel location. Located strategically right beside the dome (good for concert goers) and nearby 2 different metro stations to go anywhere. Secondly, another star for its hotel environment. Clean and huge. Hotel room and its toilet considered spacious if you compare to most other hotels. They do housekeeping daily. Bed is comfortable but their pillows are terrible, we did not sleep really well for 3d2n (even after we requested for extra pillows) until we bought our cushion from disney to use. Lastly, we had a terrible experience with their hotel staff. A local 5 stars hotel with no one that can hold a basic conversation in English. On check-in, reception was unfriendly. None of the staff greeted us and no one briefed us on hotel facilities. Most of them just rely on translator to interact and not all the time translator is accurate. We were given misleading information from Day 1 until we checked out. As we were worried, we went to the concierge for 2 nights just to confirm our concerns but unfortunately, due to their lack of basic English, we were unable to get accurate information. This resulted us wasting 3-4hours at the hotel on our last day just to get our issue resolved. They even requested us to bear the charges for the decision the hotel made by themselves. But they waived it off when we made firm stance that we are not going to pay for it. TBH, i will not visit this hotel again despite its spacious and convenient location. I would rather pay more for international hotels or stay at a smaller hotel with better services.

Ueno Station Hostel Oriental 1(Men Only) is a 5-minute walk from JR Ueno Station and a 3-minute walk from JR Okachimachi Station. It offers compact and luxurious private rooms for you to enjoy your own time. All rooms are equipped with a TV and free Wifi. You can spend your time in your own space. The facility includes a 42℃ high-temperature large bath, a bath that generates ultrasonic waves through bubbles, a vibra bath, medicinal baths, and a radium spring that promotes metabolism by enveloping the body in bubbles. A large bath is the best way to relieve fatigue. Pouring water over heated stones produces steam that envelops the body. The balance of temperature and humidity creates a good "löyly" (steam bath). "Iki" in Finnish means "permanent, eternal." By skillfully manipulating fire and water and stacking a large number of stones, the sauna's origin "smoke sauna" was modeled to create the steam bath.

I recently stayed at Ueno Station Hostel Oriental I in Tokyo, and overall it was a very satisfying experience, especially for a solo traveler looking for convenience and value. The biggest advantage of this hostel is definitely its location. It is only about a 3–5 minute walk from Ueno Station, which makes it extremely convenient for getting around Tokyo. With access to JR lines, the Tokyo Metro, and the Keisei Line to Narita Airport, transportation was simple and stress-free. The surrounding area is lively, with plenty of restaurants, convenience stores, and the popular Ameyoko shopping street nearby. The hostel itself is a capsule-style accommodation for men only. The capsule was compact, as expected in Japan, but clean and well-maintained. Each bed came with its own light, power outlet, and curtain for privacy. While you can occasionally hear other guests moving around, it was generally quiet enough to rest comfortably after a long day of exploring the city. I would recommend bringing earplugs if you are a light sleeper. One of the highlights of staying here is the public bath. After walking around Tokyo all day, soaking in the hot bath was incredibly relaxing. The bathing area and restrooms were clean and well organized, and basic amenities were provided. There is also a lounge area, lockers for luggage, vending machines, and coin-operated laundry facilities, which make the stay more convenient. For the price and location, Ueno Station Hostel Oriental I offers excellent value. It may not be luxurious, but it is practical, clean, and perfectly suited for budget-conscious travelers who prioritize accessibility and comfort. I would definitely consider staying here again on my next trip to Tokyo.

It was close to the station and there were many convenience stores nearby, so the location was good. The front desk was open 24 hours a day, so no matter what time I left or returned, I was treated courteously and had a pleasant stay. When staying multiple nights, it was nice that they adjusted the cleaning schedule and whether or not to do it, and even if I didn't choose cleaning, they brought amenities to each room, which was helpful.

KkhosodaI had a wonderful stay at this hotel and was genuinely impressed by every aspect of the experience. The cleanliness was exceptional—everything from the room to the common areas was spotless and very well maintained. The room itself was spacious and comfortable, providing more than enough space to relax after a long day. The location is another major highlight. It is very convenient and well-situated, making it easy to access nearby attractions, transportation, and restaurants. This made my stay even more enjoyable and stress-free. The service was outstanding throughout my stay. The staff were friendly, attentive, and always ready to help with a warm and professional attitude. Their hospitality truly made a difference. The food was also delicious, with a great variety of options and excellent quality. Every meal I had was satisfying and enjoyable. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with my experience and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for comfort, convenience, and excellent service.

GGuest UserQuite a disappointing stay. I initially thought it was a Dormy Inn because the first characters of the name were the same, and it was also a hot spring hotel, which made it very confusing. The service here was a world apart from Dormy Inn. The room was incredibly small. The breakfast in the pictures looked very rich, and I thought it would be a lavish buffet, but it turned out to be just a bento box, and they didn't even provide cutlery. The price wasn't cheap either. It really ruined my mood. The hot spring was also tiny, and they didn't even provide hair dryers in the hot spring area.

MmtmlCleaning is chargeable at 1.5k yen per clean. Otherwise no cleaning whatsoever - but they do give you new towels and a trash bag daily (hung on your door knob). Breakfast is pretty cute and homely - I liked it when I tried it at a different province, so I rebooked dormy inn. They have a luggage scale at level 2, so very convenient if you have been shopping like crazy. The shopping street around the area is pretty interesting, and I love uneo park. However, some pretty strange stuff during my stay: 1. They insisted on entering my room for an ”inspection” but didn't specify why. When I called to ask, they said it was a bedframe inspection. As a solo female traveler my preference is not to let random people into my room, especially if they're not going to clean after these external people enter, but reception said they couldn't wait until my stay was over a few days later. When I came back to the room, my blanket was shifted and untucked entirely from one side, and my electronics were moved around. 2. A bug appeared on my sink mirror, so I gave feedback to the hotel staff as mini bugs means there's more bugs, and suggested that they fumigate. They said ”oh... sorry” suddenly all proceeded to look away from me and pretend I didn't exist, which was super weird treatment, and very rude lol. I didn't even ask them to change my room, the point is that these bugs are likely to have infestations, and if I came back in another trip to this hotel, I would not like to see more. They didn't even bother asking me what floor I was on, so 100% they don't seem to have any intention of dealing with this. Very weird and poor behaviour - I think it was too much to expect Onyado Nono service in Dormy Inn, so I don't think I will come back.

There’s a FamilyMart, AEON, and many delicious and reasonably priced restaurants nearby. You can walk to Tobu Department Store every day for shopping. The hotel offers a welcome drink available anytime, and there is a separate onsen for men and women. In the evening at 6:00 PM, there is a free happy hour with drinks—perfect for alcohol lovers. My husband really loved it. The amenities are also of good quality. If I visit Japan again, I would definitely choose to stay here—the price is very reasonable too.

CCN_NanaThe facility was great in general. Except you cant stay over the day its just for sleeping, showering and then you can leave it ln daytime, leave your stuff, as they clean and restrict the sleeping area. Otherwise it was kind of an all inclusive experience and did have a clean and nice washroom, as well as all round service. But it was a bit loud in the morning, the cleaning stuff rummages around exactly in front of the bed, talking, making noise cleaining beds 2 hours before check out.
