"Hygiene: Basic hygiene is fine for a hotel of this level. Environment: Very Japanese atmosphere, with warm lighting throughout the rooms, very comfortable. However, the view from the rooms isn't perfect. Facilities: The public areas are small, with a living room, a courtyard connected to a breakfast restaurant, a small bar, and a Japanese restaurant. The wellness area has everything you'd expect except for the swimming pool. Service: Local activities are fun, and the afternoon dance performances are excellent; every night they offer a special bedtime drink, like Bulgari, but each time it's a different flavor of broth—who wants a salty broth before bed? It's puzzling. In addition, turndown service includes a small Kyoto-style gift. Advantages: The core advantage of Capella Kyoto is its location, making it very convenient to walk to the Shijo Kawaramachi shopping district, and city center attractions and subway stations are also within walking distance. Temple view rooms offer views of Kiyomizu-dera Temple and the shimmering sunlight in the distance during the right season. Areas for improvement: Some hotel staff have room for improvement in English, which can sometimes cause communication problems; some non-local housekeeping staff are impolite and do not greet guests proactively. Disadvantages: As shown in the picture, even the view from the temple rooms may be directly facing a cemetery."

"The environment is great, especially the outdoor area, which is absolutely stunning. The service was also excellent; the hotel owner is from Shanghai and even walked us to our car when we left, making us feel truly at home. I'll definitely stay here again next time I'm in Kyoto; it was so comfortable. The room isn't huge, but considering space is at a premium in Japan, it was still a very decent size."

"A Truly Exceptional Stay at The Ritz-Carlton, Kyoto Our family had a wonderful experience at The Ritz-Carlton Kyoto, and we left with nothing but gratitude and happy memories. From the moment we arrived, the service was flawless and heartfelt — the kind of genuine hospitality that makes a trip feel truly special. A huge thank you to Cecilia and Vinnie from the Guest Experience team, who went above and beyond to make our stay seamless and comfortable. Their warmth, attentiveness, and thoughtful gestures made us feel incredibly welcomed. A very special shout-out to Cecilia, who noticed my daughter’s love for Winnie the Pooh after our visit to Disneyland Resort. She prepared a beautiful card, a sweet message, and even a handmade Pooh origami and placed it in our room. It absolutely made our daughter’s day — such a thoughtful touch we will never forget. We also want to commend Yuki from the restaurant team for his warm and wonderful breakfast service each morning. His kindness and attention to detail set the perfect tone to start our day. The Ritz Kids adventure passport was a delightful surprise — engaging not only for our daughter but also enjoyable for us as parents. And of course, we loved the festive Christmas atmosphere, especially the beautiful Christmas tree and the amazing gingerbread house with the incredible aroma that filled the lobby. The Ritz-Carlton Kyoto truly exceeded our expectations in every way. We felt cared for, welcomed, and genuinely appreciated. We can’t wait to return again. Highly recommended for families and anyone seeking an unforgettable Kyoto stay."

The HOSHINOYA Kyoto provides a great place for travelers to relax after a busy day. The HOSHINOYA Kyoto offers a pleasant stay in Kyoto for those traveling for business or leisure. From the hotel, Arashiyama Station is just 700m away. Guests will find Arashiyama, Kyoto Bike Tour - The Bamboo Forest & Arashiyama and Arashiyama Bamboo Forest just a short distance from the hotel. In their spare time, guests can explore the hotel's surroundings. This Kyoto hotel provides parking on site.

"I am from Yangzhou, Jiangsu. Although Yangzhou is a garden city, there are many such style escape hotels in Jiangsu and Zhejiang, Hongxi Noya of Hoshino Group is definitely worth living. The overall health is very good, the facilities are well maintained and there is no musty smell. That is, all the windows can be wiped clean. This time I checked in in the evening. When I took a taxi, I saw the sunset of Lushan, which was a value-added item. The reception staff was very polite and welcoming. At night, the girl was invited to drive us to the hotel entrance. This road was too standard, almost standing on the mountain, and there was a feeling of adventure. When I checked out, I felt the ship of Hoshino. By the way, I recommend the dyeing workshop and Zhai Pavilion are diagonally opposite. If you like the scenery, it is worth seeing."

"When we chose this hotel, we saw pictures and videos that made us think it was a resort estate, but it's not. There's very little to see inside the hotel; I could walk through the entire property in 5 minutes. Secondly, the hotel advertises natural hot springs, but the public ones reek of disinfectant as soon as you walk in, which is very unpleasant. The room itself was okay and had character, and the bathtub was very large with a pleasant woody scent when bathing. Finally, the breakfast – honestly, the taste was just mediocre. I wouldn't choose this hotel again at the same price point."

We chose a large corner room with windows on both sides. The hotel building has a history of more than 200 years. The location is great. It is right at the entrance of Kiyomizu Temple Commercial Street. It is quiet in the bustling city. The hotel is very quiet and elegant, with high-end decoration, complete facilities and excellent service! Breakfast is served in a library-style restaurant, which is very special. I highly recommend Japanese breakfast. Everyone thinks it is high-end Japanese cuisine when they post it on WeChat Moments. There are also vegetarian and children's meal options for breakfast. I also strongly recommend the window seat in the executive lounge. Drink Japanese tea or Japanese whiskey in the afternoon and look at the quaint buildings outside. It is worth the effort!

Our experience at Six Senses Kyoto was truly wonderful. As a new hotel opened in 2024, it exudes an elegant Japanese Zen style, and the public courtyard is particularly photogenic. The room was spacious enough at 42 square meters, and the attention to detail was impeccable. The breakfast selection was rich, offering both local Kyoto flavors and Western options, and the quality of the food was excellent. Its location isn't far from Gion and Kiyomizu-dera Temple, making it very convenient for sightseeing. The only slight downside is that it's a bit of a distance from the subway, so I'd recommend taking a taxi for getting around. The service was meticulous and attentive, making for a very relaxing stay overall, perfect for those looking to slow down and enjoy a holiday.

To sum it up, this is, in my opinion, the best choice in Kyoto under 10,000 RMB (my criteria when traveling with a baby are a kitchen for cooking and a washing machine for laundry). First, the hotel's amenities are impeccable. It's spacious and comfortable, and what you see in the official photos is exactly what you get. All kitchen and bathroom appliances are top-of-the-line (for example, the wine cooler is a LIEBHERR). The bathroom also featured an automatic hot water dispenser that keeps the water at a constant temperature, which was a first for me and incredibly convenient for bathing the baby. Secondly, the hotel service is the best I've ever encountered. Their team made me feel like they genuinely care for their guests, not just doing a job. This was a stark contrast to the cold, fake smiles often found in chain hotels. On our first day, a part was missing from the crib, so they helped us move our large bed, thoughtfully placing the mattress against the wall to prevent the baby from bumping their head. I was completely satisfied, as the issue was resolved. But to my surprise, the hotel immediately bought a brand new crib for us the very next day, which truly touched me! And the warm, welcoming Chinese-language service, plus the responsive WeChat service group, was incredibly convenient. Finally, the Kamo River is just so beautiful. I didn't even want to go to any other attractions; I just enjoyed strolling with the baby, soaking up the sun, and chasing wild ducks. Life is elsewhere, but perhaps this is the true meaning of travel.

We loved our stay at Hotel the Mitsui. Super nice and zen design . Absolutely adore their lobby area, which I think is designed by Andre Fu. Always drawn into his work somehow. Breakfast food was okay, but the view really made up everything l. Super relaxing & beautiful Service was great. Most of them were able to speak English proficiently. There’s a thermal spring at their basement, which you have to call the reception before you go to ensure there’s enough space. Everything was well prepared, including swimwear, disposable underpants, towels, water, etc. Since they control the # of people, everyone has their own space and it still feels very private. Room is nice with many details. Love their huge selection of pillows available for guests. It’s not huge, but the space is well used. Location wise, I wouldn’t say it’s the most convenient, but if you take a cab, everything is reachable in 20 mins max, so it’s not too bad. There are still good restaurants and touristy places to go that are in walkable distance, so it’s not middle of nowhere. Overall, fantastic experience which I will recommend for others!
