3-Star Hotels in Uva Province, Sri Lanka

The hotel is located halfway up a hill, requiring a turn off the main road onto a very narrow and steep path. A 7-seater car can't make it down, so you'll need to take a tuk-tuk. This guesthouse-style hotel has exceptionally friendly staff; they always greet you with a smile. It truly offered the best service throughout our entire Sri Lanka trip. The hotel views are indeed stunning, offering a clear sight of Little Adam's Peak. The food was decent; dinner wasn't a buffet but a set menu where you could choose from a few options, and the taste was fine. However, the rooms definitely need improvement. Firstly, pest control was inadequate; ants crawled on me several times while I was sleeping. Secondly, the bedsheets didn't feel very clean; they seemed unwashed and rather flimsy. Lastly, it would be much better if they provided a proper duvet instead of just a sheet and a blanket.

Heaven on earth! Absolutely spoiled every morning with breakfast on their rooftop overlooking the famous Ella Rock. Possibly the best bedroom view I’ve ever seen. We travelled in April which is notoriously muggy and hot, but the electric fans are very powerful and kept us nice and cool in the evenings, they even have a sleep setting on them! Couldn’t have asked for much more. 5 min TukTuk to and from town (500sr or £1.50). Or a peaceful 10 minute walk. 11/10 would recommend

Perfect Stay in the Heart of Ella! We recently stayed at Bridge Front Inn and had a fantastic experience from start to finish. Everything about this place is excellent. The staff here are incredibly attentive and friendly; they go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. We were greeted with a complimentary freshly made passion fruit juice, which was a delicious way to start our stay. The location is simply ideal — right next to the iconic Nine Arch Bridge, making it super convenient for exploring Ella's main attractions on foot. Although we didn't use their shuttle service because we weren't aware of it when booking, the owner kindly agreed to drive us to a restaurant one evening, showing true hospitality. The food was another highlight, absolutely delicious and very reasonably priced. The breakfast buffet deserves a special mention as there is an enormous selection of dishes to choose from. Our room was spotlessly clean with fresh bed linen and brilliantly white towels. Highly recommended!

Keeping in mind this is a 3 star hotel, the positives are the rooms are big with a balcony looking out at amazing views (ours anyway), and the pool is clean and quite big also with amazing views and a concrete elephant water feature!!! The location of the hotel is pretty good too - far enough from other properties to be quiet but close enough to Ella main drag that you can walk in 10-15 minutes or pay a tuk tuk driver double the rate of Colombo to get to and from. The big negative for us was that despite being told upon checking in that the room would be cleaned every day, it was not. And I was told the reason why was that we didn’t hand in our key for it to be done - which seems bizarre after staying in hotels for decades and not being told to or having to hand in a key in order to get a standard daily room clean. The insinuation that it was our fault for not handing in a key (not that we were told to do so on checking in) was extremely irritating. Food was ok but overpriced so we ate elsewhere (lots of options). There were lots of little things in the rooms that could be easily addressed to make them nicer - definitely not having ripped old bath towels, and removing an empty TV bracket from the wall (like a TV used to be there but not anymore - or was it just our room, who knows). All these little things add up to I really think the room rate is too high - but we are here in the high season so maybe that’s just the going rate.

The hotel is on the hillside, with a good mountain view, the room bathroom is super large, the only room that is not damp in the 20 days of living in Sri Lanka, if there is air conditioning, it will be perfect.  It is more than 20 minutes' drive from Ella Town.  Ella is mostly sloped . It is basically a curved path to various hotels and homestays. It is very suitable for  people who want to be quarantined for a few days to live for a few days. I especially want to praise their service team. A few simple warm and friendly local boys, they really want to be good to every guest staying, thank you for the delicious breakfast.

It’s a little high up on a hill, but the view from my balcony was gorgeous. It’s also right off the main street, so if you don’t mind the trek up and down you’re still relatively well-situated to be near the backpackers’ bars and restaurants and shops. Breakfast had a lot of local Sri Lankan options which I greatly appreciated, and staff was also happy to explain each dish to newcomers. A small piece of advice for the team though: perhaps hire a few female staffers? As a woman traveling alone, one of the first things I noticed was the all-male staff—or at least, I didn’t see a single woman working there in my 2-night stay. I don’t have a problem with it, but newer solo female travelers might unintentionally be scared off

When we originally booked there was only 1 review so we were hesitant to book but decided to anyway. It turned out to be the best decision and we couldn’t be happier. The room and view is absolutely beautiful. Watching the sunrise and hearing the birds from the big and comfortable balcony was a highlight of our trip. The hosts really thought of everything. They have a tuktuk service to take you into the city, the hotel is a few minutes walk from the nine arches, lots of amenities you might need, and delicious breakfast. We hope to stay again! The **prime location** was unbeatable – just a **2-minute walk to the main city center**, with easy access to **trending restaurants and vibrant spots**.   What truly made our stay special was the **attentive service and warm atmosphere**. **Great food, fantastic service, and genuinely caring staff** – we couldn’t have asked for more!   **Highly recommend** Alta Vista for travelers seeking **comfort, convenience, and genuine hospitality**. **Thank you for a memorable stay One thing which can make more effective is WhatsApp service. WhatsApp will speed up things. Service was prompt if you have a Srilanka number over phone call.

We had a lovely stay at Ella Rawana Den Hotel in Ella. The location is excellent — just a short walk to town, making it very convenient for restaurants, cafes and exploring the area. One of the highlights was the beautiful balcony view overlooking the lush green hills. It was the perfect place to relax in the morning or evening. The room was big, clean and comfortable, and the staff were very friendly and welcoming throughout our stay. However, it’s important for older guests or anyone with mobility issues to know that the hotel is located up a very steep hill. Cars and tuk-tuks cannot access the property directly, so you need to walk up, which can be challenging — especially with heavy luggage. Because of this, it may not be suitable for elderly or disabled travellers. One small improvement would be for the hotel to provide a hairdryer in the rooms, as this would be very helpful for female guests. Overall, a great stay with beautiful views and kind staff — just be prepared for the steep climb!

We had a wonderful stay at Greenland Villa. It is perfectly located right next to the Kithal Ella train station, from which you can directly board the famous train that goes through the nine arch bridge. The property was beautiful, very well equipped with everything we needed including a great kitchen. It was clean, well ventilated, and more importantly it felt like home. The owner took time to decorate it with great taste. On top of that he was such a humble and polite person.Upon arrival he gave us a ride to get our groceries; another day he brought us his homegrown vegetables, which was such a nice gesture. Having said that, there were a couple of issues that needed to be addressed. The WiFi connection was not great, probably because of the location, but we struggled with it. And the breakfast was very carb-heavy, which may work for you but wasn't particularly to our liking. Nonetheless, We would book it again if I ever come back to Ella. We can only recommend Greenland villa highly.
