This was a last-minute trip to Tohoku and Hokkaido. Since I was staying in Sendai for the last few days and wanted to enjoy breakfast, dinner, and onsen (hot springs) at a nearby hotel, I decided to visit Akiu Onsen, which I hadn't been to before.
The hotel thoughtfully provided a shuttle bus between Sendai Station and the hotel, which was very convenient.
The front desk service was excellent. The onsen area was large, and the dinner was very good (including any extra meals I purchased).
The breakfast was relatively disappointing; there weren't any particularly appealing dishes, and the quality was just average.
Although I always chose to bathe and soak in the public bath, I also used the bathroom in my room, and my family members weren't used to going to the public bath. However, the problem was that even when I adjusted the temperature to over 50 degrees Celsius, the water temperature in the room's bathroom was only between 20 and 30 degrees Celsius, and adjusting it further didn't change anything. I wonder if there's something wrong with that.
In conclusion, for a hotel with a normal temperature, I believe there are other better options in the Akiu Onsen area.

The hotel intimately arranges the station to and from the station and a warm lobby to welcome the guests. The open-air wind is near Guangxi and Sichuan, so that the soup is not a leisurely feeling. The indoor bath is spacious and luxurious, the bright large glass window can enjoy the snow scene, and the warm bathrobe coat is comfortable and beautiful. One berth and two meals for dinner and breakfast are buffets, fresh ingredients are simple and delicious. A variety of handmade coffee, tea, wine and snacks are provided in the lobby lounge area. You can enjoy the scenery outside the window and enjoy the scenery. It is not boring to spend the whole day in the hotel. It is a hot spring accommodation hotel worth visiting.

SKLoveTravelThis is a very large onsen ryokan. There's a free shuttle bus from Sendai Station directly to the hotel, but you need to book it in advance. The buffet dinner features king crab legs and made-to-order sushi, and the breakfast is also very good. If you don't use the shuttle, it's just a three-minute walk to the bus stop for a ride back to Sendai.

Emily_pealThis is a standard, established, large hot spring hotel. The lobby is beautifully decorated, the koi fish are charming, and the rooms are spacious. The hot springs are rather unremarkable, and the semi-buffet dinner was particularly disappointing. I've stayed at many onsen hotels with a stay and two meals option, and this one was quite subpar. The free shuttle bus from Sendai Station was a nice touch.

Stayed one night in the main building. The room was spacious, clean, and well-equipped with good amenities. Our package included both buffet breakfast and dinner, which was a nice touch. At check-in, guests are asked to select their preferred dining times. Since the restaurant can get quite busy, I recommend choosing the earliest slot for a more relaxed experience. The onsen facilities were decent and provided a chance to unwind. Overall, it was an enjoyable and comfortable stay.

The best accommodation in Sukunami hot springs. Huge rooms with western beds and Japanese influences. The dinner and breakfast buffets included are out of this world! The public baths are spectacular, especially the outdoor rock onsens are a destination on their own. Free flow of drinks and popsicles at the two lounges
Shuttle to and fro the hotel can be arranged at 40Yen per way. This hotel is really in the middle of nowhere and it's a 5 min drive from Sukunami JR Station.
The entire property has been recently renovated and reopened in Apr 2025, so the facilities are sparkling new and luxurious.

Very historical hotel, but unfortunately the surrounding area is too desolate, there is no scenic spot that can be reached on foot, there was originally a cherry blossom road, but the trees were also cut and replanted. Should not come again

The hotel staff are friendly, polite and helpful.
The dinner dishes are exquisitely presented, and the breakfast buffet has a wide selection of food.
The bedroom facilities are complete and tidy, and the wet and dry toilets are separated.
The hot springs are comfortable, but you need to walk up more than 40 stairs to get to the outdoor open-air bath.
The only drawback was that the toilet could not be flushed. After calling the staff, they immediately provided assistance but could not repair it immediately. In the end, I had to use the toilet in another room.

The first time I went, this hotel was not very easy to find. I used Apple navigation. The result was guided to the city. I walked back and forth with the suitcase for more than an hour. In fact, the hotel was behind the station. Breakfast was average and there was not much to eat. No Chinese service.

The environment is elegant and comfortable, and it's easy to get to. The meals are incredibly thoughtful and delicious, and the nearby scenery is beautiful. It's an easy, pleasant walk to see the natural canyon views without any difficulty.
