"Celebrated 520 (May 20th) by booking a more upscale meal that day, and the experience was great ❤️. The location is fantastic! It's a 5-minute walk to Umi Jigoku (Sea Hell), so we went straight there after breakfast when it was less crowded. Regarding service, I have to say: it was the rainy season, and there were many staff members standing at the entrance, but they only bowed. It felt awkward watching adults and children run into the hotel in the rain to check in, and checking out involved carrying our own luggage in the rain too."

"This was the accommodation where I stayed for 2 nights and 3 days. There were three single beds pushed together, so there was plenty of space to sleep. The toilet and bathroom with a bathtub were separate. There's a washing machine (detergent included) so you can wash anything you need to quickly (though there's no drying rack). Since we stayed for 2 nights, they left fresh towels, amenities, and toothbrushes outside our door the next day. The overall cleanliness was decent. There's a complimentary drink service, so you can enjoy coffee and a variety of other beverages whenever you're coming or going! There's an outdoor onsen (hot spring) on the 11th floor. It's free from 10 PM to 8 AM, so I enjoyed the hot spring with my child first thing in the morning! Haha."

"The hotel is a work of art — the architecture and design are incredible. I got a room on the first floor, and I’m usually not a fan of staying on the first floor for security reasons, but everything was perfectly fine. The room was very spacious, clean, and had all the amenities, including skincare products. My favorite part was the bath, especially when you open the doors and fresh air comes in — such a relaxing experience. And the breakfast… the best omelet I’ve ever had."

"This hotel is amazing - the staff are friendly, the room is big and the view is beautiful. They also provide shuttle bus service which is really helpful. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t good so I didn’t have a chance to see the sunrise in the room. I might come back and try the private onsen next time!"

"I've stayed here before, and this time I brought a friend and booked a larger room. It's a historic inn, but the building and decor don't feel old at all. The Japanese-style room has a really nice vibe, and the smell of the tatami mats is so soothing. The room itself is incredibly spacious; I honestly think three or four people could comfortably stay in that one large tatami room. On the top floor, there's a hot spring with one indoor bath, a small outdoor bath, and a small sauna, all using natural hot spring water. The breakfast selection isn't huge, but all the dishes are local specialties or popular items from Oita Prefecture, so you'll definitely eat well and feel full. The downstairs parking used to be free, but now it costs 700 yen per night."

"It’s perfect for watching sunrise as our room was facing direct east. Unfortunately, it was cloudy and we couldn’t watch that. Location wise is perfect if looking for a getaway in tranquility, otherwise got to drive out for dining or convenience stores. Hotel staff is very polite and friendly. They also serve afternoon snack around 3pm. A very nice gesture especially for guests waiting for check in."

"Initially, I was torn between choosing between Kai Beppu and Harumi, and I'm so glad I ultimately went with Harumi. From the service to the facilities, this onsen (hot spring) ranks as one of the best I've visited in Japan, alongside Izu, Arima, and Karuizawa. Enjoying a hot soak with family, then relaxing on the balcony listening to the ocean waves while sipping a drink—it was such a perfect evening. The service was excellent, and the breakfast was outstanding, featuring many local specialties. I'll definitely be back!"

"Transportation: Very convenient. It's only a 10-minute walk to JR Beppu Station. For my bus trip to Fukuoka, the bus stop (right outside Starbucks) was just a 5-minute walk from the hotel. Facilities: This is a resort-style hotel, and I was lucky enough to snag a sea-view room where the first rays of morning sun streamed directly in. The room was very spacious, more than enough for two people; it actually felt a bit large for just myself. It was approximately 10 tatami mats in size (excluding the bathroom, separate toilet, entryway, and balcony). Cleanliness: As it was a Japanese-style room, it was generally clean, but there were some small bugs. I got a few bites on my fingers and bottom, but they cleared up by the next day. Ambiance: The balcony offered a direct view of the ocean. The 260-degree sea view room was truly impressive. Service: Overall, the service was very good. The only area that needs improvement is the hot spring on the 7th floor. On the day of my arrival, I made a reservation for the hot spring with the hotel, but I didn't receive any confirmation or proof. Consequently, I didn't actually go. However, I was still charged either 1000 or 1500 yen for it at check-out. It's a small amount, so I didn't bother disputing it with the front desk, but I do think their booking and confirmation process for the hot spring needs significant improvement."
