I highly recommend this place! We went to watch a game, and it was only a five-minute walk? Very close, and it's also close to shopping and eating in downtown. There is a homeless nearby, but they are not aggressive. Parking is a bit expensive, $50 per day, but it's valet parking, and you can send a text message to prepare the car in advance when you go out, which is quite convenient. Overall, I recommend it!

This hotel is housed in a century-old building, and its interior is decorated in a grand, vintage Baroque style with murals, carvings, and crystal chandeliers, reminiscent of an old European castle. The front desk offers complimentary bottled water. When I requested hot water for tea, they immediately had a staff member deliver an electric kettle to my room. The breakfast was plentiful and the service was excellent. There's a daily breakfast service fee of $6, which I found to be quite reasonable. My $150 deposit was refunded to my credit card the day after check-out.

Overall, my stay was quite good. The public transportation nearby is incredibly convenient, and it's genuinely close and easy to get to both the LA Lakers' and Kings' home arenas. I even walked back to the hotel after a game! There were quite a few homeless people around, and a distinct smell of *********. The hotel itself was good, my only complaint being that my room on the 10th floor, near the elevator, was a bit noisy at night.

The hotel is right opposite USC, which is very convenient for visiting. The front desk guy was very friendly and told us about nearby attractions and how to take the bus. There was also an Asian front desk guy who helped us find change and store our luggage, which was really good. It was also convenient to take the subway!

GGuest User2025.08.21
I highly recommend the LA hotel we stayed in this time [strong]. It's right next to several attractions, a food court, and the subway. I took a city walk in the morning.
Aside from the valet parking being expensive, everything else was fine. The good thing is that you can pick up your car anytime, which is really convenient, and the service was excellent!
There are cheaper parking lots nearby for $45 or $50 a day, but be sure to check the specific terms and conditions. They're not as convenient as the $65 a day hotel with 24-hour access (because we parked in a nearby building for two days and ended up paying $100 one day).
The city walk is quite uphill, but thankfully, the attractions are all nearby, so it's quite convenient to walk around [snicker]. The back door on the third floor of the hotel is full of art galleries, music venues, schools...
To the right of the hotel are office buildings, Citibank, Bank of America, and the Angel Train. It's a very short drive. Across the street is a large, bustling food market, and it's a perfect match for the restaurants at the back door on the second floor!
We opted for the business district food court downstairs, as it was packed with office workers. For lunch, we had a salad of our choice and a homemade coffee in our room for just over 100 RMB. [Victory] (The salad 🥗 was incredibly generous, with over 100 items to choose from, and even the five of us couldn't finish it all [snickering]).
We went back to our room for a bit of rest at noon. It's really tough taking care of the elderly and children [tearing off tears and laughing], and we had to take care of everything! We then had a cool summer drink in the lobby, which was refreshing! The fruit was also 🆓 and free to grab. 🍎 It was crisp, sweet, and juicy.
Don't walk around the surrounding blocks at night. There are a lot of black people and homeless people, which can be a bit scary, especially since some people behave strangely and constantly shake trees. The only downside is the lack of convenience stores nearby. We went out to buy milk and instant noodles that evening and almost got scared, but my husband and I managed to stay calm.
Since we were staying for several days, we drove directly to Costco to stock up. The hotel refrigerator is small, but we could still fit some food in our two rooms! Overall, it was quite harmonious during the day, and the room was spacious!

During my recent trip, I had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Aventura, it provided an exceptional experience and especially free parking.
The hotel's location was absolutely perfect. Situated in the heart of a vibrant city, it offered convenient access to various attractions and great dining options everything was within a short drive away. The hotel's central location made it easy for me to make the most of my time and truly immerse myself in the local culture.
The service at this hotel was truly exceptional, the hotel staff went above and beyond to ensure to return my credit card which was left accidently on the check-in counter.
The rooms were spacious, elegantly designed, and equipped with modern amenities. The comfortable bed and linens ensured a restful night's sleep.
While if there is bath tub & breakfast provided would be more rejuvenating experience.
In conclusion, my stay at this hotel was truly outstanding. The combination of its prime location and exceptional made it a truly remarkable experience.
I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone seeking an unforgettable stay that exceeds expectations in terms of location, service, and facilities.

The access was good and there were no major issues for sleeping overnight.
The only thing that bothered me was that the shower room door didn't close completely and it was difficult to adjust the shower temperature. The water only felt lukewarm, about 37-38 degrees Celsius. Also, although my room was on the second floor, the hotel's outdoor unit was noisy.

The environment and scenery are invincible. The service of the staff is a bit average. The most serious thing is that my friend was ignored when the concierge depar**ent delivered the luggage. I wrote feedback to Marriott and got an apology reply, but no specific compensation

The room was clean and had a great industrial vibe. It's perfect for a short stay. The rooftop bar was really pleasant at night. The beer wall in the lobby is a unique feature. It was super convenient to stay here for a golf trip to Los Angeles, as it's only a 10-minute walk to the course.

YYC008Here's why we gave the experience 3 stars;
First of all, when we booked the hotel, neither Trip.com nor The Aster, Los Angeles, mentioned anything about the rooftop being closed on the dates we booked. On May 13 and May 14, we stayed in room 3 0 6. The hotel pictures showed and bragged about having a rooftop and plenty of pics of people there, and nowhere was revealed anywhere on their website or Trip.com that would not be available on those dates. When we reached out to Trip.com, they pretty much said that the rooftop amenities weren't listed as part of our package. Really Trip.com? You have to list the rooftop as the amenity... Got it. That was so lame a response. Everyone knows people book due to the pictures, and this was a seriously lame response from the Trip.com customer support personnel. We decided to save our opinion for this review.
The Aster had nice people, but it's hard to believe the availability missing on their website is a detail they would miss. Their hotel has impeccable detail and design. One can only surmise they conveniently left out the information because people would obviously not book there and go somewhere else. I told the front receptionist this as we were checking in. She mentioned, well, it said it on *******. But we didn't book through *******, we booked through Trip.com. And those specific details were not evident. After July 1st the Government is getting stricter on transparency with hotels having to mention things so we missed this window, but we're happy to hold hotels like The Aster accountable:-)
Also, on Wednesday, we checked out, and they had a fire alarm drill test that lasted about 10 minutes. They forgot to mention another minor ”inconvenience” when we booked on their website. It was at 10 am. It wasn't so bad, but to state the obvious, they left out the ability for customers to decide by not making that information transparent during the booking process. It's not like the fire department or tech people didn't schedule that in advance.
1. If you book through Trip.com, please make sure you specify, call their customer support, and get it in writing. The clickbait and pictures seem shady and sketchy and reflect a lack of credibility in the process.
2. Trip.com asked which room we wanted to be in. When we picked the room, we picked the city-view balcony. But we got put in the poolside view instead. It wasn't bad, but that was missing in the booking details that Trip.com sent to The Aster. My fiance ended up being okay with the poolside view, but it should have been in the booking details via Trip.com. So please, please make sure you watch this if you book through them and call the hotel in advance.
Lastly, the decor, valet, and, in general, the service people were very nice and thoughtful. We would give them 5 stars.
AAnonymous UserFor the price, the environment is quite decent. However, the airport shuttle service is sparse. They claim it runs every 30 minutes, but you actually have to call them to come, and then you have to keep an eye out and flag it down when it arrives. The shuttle to the airport, on the other hand, is punctual. Check-in is officially at 4 PM, but you can usually check in by 2 PM, though going at 2 PM often means waiting in line.
LLyn R.Awesome front desk service and staff! Just stayed over for the weekend to attend a Dodgers game. Picked this hotel because other closer hotels had a $40-$60 per night parking fee, while this one was reasonably priced at $15 per night I believe. I wasn’t expecting a brand new hotel, and it was really nice. Only junk thing was our in room fridge was either broken or not plugged in so I had to throw away a cup of fruit but not a big deal. Will definitely be staying here every time I come to town for a game.
GGuest UserThe room was very clean, and the staff was absolutely incredible—kind, helpful, and welcoming throughout our stay.
However, the parking situation was a nightmare. The only option was valet parking, which wasn’t made clear in advance. Finding the entrance was confusing, and once we finally did, we learned valet was mandatory at $63 per day. The valet staff were very friendly, but I prefer the flexibility to park and access my car on my own schedule. There was a nearby hotel offering parking for $40/day, but the back-and-forth logistics made that option impractical.
The room itself was stylish and well-kept but extremely small with minimal privacy. I was traveling with kids for a cheer competition, so we had a lot of gear, and there just wasn’t enough space. The room only had a small table under the TV, a few nightstands, and a bench—no real space for extra luggage or to move around comfortably. The layout was tight, especially between the bed and furniture.
The bathroom setup was a major downside. There was no separate bathroom area—just a shower and toilet with no full wall or door for privacy. With a group of young girls in the room, this made things really awkward, especially when I wasn’t feeling well and needed a private space. There was no fan or door to close off the bathroom area completely, which was a big issue.
While the room was clean overall, I did notice dust in some areas—on the top shelves, above the fridge, and on the showerhead. I always do a wipe-down when I check in, and while the floors and surfaces were generally clean, those harder-to-reach spots had been missed. There also weren’t enough hooks or space to hang and organize clothing or gear.
Overall, the cleanliness and staff were great, but the lack of space, privacy, and clear parking info really took away from the experience. Because of the room layout alone, I wouldn’t choose this hotel again—especially when traveling with kids or for an event where space is a must.
GGuest UserThe hotel was nice and the staff was excellent. Unfortunately they only had one working elevator, the others weren't working (out of order). The ice machines were broken except one on the 5th floor. The sliding glass door to get into the hotel was broken. You had to use the smaller side doors to get in. They only had one luggage cart available and it was semi broken. Couldn't hang any clothes on it. The windows on the outside of the room were dirty.
The pool was nice but not heated, very very cold. The jacuzzi was fine. No towels out there, you had to bring them from your room. Parking is hard to find in the lot at night and sometimes during the day during to the Casino attached to the hotel.
All in all we would stay there again.
AAnonymous UserCleanliness: Great 👍
Facilities: Average, but the hotel lobby is decent.
Environment: The hotel isn't far from the airport, so there's a bit of noise from planes taking off and landing. The hotel offers a free airport shuttle. There aren't many dining options nearby, so you'll need to drive out for meals. Car rental services are available in the lobby, or you can go to car rental companies near the hotel.
Service: Average. It took a long time for the bottled water to be delivered after I requested it. Parking for self-drivers is also quite expensive.
GGuest UserMy wife and I visited Catalina Island for our 28th anniversary — our first time back since before we were married in 1997. We chose the Catalina Canyon Inn specifically for the pool, jacuzzi, on-site restaurant, and shuttle service. Their website is very nice and seemed like a perfect match for the occasion. Unfortunately, very little matched what was advertised.
Shuttle: The shuttle was not waiting at the Catalina Express port when we arrived on the last ferry Saturday evening which was unexpected. Four of us were left waiting in the dark for about 20 minutes until the other couple called the hotel. The driver was friendly and apologized, but this set the tone for the weekend. The shuttle was consistently unreliable throughout our stay. They tell you to call the driver directly, but he often didn't answer. You'd end up having to call the hotel instead, and the shuttle only seemed to come after someone went inside and told the front desk in person. At one point we waited 45 minutes. Some guests got frustrated and just decided to walk, but the hotel sits at the top of a steep hill — not a realistic option, especially for older guests like us. Their website suggests the shuttle runs regularly, but that was far from our experience.
Restaurant: We arrived at the restaurant at 7:30 PM Saturday and were turned away, even though their website says they're open until 8:00 PM. We had to rush down the hill to find dinner to-go in town before the shuttle stopped running at 8:45. It was a shame we didn't even have time to stay and eat on our anniversary or face having to trek up that hill. The next morning I mentioned this to the restaurant owner, who insisted they closed at 8:00 and that she was there. She then told us the restaurant closes at 2:00 PM on Sundays — so dinner there that night wasn't an option either. She was very friendly though I must say. On Monday we finally had breakfast before checkout. The food was mediocre and didn't match the glowing reviews at all. The prices were also odd — $12 for mozzarella sticks, $20 for nachos, but only $11 for pulled pork sliders, which you'd expect to be the pricier item. The pricing just didn't add up. While we were there, another couple was turned away at 1:30 PM because the restaurant closes from 2–4 on Mondays. We could feel their frustration.
Jacuzzi: The jacuzzi we were looking forward to was covered up and converted into a gazebo with chairs. At first we couldn't find it but yea. No mention of this on the website.
Room issues: The soap dispenser in the shower was empty. The front desk told us we can mention it to housekeeping, who didn't come until after 5:00 PM. We got the soap and a couple fresh towels. The towels themselves were thin and didn't dry well overnight so fresh ones were sorely needed to get at least one shower in with soap before we had to leave the next day. The TV didn't work at all, and the microwave was unplugged — though I was able to fix that myself. The hotel also doesn't offer complimentary coffee, which is standard at most hotels we've stayed at for half the price.
The good: The staff was friendly, the bed was comfortable, the A/C worked well, and the balcony was a nice touch. The room was quiet.
Bottom line: The website gives a very different impression than what you actually get. Between the unreliable shuttle, limited and unpredictable restaurant hours, missing amenities, thin towels, and no coffee, this was not the anniversary experience we hoped for. I'd recommend staying somewhere closer to downtown so you're not dependent on a shuttle and stuck with limited options. I think we need to redo our anniversary. It was a miss for sure.
GGuest UserIt was originally booked for king size bed me and my friend because there is no availability in the website for twin bed but upon arrival in the lobby of the hotel and checking in they offered us if we would like to have twin bed with no extra fee will be added. So amazing and we really did appreciated that. Looking forward to book it again in next trip. Thank you
