We've stayed at this hotel many times before, but this time, for a special occasion, we decided to splurge on a luxury experience and booked a private villa with its own pool. That turned out to be a huge mistake. While we've always liked it in the past, there was so much we didn't like this time.
All the furniture is old, and I mean *old*. There's a bathtub with a jacuzzi, but no hot water. There's a pool, but it's dirty and nobody cleans it properly; the bottom is absolutely disgusting. The pool area sometimes wasn't cleaned at all, and other times it was cleaned very poorly. On our last day, some filter in the pool turned on, which kept us awake almost all night. Not to mention the non-working lights and mood lighting around the pool area and in the hotel itself. There used to be a proper air conditioning system, but that's also broken; now there's just a weak, regular AC unit. The villa roof is broken and caved in in some places. You can get much better rooms at this hotel for less money, so think twice before choosing what's supposed to be the 'best' accommodation.
The beach, as always, is excellent, with its own music and a DJ. Breakfast gets a solid four out of five.

Booked for 3239 rubles. We got a clean little house number 13. There is a refrigerator, toilet paper and soap in the house. It will do for an overnight stay. I do not recommend it for a long term stay. For the same price you can rent a luxury hotel nearby. In general, price/quality. Do not expect much from this place.

If you love beautiful nature, clean sandy beach (not like white sand), human attitude is here. The price/quality ratio is just amazing!
Private beach, next to a good restaurant on the seaside.
In general, there is a good set of depth in the sea.
A good massage salon with a stunning view.
English speaking staff is rare.
Water in bottles every day and little pleasures. A good Internet that catches even on the beach.
From the downsides - perhaps too much distance from the venue, but that's all the beauty. The lack of a teapot and a refrigerator in the cottage, and the compulsory presence of a motorbike as on the back.
I advise as much as possible.

This was an amazing hotel, very clean, and well maintained. The room was very spacious and cleaned daily with fresh towels. The pool was fantastic with plenty of sunbeds as was the beach area. I want to talk about this unusual hotel experience: I booked a round-trip ticket from Bangkok Airport to Koh Chang. It was said that it was delivered to the hotel. In fact, it can only be delivered to Lonely Beach. The road behind is not included. We took a Texi (similar to tu tu) 100B per person from Lonely Beach to the hotel. At the fork in the road, the driver put us down and pointed to the sign of the hotel on the side of the road and said, ”Go into this path.” So we were very happy, thanked the driver and walked on the side road. After walking five hundred meters, we started to feel silly. We felt like we had walked into a village. Except for the trees on both sides, there were occasional houses. The more we walked in, the more fearful we got. On the way, a villager on a motorcycle came to talk to us and asked where we were going. (Don't dare to talk nonsense, the guide says that you can't talk to passers-by, but you can't help but say, I don't know if the driver has been tricked) The villagers said that they would go a long way, and shook their heads and left. How could the hotel be far away? I don’t believe it, it can’t be seen from the map. We decided to continue walking, and asked another villager in the middle, or we should continue walking. I dragged my luggage for almost one kilometer, but I haven't found it yet. The more I walk in, the more fearful it is. At this time, an old man riding a three-wheeled motorcycle showed up and told us to get in his car and take us there for free. We were even more scared – old man? Tricycle? free? (Mom said that she can't talk to strangers) Not daring to go, a blond ghost girl driving a car came and asked where we were going. After talking to the old man, she told us to get into the old man's car. Come on, he seems to be in his 60s and 70s. We are very good that he should be able to fight him before. If I can't, I will pose and say I will scare him with Chinese Kung Fu. So we got on his tricycle, and the car drove up a small slope. The downhill was a small road with many monkeys running in the middle of the road. This frightened us both. Mama, how can we hide from the monkey~ My face turned blue, Just about to say something, the car stopped. The old man pointed to the front roof and said: Go down, this house is. It doesn't look like a black shop, but finally here? ! It seems to be here... I stuffed the old man with 40B and walked down quickly. Damn-I finally found you, luckily I didn't give up!
Closer to home, the hotel faces the sea, spring flowers bloom, and the environment is very good! The breakfast is super delicious, comparable to the five-star hotels in Australia, and it is delicious and delicious. The hotel has a free car at a fixed time every day to take guests to Bangbao Fishing Village. It's best to rent a motorcycle, it's a bit inconvenient to get in and out. If you want to live in isolation, this is a good choice. Europeans like to choose this hotel, and relatively few Chinese.

This hotel is situated over the water with stilts, which I loved. Its unique appearance, with all its natural wood flooring and decks adds to its charm and feel of the fishing community. It’s a terrific place to stay for some great Thai Seafood!
The VIP rooms are recommended as they are spacious and have a lovely outside space to relax over looking the water. They also have plenty of windows and natural lighting. These rooms are very comfortable.
It has a restaurant attached to it, also over the water on stilts, which serves fantastic, fresh sea food dishes! My favorite meals was the barracuda with sweet and sour sauce and the calamari. They are good sized meals and their fresh juices are also perfect for the heat!
Aoys farm bakery and cafe is also very close by. If you go to your left of the entrance to this hotel you will see the sign for her cafe and bakery. Aoy makes the most delicious cakes that are supplied to many hotels and businesses on the island! Highly recommend going to see her charming cafe and bakery! It’s a short walk and great for fantastic breakfasts and fresh juices or warm drinks, if you don’t want sea food at the resort, go there!
The pool is lovely, as the water below the hotel is not clean and we did not want to swim in it. There are other beach locations for swimming.
You can hire a fishing rod and do some DIY fishing, or pay for fishing half or full day trips, hire bikes, and kayaks. I was satisfied with this location and would certainly consider staying there again for a night or two!

The location of the hotel is relatively remote, so it is relatively quiet. The bed was very large and comfortable. We did not think it was too crowded. The bedding in the room is very comfortable, and the breakfast is also good, but the variety is relatively small. We booked a room with breakfast. The next day we had breakfast and we ordered the menu. The prices of different packages are different. I wondered if we needed to make up the difference when we checked out, but there was no result. The boss and the proprietress are very nice and enthusiastic. I only blame myself for having too limited English, and they can’t talk well. The hotel has a small boat to take guests to the opposite Bangbao fishing village for dinner every day. The service is very attentive. The hotel’s dinner is also okay, except that there are few varieties, everything else is fine. The fly in the ointment is that there is no place to dry clothes.
There may be monkeys coming sooner or later, so don't be too nervous to hear the movement. And there are a lot of ants on the island, especially at night. Don't be too nervous to see it.

Great little guest house away from civilization. The hotel is located on the very edge of the island in a fishing village. You definitely need a bike to move around the island from this hotel because there is practically nothing near the hotel, there are no beaches either. The sea is all muddy bottom, swimming is prohibited there. They give you a free ride on a kayak. In general, friendly staff, peace and quiet.

Amazing
AArron Dhaliwal SinghSerenity resort
Amazing hotel - would highly recommend staying here.
We stayed at serenity resort for 2 nights on arriving at Koh Chang from Bangkok. The location is so so idyllic and relaxing, absolutely beautiful. We also stayed on the west side of the island for a couple of nights and while it is quieter on the east side of the island (ie, there is no point in leaving the resort in the evening as there is nothing really to do on the east side after dark) this is exactly what we were after.
The staff could not be more helpful and accommodating. Food and drinks at the restaurant were great and reasonably priced. Very clean and comfortable accommodation. Lovely view.
As other reviews have said, if you are staying here you will likely want your own transport so you can explore. We rented a moped from the resort at a very reasonable price. If you want to rent a car make sure you have an intl driving permit (takes a few mins to obtain but must do whilst in the UK). There’s barely any traffic on this side of the island so the drive down to long beach at the south of the island felt very safe on a moped despite the hills (and would be the same in a car). The resort staff recommended us to do this and then get kayaks over to Koh ngam, which we did and was a great experience!
The other option is to rent a taxi for a day (we were quoted c2500 baht for 6 hours) and they can drop you wherever you like and wait for you.
Thanks again for a lovely stay at serenity resort!!
DDouyacaiThis hotel was a surprising and authentic find! The whole place has a classic Thai wooden style, and the rooms are huge with amazing sea views. Waking up to that view each morning was just wonderful…
While the decor is a bit older, the hotel facilities are very comprehensive. My favorite part was the huge balcony – perfect for comfortably zoning out. The breakfast was excellent, with different dishes every day, featuring fresh vegetables and fruits. What was really unexpected was the number of peacocks 🦚 strolling around the hotel grounds. They weren't afraid of people at all. To be honest, I was a bit scared of them myself; their calls were quite loud! Sometimes, two peacocks would even stand guard right outside my room, making it hard for me to get in. 🏡
The only inconvenience was that there are no supermarkets or restaurants around the hotel. You have to take the hotel's shuttle bus to get out. Once you reach White Sand Beach, you can shop or eat freely. It was a bit of a hassle, to be honest. The hotel's food was also a bit expensive and, more importantly, not very good. Since I stayed for many days, I ended up buying a lot of things from 7-Eleven to bring back to my room.
Service: Excellent, very friendly attitude.
Environment: I highly recommend the environment and the hotel's beach 🏖️ – it's perfect! If you're looking to just relax and not do any shopping, this place is definitely worth considering.
GGuest UserThe hotel is old but in a very good condition. Service is very welcoming and with a incredibly high level of English language proficiency. Location is rather quiet (there’s a shuttle but you better set with your car or bike) but with a great beach. Good food at the dinner restaurant and plentiful breakfast.
Sand fleas is an issue. We’ve got some bites.
Good value for money.
BBesoGonThe hotel grounds are amazing, full of wildlife and nature (no spiders or snakes though). Breakfast was really good and had a great variety. The beach water was clean and the pools were nice.
The biggest downside was the terrible soundproofing in the sea-view rooms on the hillside. We could clearly hear our neighbors talking and playing music all night. We called the reception several times, but nothing changed. In the end we just had to wait until they finished partying and went to sleep.
The rooms are also a bit worn out. Some mold in places and the plumbing feels outdated.
Location-wise, it’s quite inconvenient without a bike or car. The hotel shuttle runs rarely, and every ride to town on a songthaew costs about 50–70 baht per person, which becomes 2–3 times more expensive in the evening.
AAnonymous UserThe overall experience was alright, but the facilities need some care. The water park is old and some of the slides are breaking down, they don’t look safe. The hotel is divided in two areas, one across the road and one by the beach. If you are staying across the road you can’t use the pool from the beach side, which is a bummer and a big downside. Would check other places first.
XXinquanComing from a stay at Dinso, I have to say KC really doesn't measure up. The overall footprint is similar, but the bathroom is incredibly cramped and uncomfortable. The bathtub on the balcony feels awkward and exposed. Breakfast was decent, roughly on par with Dinso, but a few details were lacking. So, aside from the beach, KC really falls short compared to Dinso.
KC has a common layout for hotels on Koh Chang, with one section by the beach and another across the road up on the hill. They claim to have four pools, but in reality, besides the main pool, there's only one other usable pool on the hill. The hotel property is large enough, but there's not much to explore or enjoy.
GGuest UserWe stayed at Stage Hotel for 15 days, and it was truly wonderful.
A very cozy, clean, and comfortable hotel that makes you feel at home from the very first days.
The rooms are spotless, the beds are very comfortable, and the snow-white bed linen is a real pleasure to sleep in.
The air conditioning works perfectly — the temperature in the room was always comfortable.
Special thanks to the friendly and welcoming staff. Everyone was kind, attentive, and made us feel genuinely cared for.
Honestly, I was almost in tears when it was time to leave.
This is a place you want to come back to again and again.
Stage Hotel is not just a hotel — it’s a feeling of comfort, calm, and warmth away from home.
We will definitely return ❤️
SSakulrat pleEverything was good , reasonable price to stay, also recommend to rent kayak because the view is so stunning and you can see the local houses along the way to Klong Prond beach.
KKhant Soe NaungThe Mercure Koh Chang Hideaway is a solid 4-star resort located in Bai Lan Bay. As the name ”Hideaway” suggests, it is secluded, peaceful, and removed from the busy party areas. It is an excellent choice if you want privacy, relaxation, and great swimming pools, but it is not the best choice if you want to swim in the ocean directly from the hotel beach.
Key Features
• Location: It is located at Bai Lan Bay, which is south of the popular ”Lonely Beach.” It is very quiet. To find nightlife or a variety of street food, you will likely need to take a taxi or rent a motorbike to drive about 5-10 minutes to Lonely Beach or Kai Bae.
• The Beach: Important Note: The hotel has a private beachfront, but it is quite rocky. It is beautiful for sunsets and relaxing on bean bags, but it is generally not suitable for swimming due to the rocks.
• Pools: To make up for the rocky beach, the hotel has two excellent swimming pools. One is a large free-form pool by the ocean, which is very popular with guests.
• Rooms: The resort offers a range of rooms from Standard to Private Pool Villas. The rooms are generally reviewed as spacious and modern with Thai influences. The Pool Villas are highly recommended for couples seeking privacy.
Dining & Facilities
• The Bay Restaurant: Serves International and Thai cuisine. Reviews generally praise the breakfast buffet for having a good variety. The restaurant offers ocean views.
• Facilities:
• Fitness Center & Spa: There is a well-equipped gym and a spa offering massages (often cited as a highlight by guests).
• Entertainment: The hotel has a Karaoke room, a Kids' Club for families, and often hosts fire shows on the beach in the evenings.
