Spa Hotels in Berlin

The hotel facilities are good, but I'm quite dissatisfied with one thing. Our flight landed at 10:55 PM, so we expected to check in past midnight. Fearing the hotel wouldn't hold our rooms (I'd heard stories of German hotels not holding rooms past midnight), I specifically made an international call from Shanghai to the front desk. I explained the situation and asked them to hold our rooms. They confirmed they understood and said someone would be there to check us in after midnight. Still feeling uneasy, I contacted Ctrip customer service and asked them to follow up with the hotel. Ctrip later confirmed they had arranged a pre-check-in for us. I thought we had double assurance. However, when we arrived after midnight, the front desk told us they only had one room available, even though I had booked two rooms for two nights. They suggested we stay at a nearby hotel for the first night and then move here on the second day. I had already looked at that hotel, and the environment was significantly worse. Plus, as a family of three staying for two nights, I didn't want the hassle of checking out and checking back in the next day. I firmly refused. There were other Asian guests checking in after us, so it was impossible that there were no rooms at all. Eventually, they gave us a room at the very end of the hallway. German hotel service can be so unreliable! I'm angry.

We stayed for four nights at the Sana Hotel in an apartment. The accommodation was very nice: clean, bright, and comfortable. The only downside was the hotel's wellness area (swimming pool, sauna, and hammam), which was unfortunately very difficult to enjoy. It quickly turns into what feels like a water park because many families come with their children and do not respect the rules. The children run, shout, dive, and jump into the pool, and the parents often do the same. It is impossible to enjoy this area, which is supposed to be peaceful and relaxing. Whether you're in the pool or lying on a sun lounger, you end up getting splashed every time someone jumps into the water. The rules are clearly displayed at the entrance to the wellness area, but there are no hotel staff present to ensure they are respected. The same applies to the rule stating that children are not allowed after 8:00 p.m. Unfortunately, there were children in the wellness area until 11:00 p.m. every evening during our stay. This is a real shame, as the wellness area is of little use if you are looking for peace and relaxation. ****** Wir haben vier Nächte im Sana Hotel in einem Apartment verbracht. Er verwandelt sich schnell in ein regelrechtes Freizeitbad, da viele Familien mit ihren Kindern kommen und sich nicht an die Regeln halten. Die Kinder rennen, schreien, springen und tauchen ständig ins Becken, und auch viele Eltern verhalten sich genauso. Es ist unmöglich, diesen Bereich zu genießen, obwohl er eigentlich der Ruhe und Entspannung dienen soll. Egal, ob man im Wasser ist oder auf einer Liege liegt – bei jedem Sprung ins Becken wird man nass. Die Regeln sind am Eingang des Wellnessbereichs deutlich ausgeschildert, doch es gibt kein Hotelpersonal, das auf deren Einhaltung achtet. Dasselbe gilt für die Regel, dass Kindern der Zutritt nach 20:00 Uhr nicht mehr erlaubt ist. Leider befanden sich während unseres gesamten Aufenthalts jeden Abend bis 23:00 Uhr noch Kinder im Wellnessbereich. Das ist wirklich schade, denn wer Ruhe und Entspannung sucht, kann den Wellnessbereich kaum genießen.

The room was nice and comfortable for business, but the location was further from Potsdamer Platz than I expected. Plus, there aren't enough streetlights around, so if you're coming from the station, you might have to walk through a pretty dark patch of woods.

We chose this hotel to escape the summer heat with our baby, expecting the level of service and professionalism that comes with the JW Marriott brand. Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing from the moment we arrived. We checked in at around 4 PM and were greeted by a very long queue with only one receptionist serving guests. The wait exceeded an hour, and even after reaching the front desk, the check-in process itself took an unusually long time. The biggest issue came when we were informed that the room we had booked was still occupied because another guest, described as a premium member, had not yet checked out. Regardless of the reason, we had paid for that room and expected it to be available at the guaranteed check-in time. Guests should not have to deal with operational issues that are entirely within the hotel’s control. As a temporary solution, we were placed in another room while waiting for our booked room to become available. We ultimately had to wait around five hours before we could finally move into the room we had reserved. This was especially inconvenient while traveling with a baby and disrupted the first day of our stay. The hotel did offer a late check-out as compensation, but that did little to offset the inconvenience, wasted time, and frustration caused by the situation. The issue should never have happened in the first place, and the recovery fell short of what I would expect from a luxury hotel. Overall, this experience was far below the standards I associate with JW Marriott. I hope the hotel improves both its check-in operations and the way it handles situations where booked rooms are not available as promised.

We stayed at NH Collection Berlin Mitte for two nights over the weekend. Overall, it’s a great value for a short trip. The location is excellent and the staff at reception were very friendly and helpful. The room had everything we needed (comfortable bed, great bathroom, TV). The best part was the sauna included in the price — perfect after cold winter walks, and it’s open until 10 pm. Two small downsides: we felt a slight draft from the balcony window (winter stay), and there was a faint “old” smell in the room. Not a big issue, but worth mentioning. We didn’t try breakfast, so can’t comment on food.

Let's start with the positives: The location is excellent, right next to the U2 subway station and very close to the U6. If you have the Berlin WelcomeCard, getting around by subway and bus is super convenient and saves you a lot of walking. There's a Rewe supermarket across the street with a great selection of food, and their salad bar and hot food counter are both excellent. Now for the negatives: The staff were arrogant and rude. I waited in line to check in for almost 20 minutes when a white man just walked up and stood next to the queue, not bothering to line up. After the person in front of me finished, I walked up to the front desk with him. He said the balding male staff member at the desk had called him over. I told the male receptionist that everyone was queuing and should be served in order, but he insisted he had called that specific white man. At this point, another front desk was free, so I didn't argue and moved to that one. This is where it got even more interesting. When I tried to pay the deposit in cash, the female receptionist said they don't accept cash. Isn't it illegal in any country to refuse legal tender? And who says everyone has a credit card? I didn't want any trouble, so I pulled out my credit card, but for some reason, it wouldn't go through. Finally, this female receptionist said her colleague could accept cash, and indeed, the colleague came over and took the money. But if I hadn't asked, they wouldn't have even given me a receipt. For a hotel costing over 2,000 euros a night, they don't provide bottled water unless you're a Hilton Silver member or higher. The coffee is also terrible instant coffee, the worst among the four hotels I stayed at on this Europe trip. The facilities are old but reasonably well-maintained. In short, besides the location, there are no redeeming qualities.

Quiet despite being in a lively area. There's a large mall nearby with diverse international cuisine. You'll also find German chain stores like DM and Rossmann supermarkets. We saw several airline crews staying at the hotel.

The hotel's decor and facilities feel a bit dated, giving it the vibe of an old local establishment. The room was very spacious, more than enough for two people, and the bathroom was also large, though the sink was quite high – perhaps for taller Europeans. There's complimentary water in the room, but it's only replenished when the room is serviced. You need to hang the 'Please Clean' sign on the door if you want housekeeping. We stayed for 4 nights and our room was only cleaned twice, providing only two bottles of water, as we didn't realize we had to hang the sign for cleaning. The hotel has convenient parking for 30 Euros/day. The front desk service was excellent, very warm and attentive, and communication in English was easy. The hotel's location is superb, with an Asian supermarket, Chinese restaurants, local eateries, and Italian restaurants nearby, along with many shopping malls and a 24-hour McDonald's. There was also a Christmas market. It's not far from attractions; a 9.5 km walk will get you to the TV Tower, Museum Island, etc. Driving is also an option, but parking near the attractions is difficult. Overall, I'm very satisfied!

Dissappointing... We come here for more than six years, and it goes seamlessly down. In the evening is the sauna neglected, nobody comes to replenish towels and water cups, not to mention that ”renovation” meant the removal of the fridge, which used to offer free soft drinks and bottled water after the saune. Just two sorts of tea (if you can sustain that four kind of black tea means four sorts of tea...). Nobody controls the sauna temperature anymore, one day it was crispy hot, last time one could fall asleep inside... The rooms cannot be heated, just cooled. If you try to turn air condition off, you can´t, and they need the approval of the building´s owner to change the set temperature for the entire hotel. Last time they offered us a heater, now we had to change room for extra charge. All staff seemed overwhelmed with the complaints, except for apologies there is nothing to get in exchange for the wasted time and money... Room keys don´t always work in the elevator or on the floor. Extra coding for the sauna works every now and then. Staff overwhelmed, room orders come very late or not at all. No coffee sets whatsoever.
