I just wanna say huge thanks to the fo during cny 17/2 we checkin, forgot her name but shes malay wearing scarf bawal a little bit tembam and cute! She was so kind and patient to arrange our request for birthday deco in our room, she apologized for not noticing my notes on the booking but its okay! Love the ambience of the hotel! Overall it was very nice! Will repeat on staying here next time!
The service attitude was quite good, but for the price, the facilities are rather basic. For example, all the cabinets are fake, the air conditioning is noisy and the fan speed can't be adjusted – it only blows cold, not hot. The space isn't big enough to justify the 'luxury' label, and the internet speed was so bad we couldn't even connect. The staff rebooted it several times with no improvement. It was very annoying staying here during the New Year.
Very convenient location, within walking distance to KOMTAR.
The room is simple but clean and comfortable.
There are plenty of food options nearby, so you’ll never run out of places to explore and eat.
It’s easy to find, which makes check-in hassle-free.
I especially love that they provide laundry service for every guest staying here , such a thoughtful and practical touch. One night entitle to one wash
The location of Loop on Leith strikes a near-perfect balance.
Although the hotel sits close to the lively Lebuh Chulia, it is cleverly tucked away along Leith Street. Chulia Street is a hub for backpackers and nightlife, so evenings can get noisy. By setting itself slightly inward, Loop on Leith neatly avoids the brunt of street noise, while still placing you just a four-minute walk from the iconic Blue Mansion (Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion), where you can easily begin your street food adventure.
Its positioning works as an ideal base for urban exploration. Head north and you’ll find the refined charm of the heritage district; head south and you step straight into the vibrant pulse of the city center.
The hotel embraces an Urban Chic concept, deliberately doing away with traditional heavy carpeting—a smart choice in a tropical climate, as it helps reduce mustiness and allergens. Instead, modern hard flooring and bright lighting create a space that feels noticeably fresher and cleaner, both visually and physically, compared to older Peranakan-style hotels in the same price range.
Rooms here tend to be on the smaller side. For two guests traveling with large luggage, the space can feel a bit tight. It’s best suited for travelers who spend most of their day বাইরে exploring and simply want a comfortable place to rest at night—think light packers or efficiency-focused “urban explorers.”
At roughly RM250 per night, Loop on Leith delivers a boutique-like aesthetic and standardized service at a budget hotel price point. The value-for-money and overall sense of comfort are impressive.
It lacks the heavy, sometimes oppressive atmosphere of heritage buildings, and also avoids the blandness of chain hotels. This makes it especially appealing to young couples, solo travelers, or business visitors.
If you’re looking for a spacious executive suite, this may not be the right choice. But if your priorities are efficiency, cleanliness, and stepping straight into great food and scenery the moment you walk out, it stands out as a smart option in George Town’s mid-range market.
For an even better stay, consider requesting a higher-floor room—it offers a slightly more open view and helps buffer early morning street noise from passing motorcycles.
The hotel environment is comfortable and clean, with many restaurants and convenience stores nearby. The rooftop offers a panoramic view, which is quite good for the price, offering great value for money. The only strange thing was that there was a mirror facing the head of the bed in the room.
This is the best value backpacker hostel in Penang, and it even has a swimming pool! It's my top choice in Penang, especially since it's located in the heritage area of the city, making it super convenient to get around. There are also plenty of restaurants nearby.
The room was clean, comfortable, and well maintained, providing a relaxing environment after a long day. Housekeeping did a good job, and the overall atmosphere of the hotel felt calm and welcoming.
Superb location, close to so many well known eateries. Rapid bus is at hostel doorstep to commute to various places of interests. Capsule bed is enclosed by concrete wall and you wouldn't hear movements on the top bed. Air conditioning and hot showers are strong. There are many lounges to rest and relax and love the Peranakan ambience of the hostel. Staff are nice and helpful and love that the towels are of the reputable hotel quality and are changed once every 2 days. A bottle of drinking water given everyday by the housekeeper.
The staff were courteous and professional, and check-in and check-out were smooth. Amenities were adequate and met expectations for a comfortable stay.
The centerpiece of this hotel is a square Zen garden, with a rectangular open sky roof that lets rain in to nourish the plants indoors. This very much adds to the relaxing ambience of the place.
One of the best places to hang out at this sizeable hotel is at the commons, where there are comfy leather couches, a TV, a fridge, a water dispenser, an ironing board and also worth mentioning a bookshelf filled with books and board games. It is open for all registered hotel guests to use, and is nicely equipped and furnished.
Working shower with heater. Also, clean toilet. I recommended place to stay for solo travelers or with friends.
I liked this hotel very much. If you stay for three days, the hotel provides laundry service. I would happily stay again
Overall, it was a excellent experience, and I would consider staying here again in the future.
Parking available in front of the hotel. Room was clean. Price less than RM200 and room got bathtub. The weakness is only that the sink is outside the bathroom. And you can hear next door room watching TV and when they use their sink. Overall was satisfied for 1 night stay only.
My stay at U Hotel Penang was simple, comfortable, and worth the price. The hotel is located in Gelugor, quite strategic if you plan to move around Penang Island not exactly in the tourist centre, but still convenient with Grab and nearby food spots.
Location around 1.5 km away from many tourist attractions, like upside museum, UNESCO heritage sites etc.. we had to grab taxi everytime. There is a pool on 1st floor, big enough for children to swim around. Its from 7 am to 7 pm. But to be honest, it could be until 9 pm, kind of strict rules. Check-in counter staff was not that welcoming / nor smile, neither kind words/ But cleaning staff and security was kind, smiling every time as we enter the hotel.
i had a wonderful stay at Bishop Hotel in Georgetown, Penang. the location is absolutely perfect — right in the heart of the UNESCO heritage area, within walking distance to popular attractions, street art, cafes, and amazing local food spots. it made exploring Georgetown so convenient and enjoyable.
the room was cozy, clean, and very comfortable. perfect for relaxing after a full day of sightseeing. everything was well-maintained, and the bed was especially comfortable for a good night’s rest.
overall, Bishop Hotel is a great choice for anyone looking for a centrally located stay with cozy, comfortable rooms in Georgetown. iwould definitely stay here again!

GGuest UserThe location is good, but the hotel itself is quite basic and a bit dirty and messy. The fridge in our room was also broken. One of the front desk staff (who looked Chinese, but wasn't) was quite rude.
The parking situation is a bit confusing. The day before yesterday, the front desk told us we only needed to pay RM5 once, and then parking would be free afterwards (we'd need to go to the front desk to wave off the charges). However, the next day, a different front desk staff member said it was ”RM5 for the first entry/exit each time.” So, we have no idea how they actually charge for parking; their policy is very confusing. It feels like none of the staff know what they're doing. And charging tourists RM5 for each entry/exit is quite unreasonable, isn't it? When you're on vacation, don't you go in and out of the hotel frequently? Do you really think charging RM5 every single time is reasonable? Charging once a day would be acceptable, but this seems like they're just desperate for money.
EewanwanThis is my second time staying at this hotel, and it continues to deliver a consistently comfortable experience.
The room is clean, well-maintained, and designed in a simple, functional style that feels similar to an ibis concept practical and easy to settle into.
The highlight is definitely the bed. It’s soft and very comfortable, and even the single beds are generously sized. The bedsheets feel like cotton, and the hotel provides two types of pillows ,one soft and one medium-firm ,which makes it easy to get good sleep.
The bathroom is clean with proper dry and wet separation, and having a fridge in the room is a nice added convenience.
Location is another strong point. Within just a 1-minute walk, there are plenty of food options, from open-air local stalls to air-conditioned restaurants. Despite that, the area remains quiet at night, which I really appreciate.
The fact that I chose to come back says a lot. Overall, great value for money and I would definitely stay here again

SShengxiaotuExtremely satisfied, very satisfied.
Checked in on the 20th floor and enjoyed the view while waiting.
Hygiene: The room was spacious, clean, and tidy, with a separate wet and dry area in the bathroom.
Facilities: The infinity pool on the top floor was fantastic, with plenty of loungers and towels available. The pool water was also very clean.
Environment: Downstairs, the hotel is surrounded by convenience stores, coffee shops, restaurants, and nail salons.
Service: The check-in process was very thorough, with detailed explanations about WiFi connection, air conditioning temperature control, pool opening hours, and more.
HHaniff AMI recently stayed at this hotel and had a very pleasant experience overall. From the moment I arrived, the staff were friendly, welcoming, and quick to assist with check-in. The lobby was clean and well-decorated, creating a great first impression.
The room itself was spacious, comfortable, and tidy. The bed was especially cozy, and I appreciated the small details like complimentary water, toiletries, and reliable Wi-Fi. Housekeeping did a great job maintaining cleanliness throughout my stay.
One of the highlights was the hotel’s location, which made it easy to access nearby attractions, restaurants, and transport options. The breakfast provided was also satisfying, with a decent variety of choices to suit different tastes.
There were a few minor drawbacks, such as slight noise from the hallway at times and limited parking space, but these did not significantly affect my overall stay.
Overall, I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable and convenient place to stay. I would definitely consider coming back in the future.
GGuest UserWe stayed here for three nights, and this was actually our second time returning. The location is excellent, just right across from a local market (bustling in the mornings), where we enjoyed a wide variety of breakfast options every day. Despite that, the hotel itself is tucked away in a quiet lane, offering a peaceful and relaxing environment. It’s very convenient to get around, and we also appreciated that bicycles are available for rent. The complimentary coffee in the lobby was a nice touch too.
Our room was very spacious, and we’re especially grateful to the front desk staff for upgrading us to a connecting room. As a family of four, the extra space made a huge difference, it was incredibly comfortable and perfect for us. Overall, we truly appreciate this wonderful stay. The hotel provided us with a cozy and restful experience, making our trip even more enjoyable.
GGuest UserThe hotel is just a 5-minute walk from the jetty and has great facilities. It's quiet at night, and conveniently located near Chew Jetty and the street art. Perfect for a city walk, though there aren't many dining options nearby. A Chinese-speaking staff member at the front desk was a huge help; when I accidentally booked an immediate Grab ride and couldn't cancel, I rushed downstairs, and he assisted me immediately. He was very friendly and answered all my questions. Penang is wonderful, I'll definitely be back!
TTini88We were a bit nervous after reading the reviews online but we had a really excellent stay. The rooms were super clean and modern with a beautiful sea view and the bed was really comfortable. The rooms had a kettle with teas, a hairdryer and iron and the shower was lovely and hot. Great AC too. The pool was lovely with a beautiful view of the sea and very nice and peaceful. The location was also great with a huge food market right opposite. Overall a really lovely stay
